I might be making a big deal out of nothing, but considering the fact that Leia is no longer a member of Blackswan, their comeback title "Karma" seems really fitting.....💅
Blackswan's comeback is an amazing bop since debut, although I miss the Korean members Youngheun and Judy, I hope they reunite again with this lineup, 4 original members I mean with Hyemi (I won't mentioned Leia as she's on indefinite hiatus) and 3 new members Gabi, Sriya and NVee or Alina should I call her
Youngheun and Judy would be lovely to see again, Leia on the other hand has ruined her chances and will likely to never return ever(I was thinking of Hyemi but her scandals would prevent her chances of coming back and former Rania member Seunghyun(who seemed to have potential that pre debut Luminas never got to see)).
This was so well done thank you for speaking of their background and making this video. . I wish them all success,💕💖💕💖 they look genuine like they ALL get along and can become a very huge international group. I will duet on tiktok to help with sharing as much as I can
I've been following Blackswan since a little after their debut and while it's been quite the rollercoaster, I'm proud of these girls. It's really hard for non-Asian K-Pop idols to succeed in the industry, and most groups with non-Asian members don't last very long. Either the lineup is so different that it's barely the same lineups or the group will disband. This happened with groups like Prisma, The Gloss, and Oh My Jewel. Most groups with non-Asian members usually don't last more than a year. While I miss Youngheun and Judy, I truly like this lineup. Each member has something interesting to offer and they're representing K-Pop fans from different parts of the world. I hope these girls continue promoting with this lineup. I was worried at first when the lineup changes happened so quickly because most people don't like artists that change their lineups. It's hard to become fans of people that could leave any day. I was watching their performance in India, and that reassured me. They're a well-rounded group with likable members! If DR Music promotes their music more often, they have the potential to be big; I'm not saying this with any bias, I genuinely mean it. They got a little under a million views on 'Karma' within the first 24 hours and they've got a shot at their first win. (Fingers crossed!) :)
Thank you for sharing this video. Heard the group's name before but never looked them up. Immediately started following them on social media after this. I love diversity and talented humans.
Blackswan is one of those groups you root for to do great whether you're a fan or not cause there's so much great potential that has been stifled by the company in the past. This comeback however, has exceeded a lot of expectations and we really get to see the members shine individually and collectively. I have high hopes for this batch of members, they seem to work well and I hope the company doesn't fudge it up for them cause they deserve better!
I'm so proud of them. This is the best example of cultural apreciation. Other k-pop idols and companies should take notes. I loved it🔥🔥All the girls were so beautiful and everything was so well done.
Hello sis it's been a long I hope your doing fine for now the girls look fine and care with each other full happiness I hope they're l'll stay together for a long time
I love to see it. There are so many cultures involved with this group it is way beyond just K-pop. This is truly revolutionary for the K-pop industry and honestly the way in which girl groups are portrayed world wide. This is the true definition of a “Global Girl Group”.
Its feels like the true rebirth of the group. It feels like when EXID finally settled on 5 members after so many changes. I almost wish DR could separate them from Rania.
I decided to start listening to them after this comeback, however after learning about the groups messy past, I'm a bit scared to be dissapointed in future.
If I can be very honest with you, I don’t think there’s much more to worry about. The 2 things that messed up Blackswan was Hyeme’s (former member) stalker from her AfreecaTV stream sabotaging their debut and Leia (former member) causing a false bullying controversy. The Blackswan members are not allowed to stream anymore and they live in dorms together (hyeme lived at home with her parents) so I don’t see another stalker situation happening as the members now have less freedom. With Leia, there were warning signs of her behavior that I don’t see with any of the current Blackswan members. Another plus with the current members is, aside from Fatou, they are brand new to the K-pop industry so I feel like their heart will be more in it compared to someone like Leia who had been training since she was 13 and didn’t get to debut with Pristin which might’ve left her jaded while she was in Blackswan. If you want to become a Lumina, the best advice I can give to you is enjoy the moment. Don’t let the past stifle your current joy. Being a fan of small girl groups is not for the weak, most groups who aren’t under major agencies face some sort of struggle. I have hope that this comeback will be peaceful. The quality of their content is so much better, their management has really improved since 2021.
