Same here also! At his age it's best to build things that he can have fun in. Right now it's not as fun building and working on cars because he can't drive them. I've been following for years. This is an awesome channel. This one in VGG

That mower is the same as the last one my Dad bought a few years before he passed away. I would come home every week to help him mow those three acres I grew up on, and I am now so grateful for that time. Your episode here has brought back every one of those memories and I want you, and your Dad, to know how much good even a little lawn mower video can do. It is an honor to watch your family forge those same kinds of bonds on TH-cam, and watch this generational transfer of knowledge, and integrity. What you are doing does matter, just like character....which you are building wholesale, by the way....💯

Gotta say I'm happy for Bentley, guy has some real drive. Also to have a Dad that can get you to this level at this age is a rarity in today's world. I'm a little jealous bc I had to teach myself most of what I know and to have that extra hand is a real blessing. Keep it up man, you're the future of an industry that is lacking right now! Can't wait to see where you are in 10 years!

I agree. Me and my biological father always argued. He never taught me anything close to what Bentley knows. Everything I no is by just observing and watching. My mom taught me most of the things I no. She even was the one tht taught me how to drive and when he found out what she let me do, he threw a FIT. Unfortunately I lost her to cancer when I was 26 and he disowned me and my whole family 4yrs later. Soak it all up Bentley, u r VERY wise and know ALOT for a kid ur age. Cherish the memories as much as u can. Congats kiddo!!!

Great job! A tip from an older feller...those Kohler engines, like most if not all lawn tractor engines, like to have the choke pulled and full throttle to start. Should fire up in a second or so, first time, every time. Once it's running, kill the choke and she's good to go. They also like to be ran at full throttle. Looking forward to the build!

Glad you picked up on that ability - just be careful, because they can throw you off if the front end comes up quicker than you're expecting. Bently your trouble shooting is much better than many mechanics I have worked with. I was about your age when my dad couldn't get an old Ariens rototiller started. He was gone for several days and I found the carb plugged up. Cleaned carb and teplaced sparkplug and it ran great. Keep it up and remember to ask those questions. I spent 35 years working on commercial aircrat jet engines for an airline.

  • @jefscoupe32

    Good job!
    A few tips:
Those black plastic "T" shaped things under the hood next to the cowl should unscrew to allow the sides to come off. There is another one (I saw) towards the front on the inside. That will allow access to the carb and filter. The foam pre-filter is not necessary unless you plan to mow with it a lot.
Another tip. (Unless you think it's cheating), is to look up the make and model of any of these power tools and mowers online and find the owner's manuals and parts manuals etc. Then you can find out what levers and do-dabs do what to where and how. Megatons of info out there. That has helped this 65 year old kid fix a lot of things. LOL
Also, on some mowers with hydrostatic drive (like that one) you should engage and disengage the transmission (that little lever on the back) before starting the engine. Don't know if it really matters, but the manuals I've read say to do it that way. I was glad to see it had been disengaged before you drug it all the way back to the barn. It could have ruined the trans. Not sure if they use "hydrostats" in racing or not. I hope these little things help.
Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the build.
