@@slugdays thats gonna be a while. To put some space between anime and manga they are going in depth onto the training they did during the time skip tabata is going to be directing it(i think)

Black Clover getting respect. Finally I’m not one of the few who feels this way. Thank you for this vid! I prefer Black Clover a little more because of the characters and the story feeling more mysterious and more defined. (Mha just feels inconsistent, it’s good/great in aspects but not consistent. Still like both though.
Glad you enjoyed my video, I actually wrote it because I felt Black Clover was severely underappreciated especially against the current crop of Shonen Jump series. For the most part I created my channel to cover what's underappreciated or just even combat misinformation.
Lonely Boy Adventurer I feel the same way. I’ve uploaded multiple vids about why I feel it is underrated as well. But you’ve pretty much summed up most of my thoughts with this vid.
Random Videos wtf are you talking about? you first were talking about Black Clover being a downgrade Naruto which isn’t because they are different besides the Wizard King shit and now you are talking about some type of shit game? Ok bro
I dropped Black Clover at first because the first few episodes didn't grip me much, but after coming back to it a few months later, it's now my current favourite anime c:
I honestly prefer how Black Clover handles Asta over the way My Hero handles Deku. While MHA is the story of Deku becoming great, BC is a story of people realizing how great Asta already is. I personally think it's a really cool way of showing a main character's progression.
Scrubnub I disagree. I prefer the way My Hero handles Deku over the way Black clover handles Asta. Still love both series and MCs, but I really think this is just a matter of personal preference as opposed to objective fact.
If talking about foreshadowing, I admit I lose my mind with what Tabata did with Nero. She was first presented as an anti-magic bird who followed Asta and was just interested in the magic stones for no reason, just to be revealed she was the first wizard king assistant and use the stones to sell the demon and the king's soul into a statue and warding the five clover grimoire, which explained why she was always following Asta and searching for the stones. I just like to think it is a great example on how to do foreshadowing.
I like your last point. When I watch Black Clover... I feel like the author is trying to do just one thing: Entertain me. That's all... and that's enough!
Since it's inception, I've always liked Black Clover. Asta was initially really annoying but I grew to really like him. I also like how Black Clover subverts typical shonen tropes.
That's one element I've always liked about long running series, because even if you initially dislike a character the fact you spend so much time with them eventually they start to grow on you. That's another reason why I prefer Black Clover over My Hero Academia, since seasonally released anime can somewhat prevent the process of developing an attachment to a character through the passing of time.
@@debadityabhowmik6533 i don't consider myself a fanboy but i do think they say it often, its like MHA fanboys and girls always preach animation even if the BC animators get shit from the higher up. Some of each fandom are just so fucking annoying.
I agree and love how the rivalry in BC is more refreshing for battle shonen than the typical ones. In fact its more similar to some sport manga rivalries but in sport manga settings it makes sense the agressiveness is downplayed but in BC there was nothing stopping Tabata from falling into the cliche of the rivals that hate or underestimate the other, or have some inferiority complex. The more healthy rivalry he went for instead, has its adavantges as you mentioned and one advantage for me is that their rivalry is kept so simple that it doesn't feel like most of the story ends up revolving around it (as it often happens).
I watched MHA first but...after discovering Black Clover (Diamond in the rough) it has become number one for me. Asta is definitely a better character than Deku and magic is a more entertaining concept (still like MHA but Black Clover is greatness). It has a great character development (including the females which rarely a shonen does nowadays).
@@debadityabhowmik6533 MHA is worse than BC, it has worse fights, worse characters, worse backstories, and worse worldbuilding. The only thing MHA beats black clover in is Animation and emotion.
@@ggkg3197 How? The I can explain my reasoning even more if you want. Fights: Most of the fights in My Hero Academia are boring and have no depth to it besides the emotional appeal. The fights just simply consists of who punches harder, and then they end with some kind of adrenaline rush that allows them to one-shot the villain. Take for example All Might vs All For One. This fight was supposed to be one of the biggest fights in MHA but the fight itself was very bland and was continuously interrupted with flashbacks or talking. For the parts where they were actually fighting, it was just all might getting beat up, until he somehow obtained some random asspull adrenline rush that allowed him to beat all for one. The same thing with Muscular vs Deku. The fight itself was short and bland, and then deku suddenly used the power of friendship and plot armor to beat a villain who he should've had no realistic chance of beating. The only good thing MHA does with the fights is the emotional appeal. Next up is the worse characters. Nearly none of the class gets much screentime besides about 5 or 6 people (deku, bakugo, Lida, Ochoa, Yarouyoza, Todoroki), and none of these characters feel that interesting. The only one of them who even has a backstory (or a decent one at least) is todoroki. We also don't know much about character motivations besides "I want to be a good hero". Ochoa's motivation is literally "I just want to get money" which is kind of bland. Besides her, we just know that everyone else in the class wants to be a hero, and they don't have unique motivations or backstories. Also, most of them are just uninteresting. Next is the worldbuilding. I don't even have to say much, on this one, but the fact that we don't even know the name of the town that they live in says enough. Outside of the movies where they go to random islands or countires, we literally know nearly nothing about the world.
The fact that I sat through the straight 2 hours of this video without stopping should already tell you how much I enjoyed watching it On top of that, you mentioned a lot of great things that I never even noticed Tabata pulled off when writing this story, and I already loved this series enough😂 Great work put into making this video, you've earned my subscription to the channel, I definitely hit the like button to rewatch this analysis later, and you can definitely expect me to share this video so that others can notice this HEAVILY underrated channel that deserves so much more attention Keep up the great work and you can expect to see my comments in the future👍
Also, one of the strongest points Black Clover has is that almost every character and aspect of the story grows with the audience little by little. Right now, the rivalry in Black Clover is one of my favorites, the main character is one of my favorites, the obligatory female co protagonist is one of my favorites, the mentor figures and the "goal" character (Hokage, Wizard King, Pirate King...) is one of my favorites, the knight squad system (wish I could use the magic robes when I was 15 instead of the Naruto ninja band haha), the captains, hell even the romantic interests are very likable and human. Mimosa doesn´t feel just like that obligatory big tiddy girl that likes the MC, she has depth and personality, and her relationship with Asta is very cute... and don´t even get me started with Sister Lily, that is just legendary haha! (Asta will always be remembered as that loud, no magic kid that wanted to b*** a nun). So in general, I think Black Clover is flawed, but all those flaws and how they develop over time makes the story way more enjoyable. I wish only the best for Black Clover,
This is masterfully done. While being your own opinion, you showed respect to both series and their audiences, and actually put in depth work into researching and thinking about every facet of the shows to prove your point. Great video.