Multiple Korean press releases named Sriya as the lead dancer so I’m not sure what DR Entertainment communicated to them. Since I haven’t been able to get a straight answer, I just used the press info to be safe. Hopefully DR will make an official position announcement if Sriya is the main dancer now. They were messy with Fatou’s position in the beginning of Blackswan too (they said she was the main dancer at first then changed her to lead dancer out of nowhere) so I’m wary
I do really really wish them having a peaceful and success journey to achieve their dreams, and I do worried about their popularity in Korea,Korean people doesn't criticism them, almost Koreans gave good support comments to BlackSwan, however is not really strong, because they love to support their people first, so it is hard for Blackswan unless the company promotes them right, don't make the same mistake like Rania before, put lots of effort to these woman, just keep ot4 cause this lineup is so perfect and balance.
I'm so happy for the women and this looks so well done and it seems like the company took this comeback seriously. I saw a few people on quora who said that BlackSwan danced in front of a sacred Hindi tenple (or a place of worship) and that was disrespectful. If this is true then that's f*cked up and it would be a disappointment.
Oh Koreans won't like that I've been reading comments under their live performances and on Pan Naver they dint want a new addition they like this group AND Koreans feel about XG they way westerners feel about Blackswan. I saw a korean comment that said "I'll never forgive those who are jealous of Blackswan for succeeding in Korea but XG a Japanese group is promoting and using Korean audiences for money but won't even sing in our language"
Nope. When TH-cam sees spam in the comments, it slows the live view count because it detects fake engagement and has to verify first. Spam is detrimental to Blackswan’s success.
How do you feel about Sriya doing cultural appropriation by wearing cornrows during BS stage for this comeback ? Btw I'm not hating just honestly curious on your thoughts. FYI her & her company apologized but i still wanna hear your thoughts on this topic.
Hey Adeola. Plzzz make a video about racism in Disney live action movie like the Little Mermaid & Snow White because they originally white but the company change their skin tone to black. Ughhhh 😡
That’s not really my niche but honestly speaking, I truly wish they just made a new Black princess for Halle to play. I don’t know anything about Snow White though
@@AdeolaAsh mean true but, there were people making slavery art of her and saying many slurs about her. I think it didn't matter cause the little mermaid didn't have a race (in my opinion). The director picked her only because her voice was beautiful. The movie was good
@@AdeolaAshI actually agree you because everyone is trying to pick a tiana and naveen for the the live action of princess and the frog but, since the mermaid thing kinda triggered people. They want to make tiana white or light skinned and the prince white as well. I think they should make new black princess but,it's like everytime someone makes a new black character then people whitewash it to make us mad.
@@dontcare8520 yes, people made so many more racist comments than usual because a white fictional character was replaced by a Black actor. I feel it brought a lot of unnecessary harassment towards Halle and Black women as a whole. They could have made a new mermaid character for Halle to play, even just by adopting the Little Mermaid story but changing the name of the princess, and less people would have cared. Halle has a beautiful voice and I’m aware the director picked her. It just makes me think when the only Black Disney princess spent most of the movie as a frog and this theatre live action version being a remake of a white princess movie, I wish there was more effort to make individual Black princess stories the same way there are several white princess stories.
If you’re going off of that one partial screenshot being passed around, I’d suggest reading my entire thread before making assumptions twitter.com/adeolaash/status/1679489965246550018?s=61 I deleted the tweet that referenced Indian culture, but the rest are still there. If you have any questions, please let me know
Honestly i have seen karma first of all that is karm and second of all with those seductive lyrics that is not cultural appropriation not at all that's disrespectful you are showing those temples to saying lyrics about some boy sorry but that's disrespect and using all those elements they mean something to us not just they wanted to make something so they can make anything appropriate lyrics would be cold play hymn of the weekend and fuzi kaze grace that is what we call cultural appropriation
Leia is not an active member of Blackswan, I have no reason to talk about her. Her fans called me all kinds of slurs, harassed me for over a year, and tried to dox me. They made it very clear they do not want me talking about her. Leia constantly used social media to degrade and antagonize her bandmates, you shouldn’t be surprised she lost the privilege of using her instagram freely. If it’s true that she signed with DR in 2019, her contract will likely expire in 2026. She ruined her chances of promoting with Blackswan, so she’ll have to face the consequences. 3 more years to go!
