I am speechless about this flute. Have you tried it? What do you hear is different from the others? Buy Direct from Jean Paul : jeanpaulusa.com/products/intermediate-flute-fl-430?aff=17
I had an Armstrong a long time ago, haven’t played since high school. It was a beginner, just curious, did Armstrong stop making flutes? What do you think is the best upgrade beginner flute?
You can certainly hear the difference in tone, however I think it’s a remarkable flute, especially for a new flute player who is just starting out. They do not need a an overly expensive, complicated mixed metal flute. What a bargain!!!!! Love your videos, they have been a dream since I picked the flute back up after around 8 years I stopped playing.
Articulation seems clearer on the Yamaha and also a bigger dynamic range than first instrument. The Sankyo has most centered tone of all. Easy in 3rd octave 'p' and 'pp' Scales are more equal and clearest articulation of all the proposed instruments.
Low and high notes aren't as clear as the higher end flutes - your flute makes a lovely sound! As for what you're playing - I think it's a piece by Mozart, but I can't remember what it's called!
I have this flute, but the 199 nickel plated one. I feel the high registers are very difficult to play. And the Eb key on my flute is very hard to press. I don’t know if it’s a problem for this one only. But in terms of price, it’s very good for the configuration. I wonder if I should return it? Or exchange for a higher end one?
I'd be interested to get a tech's perspective from a durability standpoint.I also wonder if the pads/cork and such would be interchangeable with those of regular flutes. Also, I wonder if you could put a better quality head joint on it (for an advancing player)
My colleague is a technician, he relayed to me a bit about it and was quite shocked on the build quality. I would also like to try with other headjoints in the future. Got something special planned!
Merci.
I wish I lived in the States or Canada... Here in Brazil a Yamaha 222 costs about 5 minimum wages or even more... It's hard to be a musician around here, all instruments are extremely expensive for us... Oh and by the way I love all your vídeos, I've taken up the flute on February and learned a lot with you already! Tks so much 🥰
Merci!
First of all, I love how your hair looks! ❤ I've been playing for 6 years flute, do you think it's worth it to buy this one?. It really have a pretty good sound tho
If you've played for 6 years, I reccomend saving for a higher level/ expense one. One to last you a while. I have played 5-6 years too and I have a yamaha 372. I reccomend it.
Major problem here. My cat, Molly, hates the flute. She gets up and leaves the room every time I practice. But when I go into the practice room, she is usually there, curled up in her little kitty bed, blissfully snoozing. This is seriously cutting into my practice time. What can I do?
You need to practise more :-) They tend to dislike when we play out of time or too loud. (With 33 years of playing and 4 cats involved). However, when you reach the 3rd octave with high A, very difficult not to make them flee away :-)
@@FabriceBLR I knew they disliked loud stuff, but that cats are sensitive to bad timing is a revelation. I don't suppose I could buy an itty bitty flute and teach Molly to play. Could I?
@@Tubluer when I play out of tune, even in the low/medium register, my cat run away pretty quickly (that's a not so nice way to make her run...) whereas when I play "ok-ish" and not too high/loud, she stays the whole afternoon in the room sleeping. Even with intense scales/arpeggios training. The same for the others :-)
Is the second flute from the left propped up on the piano behind you seriously a Tipple PVC? It looks like one -- not that I'm negging it, those are really fantastic value for money.
I LOVE YOU AMELIE! I watched your video multiple times ofc but do you have any other tips I wanted to comment this on newer videos so you’re more likely to see it and be able to give some advice
I always really enjoy watching your content! Keep it up! It's too bad that you don't have the eastar instrument anymore. A comparison would be quite interesting. I wonder how the eastar efl-2 (open hole silver plated) model would match up to this one. I bought one 2 years ago for marching band, and I had no issues. It held up very well. I have since gotten an upgrade, but it held up very well. Anyways thanks for the amazing content and I look up to you so much Amélie!
You sound good on all three though you sound better on the flute your used to. If you where used to the cheaper ones it be difficult to tell the difference. Only thing is quality aspect.
I can hear a difference and I'm certain as a professional, you can feel the difference. I played for over 30 years until I had to sell my baby to support my real babies... and I just can't bring myself to buy one I can afford as I know it just won't satisfy me. Am i wrong for this? Maybe playing a cheap one would be better than nothing??
Hi Kim, sad to hear you had to sell your flute but that can happen. Right now there are some very nice flutes Like the Jean Paul or even a student Yamaha or 300 series Yamaha which can be real fun to play. I hope you continue your musical journey with the flute one day!
I also have a "crappy Selmer", but I have the incredible good fortune to have a friend who happens to be a concert soloist. One day he borrowed it and showed me what the instrument is capable of. The upshot was that if you are second desk flute, you could use the Selmer in a professional performance and no one in the audience would notice the difference. The main difference was that you can't blow the windows out the way you can with the high end instruments. The tone is excellent, it's easy to play, but really fast repertoire might be harder to do. I love it to bits. I'm going to have a better flute than I can play for years.
Mozart G concerto. The one Pahud wanted to play as a child and made him be a flautist. In the low register, the Yamaha 285s sounds better than the Jean-Paul with your playing style. (But both cannot compare with your flute)

The price has changed slightly I think, I would go and check Jean Paul's website directly for the price updates.

In the low register, the Yamaha 285s sounds better than the Jean-Paul with your playing style. (But both cannot compare with your flute)
Regarding the scales, that's strange that in the medium it's blurred and not very even with the first two and very clean with the Sankyo