Half of the video is, "and this is where black clover exceeds past my hero." That's not "mAstERfuLly dOnE." He just has a bias toward my hero since its popular.
@@toongamer2810 I would also like to hear what he likes better in my hero but he did a good job in explaining why he likes black clover. So he did do a good job In that department.
@@josefreitas5045 1) Million percent smash vs Muscular. 2) All might's final punch on AFO was basically nakama power. Not to mention it was stupid and made no sense. All Might was on his last legs and AFO could have simply spammed his ranged attacks from a safe distance. But nooo, instead AFO was stupid enough to engage All Might directly with his giant arm.
I like Black clover more than my hero academia because it grabs everything I like about anime and puts it in one thing compaired to my hero academia when it felt like sometimes it was a chore to watch not saying it's a bad show but I enjoy Black clover more
Yeah, I really like the aesthetic in MHA, like character design, quirks, how dinamic and comic like the show is. But sometimes it really is a chore to watch, not even in haikyuu where there are 10 straight chapters of just training happens. it feels as dragged or boring at times.
Nah the reason BLACK CLOVER IS THE MOST FUN ANIME AND ENTERTAINING OUT OF ALL THE ANIMES IVE WATCHED. Which are One Piece, FMAB, Gintama, Code Geass, Death Note , HxH , AOT , Steins Gate is bcuz the MC here gets the PERFECT AMOUNT OF RECOGNITION UNLIKE MOB , AND OPM
Someone gets it. Asta is probably one of the best characters written in anime. The man's has zero asspull in a shounen, and anything considered bs power ups are explained throughout the anime. This coming from a guy who's seen the top 100 anime on MAL.
I definitely think Noelle took the base of Sakura, but substantially improved upon it. She possesses a backstory and the proper rationale explaining her mental alter ego, of which Sakura lacked. Noelle can stay afloat independent of Asta: her own family and relationships, her own battles, etc. unlike Sakura whose existence depended on Naruto/Sasuke.
Lonely Boy Adventurer Sakura had so much promise too lmao, I remember the start of shippuden, she was a badass who saved kankuro wasn’t afraid of sasori etc, then she went downhill LMAO
@Kingdrago101 She did, she provided nothing to story and always felt like she was behind sasuke and naruto. Sad because i actually liked her. Kishimoto just aint good at female characters, man even said it
Me: Why not use Black Divider it would shut them up faster. That or introduce Deku to a new character for them to ship him with. Poor Deku. im not even going to dare look up MHA on wattpad or Fanfiction.net cause i know what will pop up. And heres the only reason why mha is better. MHA isnt long running meaning the manga has time to come out. Black clover is long running and is right behind the manga right now. Manga is nearing the end of the Spade war arc anime is at Yami and Asta's tag team against Dante. hence why it is ending on the 30th so the manga can go farther and stay ahead. and so a naruto or bleach filler arc doesnt happen especially because of the spade arc which was very hyped is happening. but for a long running anime it still has great animation. sure there are some bad places all animes have those points. so the mha having better animation argument cant do anything. Black clover has been running for 3 years nonstop with an episode every week and ive only seen 2 spots in the beginning of the show where the animation looked bad those being where Magna took his glasses off they appeared and disappeared then he put them back on, and the cgi Mars fight. however if the studio was to redo those episodes the cgi would look greater and more in line with the anime's art style and the minor glitch with magna's glasses would be fixed. but personally i like those factors as it shows how far the studio has come when it comes to Black clover.
Thank you for spreading my video around it is greatly appreciated!, I have posted some of my videos to various subreddits, but they really didn't help me gain any traction.
I also just MUCH prefer Black Clover's aesthetic and the fights feel more well thought out than imma-hit-harder-now brawls makes me wish I'd been able to watch it at 10 and obsess over the thought of living in the clover kingdom and what my OC would be like I used to watch Naruto
To be perfectly honest I didn't start making TH-cam videos just to win a popularity contest, I primarily did it because I felt misinformation was being spread about great series (Black Clover, Inuyasha, The Original Broly) to which I strove to correct, like when I was writing this video I anticipated most of its traffic was going to be from My Hero Academia fans disagreeing with my opinions, so all its positive feedback caught me by surprise. For the most part creating TH-cam videos has been solely a passion project for me, and the every now then comment of hearing someone say I changed their mind has been rewarding enough. Either way I'm glad to hear you appreciated my work, so thanks for the compliment.
@@krakenmaster2743 Deku Didn't train for his powers he got them from all might and Is training to use them when Asta never got magic. @@omegajoex asta still got power tho he has given form that makes him strong a demon or devil or something like that. in the end and deku does train to control his powers literally before he got them he trained and also in mha if you don’t have powers your pretty much nothing no matter how hard you train with out powers nothing will really happen the whole show is about your powers. And deku does put in a lot of work you people act like if you main goal was to do something but you can do out because they way you’re born that you wouldn’t feel some type of way about it and even told by your idol not only that deku had no one but his mom and even his mom was nah son you trash. I mean no one beloved in him in bc too but he had a lot of people to fall back on delis only “friend” before UA hates him I like the hate between them shoes that they are human. Also remember that even all might would have trouble with dekus one for all as it gets stronger with every generation all might. Mha shows actaul relatable characters and real life problems the only I can see in bc is the social class. Of course deku would be nothing without all might he has no quirk how could compete against some one without a quirk like endeavor the only reason mirio could is because he is an anomaly and also he only could for a certain amount of time before he would have lost to chisaki. But for the TLDR: deku does train
Your first point is definitely one of Black Clover's strongest suits. Tabata was smart in making all of the characters as one-dimensional. She was a lewd witch, he was obsessed with his sister, he was obsessed with girls, he liked fighting too much, she liked eating too much...When their arc came, Tabata was able to expand why they became these singular traits AND subsequently expanded their characters. What they could be turned into what they are right now. This is why I love BC. I'm a sucker for character development and Tabata continues to bring it every single time.
Great points, when I began reading your comment I thought it was about to sarcastically mock Black Clover, so hearing you actually praise the series came as some relief.
@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 Sorry if it sounded that way, English is my third language. I know it's a bit awkward and all over the place 😅 Tabata is just really good with taking the common tropes and morphing it into his own. I respect that. I wrote that when you were still on your first point btw! I'll drop comments again after listening *again* to your next points. So many factors you've included, especially the setting of both stories! BC world is extremely rich that I feel like it's a tangible place I could explore. I love how we have a map of the continent too lol I'm a sucker for those. Cheers to you for still checking the comments! I can't wait to watch your follow up to this! Stay safe x
No, As a black clover fan, the animation is good for most of the important scenes, but for filler scenes or less important scnes, the animation is terrible.
