    Pilsen is predominately Mexican but there are few other Latinos ethnicity there too, and Latinos, Latinx, and Hispanic most people misuse the proper words anyways. Latinos are from Latin America all the way from Mexico to South America. I honestly don’t know why people use Latinx to be inclusive when they could just use Latin it’s inclusive enough. Now for Hispanic it basically means from Spain, but don’t let anyone criticize you for misusing the words when they don’t use them properly. You would be amazed at how many people misuse the word Hispanic when they’re Latinos. You do you boo and if I ain’t triggered by anything you say then don’t pay no mind to others. Don’t exhaust yourself out by trying to be inclusive because someone will always be unhappy about you not using certain words and it will be a never ending cycle of trying to make certain people happy when you don’t use the correct word. You’re doing good love, sending you happiness, positivity, love, and hugs 💕🙏

      Ahhhhh love you so much Raquel!!! This means more to me than you know, because I am only striving to be inclusive to all because obviously I know personally what it feels like to excluded. I love you so much for this!! And thank you for educating me especially!!! 💕💕💕💕💕

      @@Ayahna I love you too Ayahna!!!! I know you’re inclusive and I’m sorry if anyone made you feel excluded that’s just mean. Girl I don’t like seeing you second guess yourself and i seen how confident you were when you said Puerto Rican’s but were second guessing yourself and being cautious about your words in regards to Pilsen and it just frustrated me seeing you being careful with your words. Don’t let society or commenters get the best of you when you’re already inclusive, it can really effect you mentally and we don’t need that. Love you 💕💕💕

      @@RaquelC17 A quick correction! Hispanic means “spanish speaker”. Latino refers to someone from latin america, including brazilians, although they are not hispanic since they speak portuguese, not spanish. People from spain are hispanic since they speak spanish, but are not latino since they are european. So latinos that speak spanish would be considered both latino and hispanic. Hope this helped clear up the definitions! :)

    • @dremorakynval1269
      @dremorakynval1269 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people use Latinx because in Spanish you have the gendered Latina or Latino. Latinx is supposed to be gender neutral/inclusive and moving away from the gendered language in Spanish.

    Beverly and Morgan Park neighborhoods are still the city, just far south. I think you may be thinking of Oak Lawn. You left off one of my personal favs which is the entire West Town area which includes: River West, Noble Square, Eckert Park, East Village, Ukrainian Village, Wicker Park and Smith Park. If you love the West Loop/Fulton Market area but can't afford the prices, West Town would be the next best option. Apartments go lightening fast in these neighborhoods though.

      I'm a lifelong Chicagoan, I've been just about everywhere in the city, and I love Uptown. It has a unique feel that's sort of homey to me with quieter parts of the neighborhood, yet there are a lot of things to do, and parts of Broadway are really bustling on the weekend, with all the theaters, bars, The Green Mill, etc. I love the Asia on Argyle area, there are tons of Asian restaurants, little shops and bakeries, it always seems to smell great walking through that area! haha. Very convenient with the red line there, walking distance to grocery stores, Chipotle, Dunkin, banks, etc. It's also pretty reasonably priced for what you can get. The cheapest studio you can find will be around $900, it all depends what you're looking for.
      Uptown, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and maybe Edgewater are at the top of my list right now, I'm from the Southside and looking to move north soon. I also like West Town, River West, Wicker Park/Bucktown, but those are in a different area, and can be pricier.

    Good information. I recently moved back to chicago. It pays to do a lot of research on neighborhoods because they literally change from block to block sometimes. I uses to live in lakeview, which I loved but now very expensive and uptown, which I also liked but is probably expensive now too. Uptown is quite diverse.

  • @mermaiddreams851

    Edgewater and rogers park are great if you don’t own a car as the public transportation is awesome. One bus takes you downtown via lake shore drive. It’s a beautiful bus ride when the bus isn’t packed. Also if you want easy access to the beach scene in the summer, Edgewater/ Rogers Park is great for that too. If you are a young, more artsy family I would stick to Rogers Park as Edgewater is expensive and has an older crowd.

    ive lived in pilsen my whole life, you're right about the gentrification happening. the nicer part closer to uic is the very gentrified part of pilsen. i havent lived around there, the closest we have been is on 18 and laflin in the early 2000s. its pretty diverse now up there, lots of "vintage thrifts" and plant stores and stuff like that. lower west side is more predominantly hispanic, ive lived there for about 14 years, its slowly getting gentrified as well. theres quite a bit of gang disputes over territory happening right now in the chunk between cermak damen and western . two nights ago i heard shots start going off at 1am and it didnt stop until around 4-5am 👎🏽 rent is going up all over the hood and the demoing of buildings raised it a lot, they put a bunch of restrictions on recently to try and keep pilsen low income (like fees for demoing buildings and making it harder to turn unit apartment buildings into single famly homes) but the latino population is getting pretty displaced. next move for pilsen is to build the huge affordable housing complex on 18th and peoria 🔥 hopefully it lives up to the hype and we can keep our families here around longer. overall i love pilsen i would really not like to move out, as a latino artist my neighborhood is incredibly important to me and having such a great exposure to my culture, big variety of food, venues and lots of great art is amazing.

    I see someone else also commented on this, but Beverly and Morgan Park are in the city limits of Chicago, not the suburbs.

    I dont recommend Roger's Park for transfers. If this is your first encounter with a big city especially if you come from a small town . It might seem too diversified for you.

      Lmao probably better off not going in the first place. Don't want to diversify locations.