Ngl but I personally didn't like the music video. And the outfits were very weird and the choice of jewelry was weird too. There was nothing indian about the song other than the title karma. And I was hoping that atleast they will use karma the right way with its true meaning. But ofc it was written by a white woman what can I expect. Also the whole concept looked forced. The mv was like every other music video that is shot in india. I like the song though but I just can't watch the mv.
That’s fair! Wanted to let you know most of the lyrics were written by Koreans, Alina Smith (one of the original composers) said Blackswan’s team turned the demo into something new and only a few of the original English lyrics she was apart of writing were kept, such as “Don't be trynna back track / Boy, you'll get the pay back”.
@@AdeolaAsh I actually saw a tiktok of her where she said that when I heard the song the word karma just came to my mind listening to the melody and now the mv shot in india so it makes total sense or something along these lines. If I were to translate the line "we that karma" it means we are that deed which makes no sense both in hindi and English. Almost everyone uses this word wrongly in the west. And we all know what they were trying to do with this concept. They wanted the indian audience. If they did something on indian culture a little later in there career it would've been an amazing thing but now as there first mv with an Indian member it seems very weird and business oriented. And the fact that they put in bare minimum efforts. I need to have a serious conversation with there stylist cause the outfits were not indian. I don't know from which ancient thrift store they found those outfits. The fact that the embroidery on fatou's dress was falling off😭. And don't say that the had limited budget cause india is way cheaper than korea. The music video and the concept photos were a big let down.
@@manyakaushik4036 when Alina and Giselle (the co-writer) wrote the song in English, the chorus actually said “bad karma” and the original concept for the song was basically someone behaving badly and them saying karma is going to get you. Alina talks about it at 4:22 in this video if you’re interested th-cam.com/video/nJ142_h0sfE/w-d-xo.html “We that karma” is not a lyric in Blackswan’s song so I don’t know what you mean by that? The lyric is “ooowee that karma”. Oowee is an English saying that basically represents a sound of delight like saying “oh yes!”. It’s fine if you didn’t like their comeback, but you should critique them with correct information at least. Everything in k-pop is “weird and business oriented”, it’s a superficial industry meant to make money.
@@AdeolaAsh oh I didn't know that oohwee actually means something. I just thought that ooh and we were separate. You see English is like my third language. And I agree everything in kpop is business oriented . I was expecting alot from this comeback. As an Indian for me and also my other friends who are luminas, the music video was a mess. I wish it was done in a better way. But I hope next time it's better.
@@manyakaushik4036 I definitely understand. I’m not Indian but I enjoy Bollywood content and I’ve seen a lot of Indian traditional wear online and in real life through friends and strangers, so I’ll be honest and say I was also confused by some of Blackswan’s Karma outfits as they didn’t match the quality or grandeur I’m used to seeing from Indian fashion. But I didn’t feel it was my place to say anything about the styling since I’m not Indian and other Indian Lumina seemed to be happy. I also wasn’t sure if styling in Odisha was just different from other places. The Blackswan fandom has recently turned into a place where you can’t critique anything without being called a fake fan, so I wanted to let you know your feelings are valid and you don’t have to like the comeback simply because others did. I’ve noticed DR Music in general is a mess and the company seems to cut every corner they possibly can. Fatou (in a fan video thing) told me that one of her outfits was handmade by their stylist, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the other outfits were made by their Korean stylist too which would explain why most of their outfits didn’t coordinate, the silhouettes were different than usual etc. I wish they had worked with an Indian stylist for the clothing which probably would’ve helped a lot. Although DR definitely did better than other K-pop companies who try to do “Indian themed” comebacks, there is still room for improvement and I think that’s a very fair critique
@@he2295 As I briefly mentioned at 2:08 Blackswan promoted in India earlier this year- they did a mini concert series in India (including the Hockey World Cup), visited their Indian fans, and spent time with Sriya’s family. This is all posted on their TH-cam channel Blackswan Official. Last year, the group’s manager flew from Korea to India with Sriya to help her do a press tour and he visited Odisha tourism sites, which is something he’s never done for any of the other members th-cam.com/video/nBrHyy67wgw/w-d-xo.html Blackswan said recently they plan to comeback to India to perform again. As a K-Pop group based in Korea from a relatively small company, what more promotion do you expect from them in India?