Mid video rn and I just wanna say that BC absolutely knocks it out of the park with foreshadowing from the very beginning with just the Demon Skull and the First Wizard King statue alone, not to mention Yuno's necklace that he's had since he was a baby, which btw has multiple foreshadows in and of itself (shoutouts to the manga readers who know what I'm talking about)
Spoiler: Prince YUNO of the SPADE KINGDOM WHO MOM AND DAD HAS DIED AND A GUARDIAN TOOK HIM TO THE HAGE VILLAGE TO BE SAFE MEANING THAT THE PRIEST COULD HAVE SOME SORT OF CONNECTION TO THE SPADE KINGDOM
I love mha and black clover but when it comes to storyline I like black clover more and they give the side characters their time to shine, but all in all I love both series and respect both authors😊
Can't Blame you, I notice you got a Gegege no Kitaro icon as your avatar that was one of my top 2 anime of 2018, between it and Black Clover, tough decision, I actually debated making a video on it at episode 50 thinking it was about to conclude, but then it carried on and I thought I would wait a little while longer, still open to the idea of writing one though.
Despite the title and the incoming war between fanboys; this is a very in depth analysis of the series. Highlighting alot of details that go unnoticed by casual watchers. Thank you
Also, the battle between Deku and Bakugo that you referenced does not come out of nowhere. It's a direct fallout from the end of All Might as a hero. They both looked up to him as kids, and this is a relatively big moment for Bakugo, because he's been told all his life that he's so great, and he thought that Deku was completely beneath him. They both get into UA, which infuriates him and makes him confused. Then he sees that he's outclassed by Todoroki and starts doubting himself. It's like a fish that is big for it's small tank, but it gets moved to the ocean and it has to cope with that. Plus, he thinks that Deku lied to him about having a quirk this whole time. He thinks that Deku was looking down on him all along. And he loses to Deku in the battle with the "bomb" early on. Deku told him that his power was borrowed from someone else. He can see that All Might and Deku spend a lot of time together. When All Might finally loses the last embers of OFA, and says, "You're next," and Deku reacts completely differently to that statement than anyone else, he finally has that confirmed to him. That his idol chose his "insignificant" peer instead of him. Bakugo blames himself for All Might's downfall because he was rescued in the events that caused that to happen. He's feeling guilty and that his whole worldview was completely wrong. It didn't come out of nowhere.
Honestly i kinda agree i felt more for asta when people looked down on himeven though he worked hard everyone looked down on him in my hero literally the only perso who bullied him was bakugou so i honestly didn't feelbad for him
@WillFanofMany i like Asta because he really really worked hard than deku and the Story Its interesting And kinda Motivating For my opinion bc Is still better
Did... Did you see the first episode of My Hero Academia? He was fucking ridiculed by his classmates for wanting to be a hero. Bakugo was just his most abusive bully.
hmm how do I put this, people already expect Asta to be great/strong/powerful, even Julius noticed Asta is special because he can wield an anti-magic weapon and they already saw what he can do, they already clear his name with Juno help, they show each other power/magic in front of everyone in the kingdom but not for Deku. Right from the start until now, people still think Deku doesn't deserve his power, one of them is Nighteye, and after All Might retire, there's a lot of burden on his shoulder rn. I prefer the way BNH approach in storytelling, they buff the main same villain, instead of changing to a new main villain every arc.
Старший брат зулфадзли yeah but without Asta’s strength. He wouldn’t have been able to lift those swords. So Asta didn’t get his power handed to him. He worked for it. But deku got the most powerful quirk in the whole world. Even though deku did work for it. It doesn’t give that same motivation as Asta.
I personally dislike mha and find it boring but I don't think it's a bad series. From what I've read of the manga and the analysis videos I've seen on it, I think it's a pretty solid series, it's just not my thing. I think that mha and Black Clover are around the same area when it comes to how good the writing is. Only difference for me at least is that I vastly prefer Black Clover because I enjoy the characters, power system, plot, etc. more than MHA. I believe it all comes down to personal preference to decide which series is better in the end.
One of the things I like about Black Clover is that it's a reverse 'chosen one' story. I don't have a problem with its animation. But one of the very few issues I have with black clover is that there are too many team battles and not enough 1 vs. 1 fights. I still love the series though.
That's a great point. I, on the other hand, enjoy seeing support style characters shine. I got hooked after the vetto fight. There is no other anime I can think of that shows teamwork choreography on BCs level. But I can totally see how'd you like 1v1 style shounen like one piece and naruto
I’ve watched both and I always seemed to like Black Clover just a little bit more than My hero though don’t get me wrong I absolutely love My hero but there was something about Black Clover that got me hooked the first episode i watched. It didn’t matter that Black Clover had pretty bad animation i still loved everything fight scene, every comedic scene, and the serious scenes too and don’t get me started on how many times I listened to the openings but i feel like there’s something that My hero is missing and it’s something that Black Clover nailed easily
This video, apart from pointing out some great aspects of BC, it explains my issues with MHA. So now I understand better why I enjoy one more than the other.
35:00 You're 100% right about Stain being a hypocrite, his morality is so unclear and contradictory and I can tell he was inspired by a lot of better written comic anti-heroes but he just misses the mark where those characters are great, Iida's brother is introduced to us as a truly caring and devoted small-time hero (at least compared to AM) who cares about saving people more than anything else yet Stain tries to kill him, Todoroki also doesn't do anything that should clash with his ideology AND he's just a high schooler yet Stain tries to kill him too, but doesn't try to kill Deku because...he has magical heroic MC aura like All Might, I guess? Lol. One thing I disagree with is AM being narcissistic though but otherwise you're right, he does publicize himself a lot and we're told that's part of why Eraserhead doesn't really like him and why he contrasts with Endeavor who just does his hero work and doesn't worry about the public's perception of him, I thought they were going to lead up to Stain going after someone like Endeavor after finding out what he'd done to his kids or Mount Lady or introduce another hero who was extremely narcissistic and a bad person. The thing that makes Stain _even worse_ and more badly written is the fact that, despite coming across like a psychotic murderer who arbritrarily uses some flimsy hypocritical moral code that he seemingly breaks a lot when he feels like it as an excuse to kill, he's supposed to have an ideology so solid and logical that even normal people who love heroes and have grown up in a society admiring heroes greatly where there's no signs of the average person being exploited or treated badly by them begin to admire Stain, even to the extent of Kaminari thinking he's cool when he crippled his own classmate's brother, Iida and him aren't best buddies but all the 1A kids are pretty close and friendly to one another and that's kind of fucked up when you think about because that's someone he actually knows whose brother was permanently crippled.
You and this man are absolute idiots in this part. Stain respects that all might worked for everything. You people act like All Might thinks of himself as some sort of god, and that he had all of his fame planned. Get a clue, jesus.
@@sirdabsalot1yt83 that's not even a side statement of the paragraph. That's the main point actually. This was all because Stain admired all might and deku as true heroes. Read the paragraph again bruh.

