Pacheco's characters could MOVE. His body language and sense of movement were unparalleled, they all moved fantastically and SO naturally. When they were just standing, talking to each other, you could see their bodies weight shifting, their gestures, omg. His work was SO good, it's such a shame he died so young
I'm glad to have this, it fills a gap in my collection. I would love to have a complete run of Superman from Crisis onwards but the way theyre collected is just terrible. Having to hunt down trades almost 25 years old just to get a few issues sucks. They've covered a lot of the bigger stories in Deluxe Edition in the past few years, it will be interesting to see what they do with Superman going forward. More complete collections of older stuff, collecting things that have never been in trade? I can only hope so.
That's why I hope dc continues their man of steel hardcovers because those are the books that are starting off from the man of steel mini series up to the mid 90s if we're counting out death/return and exile
@@parsleyisthicc DC needs to do right and give us an omnibus as originally planned for the Man of Steel followed by the omnibus of Panic In the Sky to feel in the gap of Exile and Death and Return.
I hope they make some omnibus of this era because even this edition is weird because some issues happen in between this story and the characters talk about it
the reason for the Gap between issues is that creative team could not keep a monthly schedule; dc was lucky to have some 1 issue stories in the can; the reason it concluded in the annual is they were tired of waiting for the conclusion for the regular series and wanted to move on and could release the annual whenever it was done. Where you Omar am a Marvel guy I am a DC guy who has read 90% of their books since 1973
I really wish Busiek could have stayed on the book longer. I still wonder where gigantic Manheim came from and what happened to him! Did that ever get explained? Great to see this collection 👍
I bought this in singles, but I will double dip just to have it in one over-sized tome. The story is great & the art is even better. I'm somewhat jealous of those who will now get to read it one setting. There were numerous delays & fill-ins and that really messed with the flow of the story.
Hi I have been watching for a wile and I got to meet you at the library and I came after the show to talk to you 😅I have been waiting it’s great review
I would be up for a post Infinite Crisis Superman and the Legion oversized collection, including the six-issue story, the follow-up to that story, the JLA/JSA/Legion crossover, etc.
Omar since we're getting a few modern omnis lately such as Spider-man by Nick Spencer and Spider-man Beyond, do you think we'll ever get a fantastic four by Dan Slott or even Thor by Donny Cates omnis?
I cannot understand why they pull off random Superman(or whoever it is) stuff in deluxe and not proper cronology books or something like that! Also in compendium!
I first heard about this story it was from Will from Wulf Den when he did a video of the top 5 underrated Superman stories th-cam.com/video/R9bVr6xVLBk/w-d-xo.html And this story was the number one spot and then i saw it getting a deluxe I just HAD to get it man so happy Superman getting some good love I really hope they do a deluxe for Up Up and Away that Geoff Johns and Kurt Busiek did together that’s a damn good story
Yes, because fictional characters can hear the cat calls and react back. Just because you are on a diet, don’t mean you can’t look at the menu. Have a good day.

Im glad DC is putting out more oversized Superman stories but we really need a deluxe for What's so Funny about Truth and Justice.
1000000%
That only amounts to one issue. So maybe they could do collection of great Superman deluxe stories including What’s so Funny….
I was always so disappointed that it wasn’t included in the 80 Years of Superman Deluxe that I got. It seemed like a no-brained to put it in.
@@protoplasma2953 That's DC for you. I was hugely disappointed that was left out.
They should do a jla elite deluxe hardcover and add that single issue into the beginning of the book

I love DC Deluxe Editions of great runs. I'm always sad when solid stories get standard sized hardcovers.
I really liked the paper quality of this Deluxe Edition. Kinda wished Birthright had that instead of the matte paper feel.
One of my favorite Superman stories. I can't believe there is no omnibus of this era.
Will be picking this one up, for sure. More Superman please, DC !
Carlos Pacheco... gone too soon Thanks for the review Omar. Happy Father's Day, and have a safe and enjoyable trip with your family to Japan.

I'm about 3/4 through reading this absolutely beautiful story. Might be the best Superman I've read.
I have this deluxe and space age en route 👌
Can't wait to dive into them
DC has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to Superman (omnibuses) collected editions.
I just bought this!!! Haven't read it yet but the book itself looks absolutely gorgeous.
High class Superman story. Great art and story.
I had this in my cart for the longest time, but I decided to wait for the omnibus. I might be waiting a long time.
Same

That was the same case with the Donner and Johns Action run.
Happy Father's Day, Omar!
Great review. I never seen this. You sold me on it. Ijust purchased it. We can not get enough Superman.
Happy Fathers Day to you Uncanny Omar!
Thank you so much!
Still doing some work before "JAPAN" ?! And on Father's Day?!
We need a direction for the DC collected editions team - so many omnibuses or Fat Trades ready to be made just waiting to take my money
I really wish Busiek could have stayed on the book longer. I still wonder where gigantic Manheim came from and what happened to him! Did that ever get explained? Great to see this collection 👍
Dope overview bro ! Supes needs more Omni’s for sure !
I have to get this

Yesssssss that’s the overview that i been waiting for 🤟🤟🤟
Dc has a huge backlog catalogue why can't they out some of the bronze age titles often release them like marvel comics does

Again.. ya making me spending money.. well thank ya sir 😊😅😅
would love to see a Geoff Johns omni!
Give us some Superman omnis you cowards
Speaking of Arion, I would LOVE to get an Arion and Warlord Omni! Any chance do you think?
I cannot understand why they pull off random Superman(or whoever it is) stuff in deluxe and not proper cronology books or something like that! Also in compendium!
Emperor joker and the nightwing joker one forget name atm In deluxe please
I have the 2 part hardcover but am getting this edition to replace them.
When will we get Up, Up, And Away?
Glued binding?!
Glued ? In 2023, for a “DELUXE”
Crap.
At least they didn’t use the crap paper they used in the Death of Superman “deluxe”

Sure could do without Omar’s constant cat-calling female characters when he flips through issues. Cringe.
