‼️I was discriminated against by my own people when visiting Texas (Dallas and Houston) some years ago. The treatment by the Black women was undescribable.😭😭😭🙈 I was as pleasant and hospitable as can be only to be greeted with the total opposite every where that I went. It was very displeasing and hurtful. I was planning on moving from California to Texas and soo glad my home didn't sell in California and the contract on the house I had a deposit on was canceled. Ended up being a Blessing. The Black women treated me like 💩💩‼️😥💯 in Texas Stares, eyes rolling, grunting sounds, not being helped in stores or establishments! But when my man would walked in...etc.. it was a different story. He got more love and open arms of hospitality from the Sista's than a crying baby..😮🙉😫 I felt like I was the minority amongst racist people. It was really hurtful and sad. Once I touched back down on the Westcoast. I was greeted and treated much better. Not sure what's going on with our Sista's there in Texas.. But it changed my views and perception of my black folks in Texas.😢😢 My cousin is trying to get me to once again travel back down there for a visit. ‼️Oh.. heck no!!🙉 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ I really felt discriminated against and not looking forward to that again. And amongst my own Sista's!‼️😭😭😭😭😭

Iived in Hyde Park from 1996 to 2009 and Never had any mice issues at all, 51st and University and 53rd and Maryland....I'm not sure where the places were you either experienced, or heard about .... I love the area, minutes to LSD or the Dan Ryan. Stores and plenty of nice restaurants... Purchased a home is why I moved further South.

Texas is the wrong state to move to if you're always in a hurry. It takes time to adapt, and if you dont have someone to show you where everything's at, good luck. Everything spread out down here, there's a bunch of stuff to do in Dallas as well as the metroplex as a whole. One thing is, you are going to drive.

I lived in Texas for about 2 years doing oilfield work, i lived in Houston and san antonio. I had to move back home to Oxnard California. Texas was waayy to slow, flat and boring i ratherd watch paint dry on a wall. I got treated like a king by the women tho as soon as they seen my California license plate. 💯

You've GOT to be kidding with affordability. Chicago is the 7th most expensive city in the entire US. Unless you live in NY or lA or San francisco chicago is far from affordable. Taxes are 10% . Grocery and gas is Hella expensive.

Me too I love my city of Chicago. I am not sure I want to stay in Texas. I been here 1 year ans I understand u girl. Lack of culture, lack of public transportation and lack of festivals. I feel so isolated and depressed here.

Born and raised in Chicago. I travel a lot, but I have yet to find another city better than Chicago. I bought a beautiful condo on the lakefront. I'm surrounded by tons of restaurants and things to do. No complaints. I ❤ this city!

I understand your decision! My wife and I moved here (Dallas), and it has been 5 years, but we don't feel it! Texas's mentality is very retro; public transportation could be more beneficial, arts and culture are just limited to one or perhaps 2 cultures, and we miss the diversity that Chicago offers; politics, as you mentioned, needs to be revised! Anyway, we are moving back soon and are so happy to be doing so!! It was an experience, but that's all! I hope you are well and staying safe and healthy.

I’m thinking about moving. I’m in between Chicago DC and Dallas. I don’t mind the cold coming from Boston and being right on the water as well I know it’s a different kind of cold now lol but I definitely think that Chicago would be a better fit for me and my future. Thanks for some insight.

I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know how someone can point out Gold Coast and River North being overwhelmingly white, and not say the same about Beverly. Gold Coast and River North is just a lot more affluent, whereas Beverly’s middle-class white.

I've never heard Chicago described as affordable.... Bottomline is unless someone plans to live in a bad neighborhood, they will definitely need money to live in Chicago. When you look up the numbers, Chicago is not even in the top 10 most affordable big cities. I lived there 20 years.