@@sirdabsalot1yt83 Jesus christ you must have a lot of time on your hands. No, I didn't come to this video because I didn't like that someone else didn't like something as much as I do. I came here because I was intrigued to why the creator of the video thought this way. And once I finished the video, I came down here to discuss and state why his views and thoughts were kinda inconsistent as both a Black Clover and My Hero fan. (Although I like My hero more.) And you're kinda being a jerk, making it seem like he OBJECTIVELY sucks ass as a villain. Again, your words here: "that's your opinion." And I'm not spouting senseless claims without logic or reason. I'm throughly making the effort to explain why I think this way, if I'm asked why in the comments. At this point I'm thinking you're kinda mad that I like a character that you don't. I don't think hes the "best in the universe," that's when I could tell you were reaching. I think hes a really good villain because his ideology to why hes killing heroes, and to why he respects all might and deku are really interesting in the universe of my hero academia. Its fascinating to see someone think like this in the show instead of the common "hero good villain bad" stereotype. And I know what you're trying to say when you stated to "find a more interesting stance" but you using the word "interesting" in there just makes it sound like you personally aren't interested in what I have to say, so that my opinion is completely invalid. If anything you just sound like those people who hate on My Hero Academia for no reason.
@@sirdabsalot1yt83 and stain isn't a hypocrite. You and the original commenter got that part incorrect. He respects deku and compares him to all might (whom he looks up to, and is the reason for why he does all of this) and rightfully so, as deku's words and ideals are similar to all might's as deku essentially wants to be the same thing as all might. Someone who saves people with a smile, not for greed but for the heroic act of it. And you guys act like Stain is some omnipotent god, in that he HAS to kill everyone who's in the hero business for the money or fame as soon as we meet him. No, hes only human, and when we find out about stain for the first time, hes only killed a few heroes and has crippled ingenium. If Iida, todoroki and deku hadn't done something when they did, sure, mount lady or other potential greedy heroes would be dead possibly. I'm pretty sure Stain kills people based off of his own preconceived notion that all heroes are scum that are in it for the fame. But when stain listens to deku explain why he came to his friend's rescue, he realizes that hes similar to all might. Deku and All Might proved themselves to Stain as people that aren't like the rest of them. Stain's world view is only based on what he thinks most heroes are. Unless they actively do something to show that they aren't like the rest, Stain probably won't believe anyone.
That’s the bad part about an anime doing as good as MHA, it established a large fanbase, became a global phenomenon, but it also got to the point of having fans so devoted that any sort of criticism of an anime doing better then it or just doing some things better then it leads to a sea of salt from the fans, So making a video literally called black Clover does everything better then My Hero Academia takes some guts, and I respect this guy for it
At first I didn’t wanna watch Black Clover cause people kept saying it was just like Naruto but then I realized basically every anime is like Naruto now so I watched it and I’m still enjoying it till this day but with MHA sometimes I’d have to take breaks cause I was getting bored or tired the show is still good tho
Good to hear you eventually came around. For the record if you watch anime for more than a generation most newer series will seem similar to something from the past. Naruto was heavily inspired by Hunter x Hunter, which itself rehashed many ideas from Yu Yu Hakusho.
Black Clover does group dynamics better. I will even go so far as to say that it integrates the same group dynamics into group battles and uses this to enhance every group fight scene. I was quite impressed with how every interaction in the earlier episodes will add layers to later events and fights seamlessly.
Honestly, I 100% agree with you. MHA is a good anime, don’t get me wrong, but I think that Black Clover is much, *much* better. I also think BC deserves wayyyy more love and even just people watching the show. It’s SUCH a good anime imo, it should be noticed more!!
@@debadityabhowmik6533 MHA is worse in terms of fights, pacing, and interesting characters or interesting backstories.MHA fights are super bland and are only good because of the emotional aspects of them, MHA characters are forgettable, and none of them have cool backstories or even cool personalities except for the villians. Black Clover on the other hand has action packed fight scenes and all of the important fight scenes such as Asta vs Vetto or Yuno vs Rill or Julius vs Licht all have really good animation. Another important aspect of Black Clover fights is the strategy involved. Unlike MHA, Black Clover fights use strategy such as when Asta, Finral and Vanessa had to use a combination of spacial magic and string magic to strategically pull Asta away from Vetto's fights while contrrolling asta like a puppet. MHA has interesting characters and most of them have cool or at least slightly intersting backstories such as Luck, Rill, Vanessa, and others. I prefer Black Clover than MHA because I feel black clover does everything better except for consistent animation.
Jantheking I KKOW RIGHT!? Like a few characters from Mha that do have good backstories and personalities are; Himiko Toga. Amazing backstory. Todoroki is what most people would put on the list. He has a pretty good backstory and I find his design to be pretty likeable. But honestly, dabi is 100x better in every way. his character is interesting, he has an amazing design, works with hawks, and we don’t know too much about him. Honestly the rest of the list would be villains. I feel as if Mha has too MANY characters that are forgettable and don’t get enough screen time like Ojiro, Hagakure, Sero, Kaminari (except for the love from the fandom he gets), Mina, and a lot more. Kyoka just had a big arcainly focused on her so she’s not really on that list anymore. Black clover has nowhere near as many side characters, amazing backstories and personalities, great art, and the fight scenes are amazing. Like you said, black clover is far better in everything BUT animation quality.
One of my biggest problems with MHA is the fact that Deku is at times delusional of him wanting to become a hero, and people claim him to be relatable which I can see, Deku a boy with his dreams crushed of wanting to become a hero, despite being powerless and told so by his greatest idol he still rushes in to save bakugo. Personally thought that at first Deku was a great character but from there on out it just goes downhill for Deku, he cries way too much and the more you think about his motives the dumber and more flawed they become, first despite wanting to become a hero, he studied and theorizes on quirks and.... nothing else... he only starts to work hard once he gets promises a quirk in return, and I get the whole idea of passing down a legacy instead of getting it through eugenics but fans make it out as if this part of the story was supposed to emphasize on hard work. And people give countless of blind praises to MHA for having deku cry a lot... showing human emotions is fine and really and making a character that feels human is great for establishing a connection to a character but the problem here is that it feels like making Deku cry is just constantly spammed like “oh people liked that lemme just make some more of that”, and I just lost the appeal for his “relatable” character. Asta on the other hand is a hard working guy with nerves of steel and rock hard mentality yet a really fragile personality and it strikes home with me way harder when Asta despite passing the most important part of the exam with flying colours he still at first gets declined by everyone because of his lack of magic, his lack of inheritance and I feel like this is a very overlooked part of the series. What Black Clover does is it takes hard work over legacy and inheritance. Creating your own identity away from your family or whatever you inherit and becoming your own individual is a way more relatable and in my opinion better message than what ever the hell MHA tried to do at the beginning as it seemingly contradicts its own messages and morals times and times again. The only “criticism” I EVER hear about black clover is: - lack of originality - Asta screaming - Animation - Pacing not allowing character development where as MHA is more balanced and lets its character have more space to breathe in (which I think is BS) And the only genuine criticism I ever hear about the series is coming from the fans that really care about the show and it atina me how similiar the character arcs in black clover is matching the real life situation of MHA and Black Clover and it is hilariously meta.
One idea that I think sums up your issue and many of the other problems in My Hero Academia is that the series itself has a tendency to create the illusion of intensity when it really isn't. Like Horikoshi will make a character cry thinking it will make the scene more intense, but what actually makes a scene intense is the surrounding circumstance, which he can be a little weak at, so when the final product is released the character's emotions and the unfolding scene can come as incoherent. Plus when scenes that aren't meant to be intense are written that way they just lessen the scenes that are actually supposed to be that way. I definitely agree with your interpretation of other peoples criticism of the series, because I admit there are flaws in Black Clover, but when most non fans attempt to criticize the series they just appear as nit picky
@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 yup but I'm surprised to see this video had such a positive reaction I barely see any negative comments. I found your content really interesting and I have subscribed as I believe it will be worth it!
No joke, I legitimately see those four "criticisms" everywhere. I'd say the one that easily annoys me the most is the Asta screaming part since it's a problem that is easily solved by: A. Reading the manga B. Watching the dub C. Watching past the first 5 episodes of the show. As for the generic complaint, I kind of agree? The thing is, although the show has generic ideas, it executes them pretty well in my opinion. Not liking the animation is fair enough, it definitely has its bad moments. What people tend to forget is that there are some extremely good moments in the animation too. One example that comes to mind is Asta and Yuno vs Licht. Wait... there are people who actually say that BC has bad pacing for character development?! One of the main things that I enjoy about the manga is that it moves really quickly which is a breath of fresh air since the anime I watched before BC was One Piece which is infamous for it's slow pacing. I also enjoy how most of the characters in BC have their own time to shine along with their own motivations as simple as they may be.
Yeah yeah "DeKu cRiEs ToO muCh" that's literally the only argument you people bring up. Mha fans can say the animation is shit, and the story is generic, which they both are. But in defense you black clover fans just bash the littlest things about my hero. Animation and originality are big. A character crying in the beginning isn't.
Black clover looks cool and I'll check it out but so many people act like liking MHA is a curse, it's fine to like a show no matter its flaws, and it's not like MHA is objectively bad, popular doesn't equal bad. Let people enjoy things. P.S. This is for the people in the comments, not the video
@@evergreates4198 yeah it's pretty high on my plan to watch list atm, I've only heard good things from like episode 30 onwards and the OP's that I've heard are fire. Definitely going to watch soon.
One reason why I think black clover is better is becuase 1. The intros and endings actally are trying to talk about depression and negative thoughts and emotions 2.saved me FROM depression 3.has a perfect story line
I would also say... the robes that correspond to each different squad help separate them out, so that there is no mix up between the groups, whereas the UA's uniform makes everyone look much more similar. Which makes sense because of the setting, but it takes away the characters' individuality as well as the sense of unity amongst specific groups. The OPs are better for BC all the time.
