I accidentally unlocked some of the low honour cutscene in my game because I tried completing all the bandit challenges despite having high honour otherwise. This was one of them iirc and I found it way funnier than the high honour one. Especially since he was the reason Arthur got tb, it felt so right kicking him out and calling him a parasite
I'll die on the hill that Strauss was the least evil person in that whole camp and was done dirty. He never killed anyone, only gave loans. And the loans though predatory were still only given if the person consented (obviously). And when they defaulted on their loan, it's not like he got the person killed to set an example or whatever, just collected collateral. He was a crappy person sure, but only as crappy as any of your regular predatory loansharks. My man was even loyal till the very bitter end.
When you try to go for Arthur (One of the people who loaned from Strauss) he had already passed away and his wife even mentioned that he worked himself to the grave to pay off his debt. There was even that hunter that died because he was hunting a dangerous cougar to pay off his debt. Thsi is the mission that alwasys pushes me from low honour to high honour. Chaps 1-5 i play low honour. After arthur gets sick, high honour. Its called red dead REDEMPTION (2) for a reason.
Depends you can choose to take the debt from the first guy and not give the widow money to get lower honor. So I think its great they do not force to go High honour.
High honor Arthur seems like he was written much better, i understand why since story-wise it is what he should be trying to become. But it must be a bit disappointing for the people who replayed the game just to see how different it is. No blame on the devs tho, it's a lot to have 2 different lines for each instances

The thing you have to wonder is, would all these people have been better off not taking the gangs money? Especially the Downes’s who were already in massive debt and Thomas was already sick. Surely these people knew taking money from a loan shark wasn’t gonna end well and if they owed a bank money they would loose everything anyway like Downes lost their farm. The people that take Straus’s offer are desperate and know better but do it anyway. I just don’t blame him as much as the story does. @greekzeus9818 there very differnt low and High honour Arthur have very differnt chracter archs. In this scenes have very different dilalogues and Arthurss motivation for kicking strauss out is different. They are not forcing Arthurs Story at all he becomes Far more selfish and bitter. The story needs to tie into RDR1 however so there are limits otherwise they would have taken it much further.
Strauss feels like someone who's least justified to be in the Van Der Linde gang. He simply didn't need them. Sure, when he immigrated info this country he wasn't accepted but he cpuld turn it around for sure, a smart, financially educated man who knows his clocks, a competent "fence" of stolen goods...Strauss could have gotten a job. But he stayed until Arthur three him out because he felt like his place was among these people. He felt like he belonged there. That's probably why he stayed loyal to the very end. Personally I don't have the heart to hate Strauss. And neither does High Honor Arthur, who's more disgusted with the entire ordeal than anything else.
The low honor kinda breaks the most important part of the story wich is Arthur's Redemption side. Low honor just seems he doesn't care enough and see them as waste of time

The thing you have to wonder is, would all these people have been better off not taking the gangs money? Especially the Downes’s who were already in massive debt and Thomas was already sick. Surely these people knew taking money from a loan shark wasn’t gonna end well and if they owed a bank money they would loose everything anyway like Downes lost their farm. The people that take Straus’s offer are desperate and know better but do it anyway. I just don’t blame him as much as the story does. If anything I blame Thomas Downes for taking money he knew he couldn’t pay back and got Arthur sick.
Also remember, Strauss essentially Killed Arthur. He's the reason Arthur got TB

Yeah, that's one of my problems, even with the endings, the outcome is the exact same no matter what you do, Rockstar really lovs forcing their stories and it's boring the hell out of me.
@greekzeus9818 there very differnt low and High honour Arthur have very differnt chracter archs. In this scenes have very different dilalogues and Arthurss motivation for kicking strauss out is different. They are not forcing Arthurs Story at all he becomes Far more selfish and bitter. The story needs to tie into RDR1 however so there are limits otherwise they would have taken it much further.

The fact that I never knew there was a low honor scene
Strauss feels like someone who's least justified to be in the Van Der Linde gang. He simply didn't need them. Sure, when he immigrated info this country he wasn't accepted but he cpuld turn it around for sure, a smart, financially educated man who knows his clocks, a competent "fence" of stolen goods...Strauss could have gotten a job. But he stayed until Arthur three him out because he felt like his place was among these people. He felt like he belonged there. That's probably why he stayed loyal to the very end.
Personally I don't have the heart to hate Strauss. And neither does High Honor Arthur, who's more disgusted with the entire ordeal than anything else.
I like low honor more but i really like the last part of high honor

The low honor kinda breaks the most important part of the story wich is Arthur's Redemption side. Low honor just seems he doesn't care enough and see them as waste of time