@@AdeolaAsh THEY LITERALLY came from DR Music who has a reputation of constant failure. I mean Rania was a failure after failure. Tried using a black woman and it wasn't enough. This is why I'm more comfortable with X:in. I know this company and I know that they can be quite desperate. Just typical business move acting like it's a FRIEND of the people
Blackswan literally has an Indian member, Sriya. This project is a celebration of *her* culture, the music video was filmed *in her hometown* I would expect a group of Korean idols to similarly film in their hometowns and embrace their own members’ cultures if they wanted to do a concept like this. Why would they go to India to create a video that’s meant to celebrate one’s own cultural identity and heritage if they’re not Indian? Either you lack common sense or you were just hoping for a “gotcha” moment which only made you 🫵🏾 look silly in the end. The Korean idols who have been called out for Indian cultural appropriation before disrespected their religions, hypersexualized their culture, and mocked them. Not a single K-pop group has made the effort to actually collaborate with Indian creatives in India to create an authentic, respectful piece of work like Blackswan. Move along 🧻

Yes, your statement about non-Asian Kpop Idol is correct, i just wish them can hit difference successfully in industry. Wish them all the best
Thank you for sharing this video. Heard the group's name before but never looked them up. Immediately started following them on social media after this. I love diversity and talented humans.
Yess same
So proud of them 🎉
They did good I'm happy for them🖤
Blackswan is one of those groups you root for to do great whether you're a fan or not cause there's so much great potential that has been stifled by the company in the past.
This comeback however, has exceeded a lot of expectations and we really get to see the members shine individually and collectively.
I have high hopes for this batch of members, they seem to work well and I hope the company doesn't fudge it up for them cause they deserve better!
This mv needs more attention ❤
JAPANESE LUMINAS ARE GOING BRRRRR RATATA YESSS!!
I'm so proud of them. This is the best example of cultural apreciation. Other k-pop idols and companies should take notes. I loved it🔥🔥All the girls were so beautiful and everything was so well done.
i thought they couldn't get any better after close to me but i was shocked upon listening to karma i think its one of if not their best song so far
Did you listen to cat&mouse? It’s so good too!
Im waiting for next song 🎉❤😊
Thanks for covering them 🤍🤍I love the comeback
Love black swan from Nigeria 🇳🇬💜💜💜💜
This just slayed! They all did an amazing job ❤❤❤! They really appreciated the culture and embraced if correctly and did it right. ❤❤❤❤
The comeback is sooo good everyone visual vocal and performance really shine I’m hopeful for the future and can’t wait for more music from them
Hello sis it's been a long I hope your doing fine for now the girls look fine and care with each other full happiness I hope they're l'll stay together for a long time
The krama song was filming in India but in Odisha, bbsr, the house is in Bhingarpur
FATOU NVEE GABI SRIYA BLACKSWAN, THEY ROCKED PEOPLE SHOCKED
WAIT DAWG THEY ATEEEEEE
Both songs are so good and catchy!
This is their best music release❤🎉
Their 1st performance was amazing!! Im so happy to see their comback!!!
Really hate these Leía simps trying to take down this group. But I guess leías fans are going to act just like leía
I love to see it. There are so many cultures involved with this group it is way beyond just K-pop. This is truly revolutionary for the K-pop industry and honestly the way in which girl groups are portrayed world wide. This is the true definition of a “Global Girl Group”.
The music sounded amazing and the mv looked beautiful!!