That is a very good point, on both ends too. Now that you mention it, it seems kinda weird that UA didn't do anything to make the different classes' uniforms standout from one another to help the audience (or heroes scouting for interns) identify which group said student belong too. I'm glad you left this comment. *Minor Correction* I forgot to mention I was specifically referring to the gym uniforms during the sports festival arc, I just felt the need to mention that and clear up what I meant by saying audience.
I love both anime’s equally and the mangas for both are about to go into a big war arc. Black cover needs to get a bigger fan base because the anime right now is on point. And it’s great to watch both anime’s cus they release at different times of the week so it’s nice to have a few story’s to follow. And black covers ops are a lot better in my opinion but my hero still has great ops. I’ve never liked any ops for any show besides these too.
Black Clover is consistently better and has better power system that makes sense, badass characters, emotional and epic scenes, etc all of those are better in Black Clover imo.
Ironically, I think you undersold early BC fights a bit. Because Asta can just cancel any one big attack and one shot any mage he can get a strike on, the enemies have to have to put up at least some effort not to get immediately countered, and the end result is that Asta is completely helpless alone, but can take down much more powerful threats with good support and strategy.
I actually agree with you to a certain extent, as when I writing this video I did it all off of memory, but when it came time to edit the early fights (primarily the Mars fight) appeared more impressive than what I originally remembered. Though I do still hold my opinion that the powers and battles of the series have radically improved from where they were in the past.
Not really, Asta can't cancel any big attack as if it was nothing, anti-magic negates the spell, but not the force of it, meaning that if Asta isn't strong enough to negate the force of the spell, he gets hit
The amount of views and subs you have is absolutely criminal. Your videos are amazing, well written and bring forward interesting topics that aren't really talked about much in the anime community. Thanks for all the content and I wish you the best of luck :D
Thank you for the compliment. Comments like these are why I continuing making videos. I actually started making videos because I felt too many other anime youtubers just began to follow the trend of regurgitating whatever is popular at the moment, so I wanted to cover what's under-discussed or go into greater detail analyzing everything, so your latter observation hit the nail on the head.
Bc makes a parallel to issues in our society today -class, disability, war, racism- tabata also does a good job at fleshing out and developing his female characters. Main and side characters get development and are not pushed to the side. He does a good job at moving the plot while giving characters development.
another thing is how everyones "idol" falls, the wizard king and all might. they are both rendered unable to do their jobs, but continue to nurture the next gen. the wizard king instills his ideals and encouragment to all, whereas all might nurtures a single student far more than everyone else
I got to say, I love the style that Black Clover goes for when its posing the cast of characters. Like you can clearly see physique, clothing, the proportion of body part comparison and the clothing/accessories (Like the diamond items on mars forehead and black robe surrounding his inner white clothing).
I've been with black clover since episode 40 was the latest episode of the show and was slowly updating I would always hype it up and get myself hyped I'm a og fan and I'm on the manga waiting for a new chapter though...but besides the point it's good to see how wrong people were about it...i swear i would brag about how good it was during the beginning to my friends and they said that it was garbage, I didn't like it, meh, but now they are hyping it up and even saying I never told them so...I only respect the people who were OGs of black clover and never switched on it only to come back when people said some epic thing happened...I despise those people but nothing can be done once its damaged and I say welcome to the fandom but still Black clover is underrated vastly and youtubers are finally putting it In the spotlight...it might be the next naruto if it keeps up with how it's working out rn...crazy to think such a anime that I called amazing since the first episode...hope it can go down in history as one of the most comeback compatible anime...well sorry for the rant carry on with you regular scheduled program... Salty MHA FANS LMAO I'm a fan myself BUT I CAN AGREE HERE AND I LOVE BLACK CLOVER MORE.
I feel like My Hero Academia and Black Clover are two sides of the same coin. One takes influences from western comic books and the other takes influence from other shonen. They both cater to different tastes, but I don't think its necessarily accurate to call one better than the other. It's like comparing Naruto and Bleach, it's gonna get you nowhere. Both shonen have their advantages and drawbacks.
LunaSPX I’m specifically referring to the mangas here because the anime’s are the adaptation of the mangakas work. The reason you can sit thru more episodes of My hero is because studio Bones not only has a better animation roster but producers in general. My point still stands that the writing of Black Clover is better then the writing in My Hero
wack writing quality is not subjective. How introspective, immersive, and interesting a story is can all be gauged. The one the biggest parts of literature is the critique of others works. Black clover has a more advanced, in depth power system compared to My hero. Black clover has actual world build, while My hero has little to none ( I do however recognize that that’s mostly do to the setting of My hero just being alternate japan, so there isn’t much to show geographically wise ). The villains in Black Clover are far superior to the ones of My hero, where as all of them have legitimate reasonings for their actions and many of them change ideologies thru the course of the series. The main cast of Black clover ( The Black Bulls ) have much more fleshed characters then Class A. And to top all this off Asta is verbatim a better “ underdog “ protagonist then Deku. Asta’s life without his powers would have been incredibly hard because you can’t even get a job or perform general tasks without magic. While Deku could have just lived a normal life as a civilian, or even join the business or technology branch of the hero association. Their motives or being number 1 also are leagues apart. Asta lives in the clover kingdom which has blatant Racism and Classism, where the nobles think they are genetically superior to the commoners. The nobles abuse and even murder civilians. Asta is not only a lowly commoner but also is the only person in know history with no mana, making him basically disabled in their world. Asta dreams to become Wizard king to end the racism and classism within his society, something he and his family have suffered from their whole lives. Deku on the other hand wants to become the number 1 hero because he think Almight is cool.
I like MHA and BC, hell I probably like MHA more then BC but I'm not gonna be some salty MHA fan who tries defending it by saying literally nothing other then eVerYtHing yUo sAiD iS wRoNg and providing no evidence because I honestly agree with everything said in this video
I know my response is semi-changing the topic since you basically agreed with what I said, but I have a profound sense of respect for people (like yourself) who are willing to listen to other's opinions even if they don't necessarily run with their own, and afterwards still being able to maintain civility.
Another thing of foreshadowing is the “midnight sun” and the “golden dawn” are basically the same names just different with there leaders both being in the same body its very very minor and could just be a coincidence
14:28 this is the exact reason why I was WAY More sympathetic towards Asta compared to Deku. Deku still has a purpose in society and won't be treated like a full on outcast. Whereas Asta was in a situation where he literally had no purpose and no way to contribute to society. If he had died before getting his grimoire, nothing would change, he wouldn't have made a difference to the world. That's what makes me admire him so much, becuz he was still willing to prove everyone wrong.
Both black clover and mha are both in the top ten of shonen jump. From this the creators of both series already got ton of money from this but one day I can see black clover will catch up or even surpass mha
I like both but I’m more on bc due to the fact on how they surprised people on how bb had more members then we thought and each were strong in there own ways
Yeah, I totally agree with your first point. Those names. There's a reason why they had to put the names and quirks of the cast on screen almost every episode. I was a manga reader of MHA so I was quite familiar with their names and abilities, so I found those name tags super annoying. Now that you mentioned it, I kinda understand why they had to do it for the uninitiated, but if they had to do it like that (almost in a brainwashing way), then it's definitely not a good point for the show. For Black Clover, though, I want to see Asta use his demon-dweller sword more in combination with other magics like he did with Noelle in the first Mars fight. I thought it would be a staple after it was first shown, but it kinda ended up a bit forgotten.
well, it wasn't really forgotten, but it wasn't used that often, because Asta didn't knew how it worked, but had a better idea of it by seeing how licht used it. Now he can use it with his own power, however, I think he still don't use it at full potential, and it's because of how the demon dweller works (it draws power from the ones Asta has a bound with, but it's not obvious, so we can assume that Asta is partially aware of the ability. But still I have to agree, I would love to see him use it more often
@@yonatanhoresh2695 Ehh... MHA isn't one of the best, but it's definitely a great anime overall Same for BC though, especially with its anime adaptation
See I’m attached to every Black Bull, and every character from Black Clover because we know more about them. Black Clover is one of those few anime where we know a lot about almost all of the Charecters and each Charecter gets their development and gets their time to shine. I can’t say that if a lot of the class 1-A died I would be sad.
This is my first video from you and it is perfect. I will be following your channel from now on. These sort of videos are really enjoyable to watch due to how compact the details are brought onto the table.
Another wonderful case of foreshadowing in black clover is at the very end of the first episode before Asta get his grimoire the screen flashes and for a few frames Astas half devil form is shown. We wouldn't see this form again for another 60ish episodes during the witches forest arc.
This was well worth watching. I forgot about grey showing up in the background. Great work on pointing out the rivalry between asta and yuno. I understand the love that's been put into writing this great tale of asta. I started getting annoyed with asta at first but now hes grown on me. I just finished reading all of TOG and even that was great and another candidate for being one of this generations of greatness. BC to me looks to destroy all limits of its predessecors where as mha is too safe and has too many limits which wont be able to expand. Although it's not I dont like mha it's good but theres no freedom to push its limits. Oh loved the part when yami tells all the boys to be a man and take a peek at the women at the top of the volcano. And mereleona commented that there is still hope.
@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 for TOG, I found it to be a really good read and it really got my emotions and mind running through out the journey so far. But unlike any other I've experienced, I've never felt so satisfied for some of the outcomes and it left me reflecting about the process of the build up. To the point that I needed to try and anticipate my blood boiling. Anyway I just wanted to know your thoughts. It's ok if you dont.
I do eventually plan on watching Tower of God, but I've just been a bit busy lately, as I've been working on two back to back hour plus long videos, which can be a bit time consuming.

