主人公が海へ空へと大活躍する出口到達型のアクション作品。敵達に注意しながら、迷路の奥に捕らわれている仲間を助け出していく。気球やおまるなどの乗り物の存在が面白い。
ストーリー:
ここは、ノースアイランドにある自然動物公園、沢山のキウィ達が楽しく暮らしていました。その中に“ティキ”という若者と“ピューピュー”という娘がいて二人は、とても仲良しでした。ところがある日の事です。南氷洋から来たハンター“ヒョーアザラシ”に仲間達がさらわれてしまったのです。一人残された“ティキ”は、仲間たちを助ける為に旅立ったのです。

Set in Antipodean country of the game's title, The New Zealand Story is an incredibly cute and challenging platform game featuring Tiki the Kiwi bird, possibly the most lovable arcade character ever created. Tiki's fellow Kiwi birds have been kidnapped by an evil walrus and Tiki is charged with rescuing his friends.
The New Zealand Story is a superb, constantly inventive and very demanding platform game that features a wide variety of intelligent and distinctive enemies; such as heavily armed ducks, angry walruses, and whales made of ice that spit giant snowflakes.
During his quest, Tiki can commandeer a variety of different weapons and vehicles - the latter of which include balloons and a hovercraft. The level design is superb, with exploration often rewarded with either bonus items, alternate routes to the end of the level, or secret level warps that transport the player to a later level.

超懐かしいです。BGMが耳に残っていて、聞いた瞬間懐かしさが溢れました
めっちゃ懐かしい。小学校高学年のときデパートの屋上で50円でよくやってた。水商売の片親の同級生女子が家に帰らずいつもこれやっててワンクレジットでエンディングまで行っててまじ惚れたw

メガドライブ版＆ＰＣエンジン版は持ってましたね。

そのX68Kで遊んだから判りますー。あの機種はアーケードのまんま移植されるからよぅ鬼難易度になったなぁ(俺ラスボスまでいった記憶なし)。
