I love that the judge shows sympathy with kale. Yet again that teacher should be fired for even bringing up a person’s traumatic experience up in order to make a point it was out of line.
What the teacher should’ve done: Asked Kale to stay after class and say: “Look, Kale. Losing your dad at seventeen - that’s not something anybody should go through. But you’ve gotta see that life - it goes on. You’ve gotta keep living your life, being the man your dad would be proud of. You can do that, Kale. But you’ve gotta try.”
The teacher was completely out of line, he was obviously trying to embarrass/provoke him in front of his entire class and that comment about his dad got him what he deserved. What he said before the comment was relevant but should have been said in private in a one on one meeting. I wish he could have clocked in a few more times before his Asian friend pulled him off haha.
Sure I would be upset if a student wasn't doing the work he was supposed to. I would talk to him after class about it though. I wouldn't embarrass him in front of a class of 30 students and then talk about his "dead" father after wards. That teacher was way out of line, and he got what he deserved.

A 17 year old boy's Dad dies in front of him in a horrific car wreck. Boy is now depressed and grieving the loss of someone who could NEVER be replaced. Teacher is aware of it, yet he throws an object at the boy's head in class, then chastises the boy for slipping in class in front of the whole classroom and then goes way out of line by showing zero sympathy by saying "What would your father think?" What's also unprofessional on the teacher is that now he ask his cousin, who's a police officer, to be monitoring on Kale while he's under house arrest. Thinking he wants someone to make Kale miserable for punching him. Seriously teacher, you should be fired.

I wish a teacher would say that to me. I’d react the same way
I would do the same thing i mean bringing up a dead family member especially a father thats tough to think about and to get through
In the end, the teacher loses a family member as well. His cousins gets killed in the line of duty when he investigates the home of Kale's murderous neighbor and gets his neck gets snapped. The movie doesn't even come back to conclude on the conflict between Kale and his teacher.
stand up for your self
That teacher’s attitude straight from the beginning was off and he got what he deserved simple as that.
"who you think youre dealing with" dude that teacher had some criminal energy 💀💀💀