something i also find intresting is that while the golden dawn looks down of the black bulls Vangeance actually dosen't because he knows yami and beleives in those who were chosen by yami
@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 war arc besides some things was pretty great, and the first half of the VH arc hit all the right notes, but the second the damn class brought him back cause they can “share the burden” (turns out they couldn’t) so damn fast and reverted Deku back to his old self for the most part, that started the downfall and it unfortunately got worse. So much potential just thrown away
What made me upset in MHA was the extreme power up of Shigaraki and Izuku, like...he was trying little by little, to control OFA which was too powerful for his physical strength, and then, one day, he starts to get 6 other powers absurdly broken compared to the rest of the class. And the same goes for Shigaraki, I was really happy to see him having some developpement and, like the students, improving his quirk, but then, they decided to give him multiple quirks to make him stronger. I know it's well explained and makes sense with what was said...but...I couldn't help but feeling that this was way, way too quick
@@phantom9831 Shiggy I could understand to an extent, but for deku, him having 6 quirks on top of OFA was just ridiculous. Shiggy unfortunately got screwed over hard thanks to AFO and the entire story keeps on crashing so many times
@@jeffreyali1456 Yeah, but for Shiggy even if it's as you said, understandable to a certain extent...to be honest, it was until the chapter when he gained an abiliity to grow hands, which was stated as "not a quirk, but human evolution" I really like Mha as a whole, but when I saw that, I thought it was BS
Honestly, as a manga reader of both and after reading and understanding the story, let me say this: I like how the author handles the characters of BC more than MHA. Why? To me, mha's character development mostly goes to Deku and no one else for awhile. The guys, like Kirishima, Sero and more doesnt get much character development. Especially the girls. But BC gives character development fairly and it gives to all characters. This is my opinion and reason why I like BC more.

