  • Gloucester Township Police: Captain Mark Benton Last Radio Call 5-30-2024
    Effective June 1, 2024, Captain Mark Benton retired from the Gloucester Township Police Department after 25 years and 10 months of honorable service as a full time Gloucester Township Police Officer.
    Captain Benton was hired as a Gloucester Township Police Officer on August 17, 1998. Captain Benton served as a Patrol Officer, and a Traffic Safety Unit Officer. He served as an Operator on the Special Response Team from 2004 to 2015, and was assigned to the Honor Guard Unit in 2005. On February 24, 2010, he was promoted to Sergeant of Police and was assigned as a Deputy Platoon Commander, an Operations Response Unit Supervisor, and Deputy Commander of the Investigations Bureau. On July 27, 2015 he was promoted to Lieutenant of Police and was assigned as a Platoon Commander, Community Relations Bureau Commander, and Juvenile Family Services Bureau Commander. On June 1, 2023, he was promoted to Captain of Police, where he served as the Community Services Division Commander.
