Terrible sense of scale as in 1 to 1 with real life, sure. That's what it's like in nature without special art direction or graphics emphasizing depth of field and perspective, aka a simulation game.
I’m just learning this game, still having trouble landing without causing more damage than it worth. But it’s a pretty interesting application that’s nicely designed and most importantly well maintained with very detailed updates. This game/simulator is what most of us were waiting for when VR became a viable technology. I can’t wait to be experienced enough to explore without issues.
Well you will most likely spend most of your time in single player if you want to progress without the possibility of being attacked by other players. The game's community is not truly toxic but there is a lot of kind players that are willing to help or explore with you given if you join their discord. Also Im pretty surprised anyone still play No Man's Sky given that it betrayed countless of people's expectation of the game

They could have been High Energy Weapons Impact Crater from ancient times.. That's add more mistery I agree.... Hope Frontier think something like that and can be inspired with it.

Maybe Frontier aint lazy at all. Maybe we are lazy, waiting discoveries served on plate. We maybe explored 1% of their wonders and misteries, but due to galaxy size it is imposible to find it.
Exactly. Elite isn't a game like CoD which spoonfeeds you thrill and rewards. Sitting around and criticising the devs is an easy thing to do; what about getting out into deep space and searching for yourself?
I wish fdev would add actual asteroids and gravity physics so bigger planets might capture more than small ones and get dynamically affected by impacts
unfortunately these rather extreme high wall craters were considered a terrain generation bug :( They are no longer in the game... which is a shame because they are awesome looking

update! I have good news and bad news. make that just bad news. I believe I've found the planet and the correct system name is SYNUEFE ST-K C32-3 1. it is a small potato shaped metal-rich planet but it is a dark red brick like color and not a bright tan color like in your video. I can only view one side because the night side is so very dark you can't see any features at all. I don't see any deep looking creators on the day side. I'm playing on the PS4 so perhaps that has something to do with what I'm seeing. I would like a player using a PC or an XBOX to check it out and report what they find. Thanks for checking it out, i might do a video later today and go visit it see if the surface features are the same (I know the deep crater wont be there, and the colour has changed since 3.0 changed the surface textures) Still it'd be cool to see and do a revisit. :) The issue here is that the planet is from the 2.0 beta, back then there were a few weird terrain bugs, very small planets would actually fail to render for example. When I am out exploring I always look out for the weird and wonderful. Unfortunately this wonderful has sadly been removed. Personally im looking forward to the 4th Quarter exploration update :D
I think there are a few different types of impact craters in elite, and for some planets back in the Horizons beta the terrain generator would go a bit nuts and pin the ridge hight and basin depth at some silly values. This kinda thing wouldnt be on all planets, but were also not super rare either. Its a shame because they were quite fun to visit

The system (from the video) is Synuefe ST-K C23-3 Planet 1 54/-39 Now those coordinates might be flipped, there was some coordinate flip that occurred and i cant remember if it was just a beta or in general.

I feel like i need to go back to this planet and take a look. I know that these extreme craters have been removed, they were some kind of glitch in the height map that occurred rarely during early beta and early 2.0 live. There are still some extremes out there, but not quite like that. I should go back to the same planet and coordinate and do a Hole in the World part 2

Hmm, I payed full AAA price so the game is judged accordingly. You say content, I a lack of.. I'm a tactical strategist who prefers challenge, depth, dynamics. Total war is my kind of game really. But I do love the Sci-fi space opened sand boxed games which this isn't, sure it has some great features, but it lacks any real depth, depth is where the game uses the player's brain and not the player's time. The game needs Base Building, Player Market, Powerplay modifcations, attacking bases, taking bases over attacking with your factions. blockades and raids on stations and outposts, wanted factions operating out of asteroid bases & abandoned CQC architecture. Exploration caravans asking allies for escorts. Tier 2 NPCs recognising you and your past deeds ect ect.. Much should have been added. People really want Increased in-game communication options for guilds and PowerPlay. Bulletin Board as above, including barter and favour aspects, for co-op on the fly. Beacons for consensual naughtiness and play. Station construction! As a result - it's not for everybody, yes. Many find ED to be a great space simulator, but a mediocre game. While others find the majority of the core gameplay loop is neither fun, nor compelling in any way beyond the initial dive into the game. Star Citizen will be an actual game, a game that will sink ED if no real change comes forward in the near future. ED is a good, It's a nice space simulator at best in my view.