In the My Hero Academia spin off, Vigilantes: My Hero Academia Illegals, there's a vigilante named Knuckleduster, who acts as the protagonist, Koichi's mentor. He is a former Pro Hero who ended up quirkless after fighting All For One. I thought this was interesting to bring up because he was unable to fight strong opponents like AFO, but he wasn't really set back too much because of it. He still manages to fight crime despite being quirkless.
@jackalexande I've been hearing a lot of people claim that Vigilantes actually beats the mainline story and because of that I've been considering checking into it myself, so yeah I'll look out for what you said when I finally get to reading it.
32:00 we all know you're comparing them because they're both the Gaara rip-offs of their respective series lol. -All were raised as weapons and had either an absent or abusive parental/authority figure in their lives who isolated them from their peers/siblings -All possess a powerful defensive fighting style/ability (sand/ice/diamond) that makes them seem like an untouchable opponent to the MC who is usually written as being lower in status to them in comparison somehow, usually by having far less natural talent/ability -All of them came around after getting Talk no Jutsu'ed by the MC -All of them were isolated growing up but had one person they truly loved as a child who was taken away from them which caused them to become more callous and to push people away (Gaara's uncle/Fana/Rei Todoroki) -They all have some sort of facial marking that represents what they've had taken from them (Gaara's forehead mark that he gave himself after killing his uncle/Todoroki's burn mark from his mother/Mars' forehead diamonds from when he was chosen to be altered by the Diamond kingdom after killing Fana)
After almost two hours of listening to you do an incredibly articulate, in-depth, and well thought out breakdown, analysis and comparison, I wish you had broken the video down into three or four parts.
I appreciate your praise and in regards to the video's length during its conception I fully intended to split it up into multiple parts, but after spending several months working on it when the time came to finally do so, the idea of separating it into several pieces, honestly felt like I would have been dismembering a bit of myself in the process, since I had put so much prior effort into it. Again I'm glad you could still appreciate my video despite its length.