I was waiting for you girl ❤❤❤
Sriya is the main dancer not lead dancer. The article made a mistake 😊
Is fatou the main?
Multiple Korean press releases named Sriya as the lead dancer so I’m not sure what DR Entertainment communicated to them. Since I haven’t been able to get a straight answer, I just used the press info to be safe. Hopefully DR will make an official position announcement if Sriya is the main dancer now. They were messy with Fatou’s position in the beginning of Blackswan too (they said she was the main dancer at first then changed her to lead dancer out of nowhere) so I’m wary
@@lovelysexy3089 Fatou is the leader and main rapper
They are so so good. I just want the to win soooo bad 😍😍😍
Adeola has miss ur content
I love this
Someone's gonna comment: cUlTuRal aPprOprIatIoN
They were saying this on Twitter lol
Nah they can't. The culture they are showing is to be precise the Odia culture that represents Sreya. It's her home state culture more than Indian.
I'm pretty sure it would be non Indians who would complain about cultural appropriation, us Indians are loving this cultural appreciation
All members i love you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so happy for the women and this looks so well done and it seems like the company took this comeback seriously. I saw a few people on quora who said that BlackSwan danced in front of a sacred Hindi tenple (or a place of worship) and that was disrespectful. If this is true then that's f*cked up and it would be a disappointment.
Sriya is Hindu herself, so I’m curious if the people starting this discourse are Hindu themselves. Do you have a link to the quora discussion?
We wanna know your thoughts about new documentary 😢
I'm not sure but I heard that there's 2 new member from Korea & Japan will join BLACKSWAN (This is just a rumor)
yeah ik, I hope not gonna happened cause it will make fans confused, the company needs to break the curse
♥♥♥
I wish they just leave these 4 girls but I heard they will add a Japanese girl and Korean girl but I love these 4 alone😢😢
❤️❤️💖💖
i wonder how it is doing in korea
Me too
Some Korean netizens said they really like it! And they think it’s cool that the group is diverse.
@@AdeolaAsh that's nice to hear. I'm Indian so i absolutely loved the way they incorporated my culture into the mv 🥰
@@oishi_hosh2511They love it I saw in tiktok that compliment the girl very well.
Do not encourage them to report spam we should just ignore them.
I will share my thoughts once I finish getting more details on the situation. If you’ve watched my past videos, you already know how I feel.
@@AdeolaAsh Yeah that's right
@@AdeolaAsh mean true but, there were people making slavery art of her and saying many slurs about her.
Your Twitter post....
If you’re going off of that one partial screenshot being passed around, I’d suggest reading my entire thread before making assumptions twitter.com/adeolaash/status/1679489965246550018?s=61 I deleted the tweet that referenced Indian culture, but the rest are still there. If you have any questions, please let me know
From where is 1:45 video??
th-cam.com/video/T3ANUJSe8_k/w-d-xo.html
Why is there a question mark?.
Because I’m answering a question people have been asking/wondering
Look, i am not satisfied with the cinematography but i liked the song. The rap was a a bit out of time and rest was nice. Better than close to me
Honestly i have seen karma first of all that is karm and second of all with those seductive lyrics that is not cultural appropriation not at all that's disrespectful you are showing those temples to saying lyrics about some boy sorry but that's disrespect and using all those elements they mean something to us not just they wanted to make something so they can make anything
appropriate lyrics would be cold play hymn of the weekend and fuzi kaze grace that is what we call cultural appropriation
i wish they could get bigger 🥺🩷❤️💜🩵
Won't you talk about Leia being boycotted and censored by Dr music? She can't even use her insta
As an Indian I was offended.
Can you please tell me which part you found offensive and why?
Lol
@@AdeolaAsh its not the part. Its the idea of businesses taking advantage of culture when they deem it to be useful while never promoting in India
Just typical business move acting like it's a FRIEND of the people
If it was just Koreans doing this fans would've said it's cultural appropriation🙄
@@AdeolaAsh yess they collaborated with a local production house or tourism dep i think🎉🎉
Lmao you're damn right because that's exactly what it is when an all-Korean group does it. It's completely different here. Nice try tho!
