“Someone you knew in another life,” is the most beautiful line Stephen King has ever written. I liked this adaptation for the most part, but they nailed the ending.
I did cry. This scene is about the greatest hommage to Sam Cooke's "Nothing can change this love" there is. Stephen King understood and I will always associate this song with this scene. Such a lovely scene - it just makes the world seem right.
manofthetardis I think because maybe they think it's just a show all about the assassination and no romance scene..and when I was looking for new shows to watch I watched the trailer which looked super boring and it said in description on Hulu it's about assassination .. It did sound boring but I only began to watch it because all the shows I watched have finished lol
Right, that’s when it really sank in cuz she was so happy and full of joy and that’s who he remembers and that’s who we got to know and then she turns back and it’s like he’s keeping that part of her safe with him even if she won’t remember him
It's the acting and her smile, that and there's two amazing actors both with smiles to die for! So glad I've witnessed this before it got lost... no network in the UK airs this anymore well none that I have anyway so I'm forced to watch it on the firestick but I'm buying it on DVD/Blu-ray if I can get one that's not region locked 😖
This show created such an unexpected bond between me and the characters, I couldn't watch this last episode without dropping any tear from my eyes. I've never felt so close with any TV show character ever before. The ending was surprisingly way harder to take than I thought. Easy 10/10
Yea I never really connected the way I did with these characters I don’t know why I did connect the way I did with them, great show. Makes me sad the way it ends :(
This is the hardest hitting ending I’ve ever seen. What a beautifully happy yet sad and tragic masterpiece. The strength of Jake is unreal to keep it together. There’s not a more selfless character than a time traveler.
King's idea for an ending was that Jake finds a news article about Sadie's life. Joe suggested he visit her and learn the same basic thing (that she's lived a full and good life), and they dance. And the TV show had to fucking go and show us that brief moment of Sadie young again FUCK it's too sad and wonderful. You can read King's original closing chapter here: stephenking.com/other/112263/112263.html
The book was such a bittersweet moment when he visited Sadie as an aged woman. The TV show lifted that scene from the book, and for a change, carried it up and over the top and made it far more emotional than the book, IMO. And I thought that last scene in the book was pretty emotional to begin with.
@@Maizerus I completely agree. This was so well done, completely broke my heart. It plays to so many more senses than in the book with the acting, the music, and young Sadie.

He loved her when she was disfigured, he loved her when she is old. She is always beautiful in his eyes. “Goodbye, Sadie. You never knew me, but I love you, honey.” “Someone you knew in another life, honey.” -from the book
Sometimes, to keep the one you truly love safe, you need to walk away.. and they might never know what you did to protect them.. just so long as they're safe.

In a way if he even saw there was a chance that she didn’t live a happy life…you can say he would probably have travelled back in time and be with her. Without analyzing you think it’s tragic but really looking deep he was there to make sure she was happy. Very much a selfless act.
This is probably lowkey King's most technically impressive full-length novel. It's not my personal favorite but it's amazingly well-written and researched. Also, it proves he CAN write an ending.
This ending was apparently because of his son. His original ending had Jake googling Sadie and finding out all of her achievements in life. The last line was something like “even smallpox scars look beautiful in the eyes of someone who loves you” and the book ended. Stephen’s son said that he should go see her and they have a last dance, which Stephen decided to write in. And honestly, I’m glad he did. This ending isn’t just good by Stephen King standards, but a great ending in general.

What's even more heartbreaking is when you've found the right person & a tradegy (& being young...19) in your life messes with your common sense & you leave them forever. Afraid to ask them to move away with u, never forgetting them, going on with life, then living with regret knowing they never forgot you... still loved you over 40 yrs later & now 53 yrs later, you're both too old to do a thing about it. And can't tell him NOW that I'm back in the area we grew up. I had one tear almost come out and my heart ached when she asked "who are you" and he said "somebody you knew in another life" bring back this Love. Where you could dance with your partner like this..
This show is absolutely amazing loved every episode, such a shame not a lot of people know about it
Only read the book but this has me excited to watch the series
Haven't seen the show but I just finished the book and this scene is one of the best endings I've ever read
Just now watching and finishing this show.. Such a touching show with so much foreshadow and romance like this it just brings tears to the face... Me and my wife will always love this show... Thank you Franco
This is one of the most beautiful endings ever.
Just finished reading 11/22/63 and haven't even watched the series but ended up here. I can feel Jake's pain. It's so heartbreaking to watch this.
My throat was clogged up when I read this scene in the book... And shed a few tears.
It hurts so much
@@bennnnu380 respect 😂
Same
Such a beautiful movie and book. With all it’s subtle easter eggs of the Dark Tower, The Stand and IT. Then manages to make me cry to a happy ending.
Beautiful series. The love that Jake and sadie shared was like no other. I cried in the end hoping that he would stay with her in the past 💔
When he spun sadie and he saw her younger self, i bawled my eyes out. It hurt so much.
I wanted them to be together.
Didn’t we all ;C
'The past fecks witch ya'
But this ending is so much better. But i hear what you're saying. But it would have been a cheap ending if he got her back.
Duh!
same 😭
We cry when we see people get separated. We know to be together is so beautiful. Yet! We bow down to our ego and distance ourselves from one another
As soon as they started dancing I cried immediately.... it’s sad. “Someone you knew in another life..” that’s like the most romantic thing he could’ve.
Never got around to watching the series but I read the book and cried at the end
The book was so full of emotions 😭
Thank you for today 11 22 63 Scene, will be back for crying again from this scene someday
1:43 This is when I completely lost it tbh.. Such an amazing show!