That's one element I've always liked about long running series, because even if you initially dislike a character the fact you spend so much time with them eventually they start to grow on you.

@@debadityabhowmik6533 MHA is worse than BC, it has worse fights, worse characters, worse backstories, and worse worldbuilding. The only thing MHA beats black clover in is Animation and emotion.
@@jantheking7028 I think ur being a bit too harsh on mha.
The fact that I sat through the straight 2 hours of this video without stopping should already tell you how much I enjoyed watching it

Yeah, I really like the aesthetic in MHA, like character design, quirks, how dinamic and comic like the show is. But sometimes it really is a chore to watch, not even in haikyuu where there are 10 straight chapters of just training happens. it feels as dragged or boring at times.

Hey noele is a useful shounen wamen don't compare her to sakura.

You're welcome and I appreciate your review of my video.
eh I feel like it's still heavily biased but, still well researched.
It didn't come out of nowhere.
i did not watch the entire video but did he say that mha is a underdog story anywhere ?
Honestly i kinda agree i felt more for asta when people looked down on himeven though he worked hard everyone looked down on him in my hero literally the only perso who bullied him was bakugou so i honestly didn't feelbad for him

hmm how do I put this, people already expect Asta to be great/strong/powerful, even Julius noticed Asta is special because he can wield an anti-magic weapon and they already saw what he can do, they already clear his name with Juno help, they show each other power/magic in front of everyone in the kingdom but not for Deku.
Same
One of the things I like about Black Clover is that it's a reverse 'chosen one' story.

Honestly, I 100% agree with you. MHA is a good anime, don’t get me wrong, but I think that Black Clover is much, *much* better. I also think BC deserves wayyyy more love and even just people watching the show. It’s SUCH a good anime imo, it should be noticed more!!
Lmao... MHA is miles above BC in terms of... Well, everything.
I prefer MHA simply because I don't like the schedueling for BC, too many episodes in a short amount of time.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my video
The only “criticism” I EVER hear about black clover is:
- lack of originality
- Asta screaming
- Animation
- Pacing not allowing character development where as MHA is more balanced and lets its character have more space to breathe in (which I think is BS)
And the only genuine criticism I ever hear about the series is coming from the fans that really care about the show and it atina me how similiar the character arcs in black clover is matching the real life situation of MHA and Black Clover and it is hilariously meta.

No joke, I legitimately see those four "criticisms" everywhere. I'd say the one that easily annoys me the most is the Asta screaming part since it's a problem that is easily solved by:
A. Reading the manga
B. Watching the dub
Love this
Yeah yeah "DeKu cRiEs ToO muCh" that's literally the only argument you people bring up.
The first few anime episodes of black clover are not very good but it will get better

@@owl8185 Did you watch it yet? If so, how was it, was it good?
One reason why I think black clover is better is becuase
1. The intros and endings actally are trying to talk about depression and negative thoughts and emotions
2.saved me FROM depression
3.has a perfect story line
It's great to hear that Black Clover helped you out during difficult times in your life. That is the power of art.
*Minor Correction*
I forgot to mention I was specifically referring to the gym uniforms during the sports festival arc, I just felt the need to mention that and clear up what I meant by saying audience.
I love both anime’s equally and the mangas for both are about to go into a big war arc. Black cover needs to get a bigger fan base because the anime right now is on point. And it’s great to watch both anime’s cus they release at different times of the week so it’s nice to have a few story’s to follow.

I think investing in a better mic could help remedy that
Thank you for the compliment.
He does a good job at moving the plot while giving characters development.
love how you talked about the tea girl in MHA, why is she on the streets when could be doing a favor to society ? laughed for for way too long

Salty MHA FANS LMAO
I'm a fan myself BUT I CAN AGREE HERE AND I LOVE BLACK CLOVER MORE.
Well said 🙌
I feel like My Hero Academia and Black Clover are two sides of the same coin. One takes influences from western comic books and the other takes influence from other shonen. They both cater to different tastes, but I don't think its necessarily accurate to call one better than the other. It's like comparing Naruto and Bleach, it's gonna get you nowhere. Both shonen have their advantages and drawbacks.
Zus Frankenstein naw Black Clover just has better writing cut it out
@@ayubsharif7419 I can sit through multiple episodes of mha and like 2 black clover episodes. So yeah its completely subjective.
@@ayubsharif7419 I personally like my hero's writing more but I'm not trying to say that black clovers is worse I just personally like my hero more.
wack writing quality is not subjective.
I can’t disagree
14:28 this is the exact reason why I was WAY More sympathetic towards Asta compared to Deku.
Deku still has a purpose in society and won't be treated like a full on outcast.
Whereas Asta was in a situation where he literally had no purpose and no way to contribute to society. If he had died before getting his grimoire, nothing would change, he wouldn't have made a difference to the world. That's what makes me admire him so much, becuz he was still willing to prove everyone wrong.
I love me some black clover
Both black clover and mha are both in the top ten of shonen jump.
From this the creators of both series already got ton of money from this but one day I can see black clover will catch up or even surpass mha

Awesome, Glad you thought it was worth the time.
With the timpskip we may get it back as a power up
well, it wasn't really forgotten, but it wasn't used that often, because Asta didn't knew how it worked, but had a better idea of it by seeing how licht used it.
*Me, watching with only the left earphone in anyway*

See I’m attached to every Black Bull, and every character from Black Clover because we know more about them. My Hero Academia definitely spread its resources thin, which has left many characters with nothing.

Another wonderful case of foreshadowing in black clover is at the very end of the first episode before Asta get his grimoire the screen flashes and for a few frames Astas half devil form is shown. We wouldn't see this form again for another 60ish episodes during the witches forest arc.

Oh loved the part when yami tells all the boys to be a man and take a peek at the women at the top of the volcano. And mereleona commented that there is still hope.

@Jeffrey Ali
I will say the war arc and Deku's subsequent anti-hero phase had some potential, but I honestly think its story took the wrong path.

-All of them came around after getting Talk no Jutsu'ed by the MC
-All of them were isolated growing up but had one person they truly loved as a child who was taken away from them which caused them to become more callous and to push people away (Gaara's uncle/Fana/Rei Todoroki)
