Nice video. I love Black Elk Peak (Harney Peak), and all of the hiking around the Hills. Being from the flat eastern side of SD, it's always refreshing to get out west and enjoy the hills and trees. BTW, the lookout tower you were in was built as a CCC project in I believe the 1940's, for fire overwatch. There is another one on the top of Mt Coolidge to the south. Although you can just drive up to that one, LOL. Glad to see you are still enjoying SD! Happy hiking!
My youngest son and I thru-hiked the Centennial Trail last month. It was super dry then! Thanks for the video; I was looking to go back and hike more of South Dakota. That route looks like a winner!
Awesome video. I got the route from Backpacking with Jason. I was going to taymy daughter over Labor Day. Got COVID….again…Bummed. But oh well. Crazy winter hike maybe? Great trail to introduce people to multiple day trips. Clean the grease off your leg BTW.
