    I absolutely love this book. Although the paper is not glossy and its not oversized, there's just so much great content. And its build feels very reliable.
    As for the content, between Secret Identity and Busiek's run, man, these are some of the best Superman stories ever published, and with gorgeous artwork to boot.
    Def one of my favorite purchases this year.
    Yeah, it's weird they cut Camelot Falls halfway, but there's so much good content collected here that I'm just happy they made this collection.

    Hey Omar, ICYMI - Superman by Kurt Busiek Book Two has been solicited to collect "Action Comics #850, #852-854; Superman #659-675, #712; Superman Annual #13; New Year's Evil #1"

    I like this format - feels better for collection than a very thick trade/slim compendium, and more affordable than an omnibus. These stories seem interesting and I've only read Secret Identity, so I'm tempted to pick this up.

    I love the way DC is printing their stories lately. And their marketing strategy is far better than Marvel, in my opinion. This is like a cheaper and more compact version of an omnibus, much like their compact comics series is a shorter version of a regular trade (don't forget the compendiums they're pumping out). DC just knows that if they want to grow financially and to keep the love of comics going, they need to adapt to the current economy.

      Personally, I love the standard sized hardcovers of John Byrne's Superman. I was hoping Post-Crisis Batman would get that treatment. I was hoping something like the Finest line would be coming ok hardcover but I'm happy we are getting that material at all.

      💯 per cent agree. I am currently in a financial situation where its alot harder for me to spring for a Omnibus, so I actually prefer these kinds of thick hardcovers. Plus they are my much easier to read format wise.

    I love Busiek and their take on Superman. A great era alongside Johns.
    Smart move putting only the first half of the Camelot story at the end so if people are invested they need to buy volume 2.
    Strange that these two volumes are released right after the deluxe Camelot though.

    • @BKsBullets

      I got the Camelot deluxe and have a trade for the OYL story. Can't justify getting this for just Secret identity. Weird that they split Camelot falls into two volumes. I guess to get u to buy vol 2. I always thought of Up Up and away as a Geoff Johns story but maybe not???

    The first thing I ever read by Kurt Buseik was a 4 issue Red Tornado mini series that he did with Carmine Infantino doing art way back in 1985. Would love to see that get reprinted in a Justice League Bronze Age volume 4 if DC ever gets around to it.

      Superman For All Seasons & Superman by Johns & Frank in the last two years. And next year we’re getting Red Son and Death Of. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m 2026 we get Secret Identity.

    I JUST got the Camelot Falls hardcover. It's incredibly frustrating that the two Kurt Busiek books includes it.
    Do you think the other content included is worth double dipping? Like is this some seminal Superman or could I skip this and not miss out on something important or impactful? I already have Secret Identity if that helps.

    Awesome book!
    Really tired of the folks complaining about trim measurements.
    Although agreed it's weird that Volume Two will double dip with Camelot Falls. Nice move by DC, seems blatantly designed to rip off the fans who already spent on Camelot Falls.

    Maybe I am wrong, but this was not supposed to be a TPB Compendium? Or I am confusing myself? However, watching the review, I see that the mapping is a little bit confusing. Why include an annual that is part of another event that is nont even collected right now? Also, Why collect Secret Identity that is already available in deluxe edition (maybe this one is oop) and in tpb...-.-' DC has still to work on this kind of things, it's not at Marvel level

    • @hugomelo8673
      @hugomelo8673 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I get what you mean, but as someone who had never read Secret Identity I was very happy to see it included here.
      I could do without the annual, but the idea was to collect every Superman story written by Busiek chronologically, and I'm glad they did it.

    • @KingInBlue
      @KingInBlue 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both the Deluxe and the TPB for Secret Identity are both OOP. Also, this is a creator-focused book, so it would have been much weirder to leave out a Superman story by Busiek just because it's available in other format (like Camelot Falls, for example).

    DC is weird. What determines what gets a deluxe edition compared to a standard cover? Can they just be like Marvel and consistently give us OHC.

    • @xposhboyx
      @xposhboyx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      Except Marvel has now pretty much discontinued that format.

    • @The.Crystal.Clods.
      @The.Crystal.Clods. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Marvel hasn’t been consistent with *almost* any OHC runs or collections in like 10 years.. Meanwhile DC has been very consistent (but not 100%) with their standard size HC lines.

    • @xposhboyx
      @xposhboyx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@The.Crystal.Clods. totally true, there was the recent Daredevil by Zdarsky situation where they canceled the OHCs and switched to Omni.
      And if you were buying OHCs of Jason Aaron's Thor, the omnis had more content. Same with Immortal Hulk.
      All inconsistent, unreliable content for OHCs, leading people to have to double dip and buy the Omnibus.
      I could go on, the OHC of Dan Slotts Spider-Man run were similarly inconsistent/ incomplete.
      Truth be told, both companies have a problem with sticking to any format and doing a series justice with it.

      Batman Red Hood having a similarly hefty page count and getting a deluxe, but not this, is weird. It seems entirely arbitrary. Just print all of your thicker hardcovers in an oversized trim ffs.

      What makes no sense for all the publishers out there is releasing formats in odd sequence.
      If a book will have a different formats it should be Deluxe, Standard Hardcover, and then paperback.

    I've really gone off regular sized hardcovers. For me it's either a TPB for the size, or HC omnibus. A HC TPB is naff.
    I bought all the DCeased in regular HC and am just disappointed in them.
    No disrespect tot he stories and art, just the format.
