Some nice fish there. I’ve tried float fishing sprats on circle hooks many times and never had a take. Are you hooking through the dorsal fin or through the nose? TA fishing loves the technique on slow flowing rivers but again there isn’t many pike river opportunities in Scotland. Another great educational outing….thanks for taking us along.👍👍
Hi bobby hope your well mate ive heard the rivers dont produce many pike i wonder why? Everytime ive come to scotland the rivers look really pikey 🤔 have you tried the canal,s at all? Maybe the caledonian canal im sure the bobber would work there.! I hook the sprat through the back so it sits horizontal maybe next time im up i,ll give it a try on the canal 👍 thank,s for watching and commenting mate 🤝😊
Hi Sean, I do fish the Caledonian canal. But as it’s 15’ deep with sloping sides there’s a lot of water to cover. I caught a lovely pike in the canal at the end of September. I had it follow lures on many occasions but could never catch it. I had been targetting the bugger for 3 years. We have a motorhome and went up last autumn. I fished with every lure in my box for about 8 days straight and not a single twitch. I previously caught it on dead bait but got snagged in the weed and lost it. Last time I went to Lidl and got frozen sardines,I was fishing for less than 1/2 an hour and it took the sardine. It gives you a great sense of achievement when you do eventually catch them. It was only about 12lb but it was great to get it. I also fish the lochs on the canal there are some big pike there and some lovely tranquil spots. Listening to a piper playing in the great glen echoing down the loch or watching the RAF low fly the bomber is a sight to see. Some days you can hardly get sat down for pulling them in and days on end getting nothing. I guess that’s why they call it fishing and not catching.👍👍
@@Bo88y22 mate that sounds epic i really love scotland and im sure one day me n catherine will live there its a beautiful country steeped in history its an amazing place im not surprized at all that a scotsman is proud of his country 🤝🙂 it sounds like you have the best backdrop for fishing im sure one day well fish together on the caledonian 👍🙂
@@luredbyesoxHi, Thanks, if you hook the sprat through its back to keep horizontal, how do you use the bait elastic? After the float dibs, do you leave a few seconds before contacting the fish? sorry for basic questions.
@@peterc5167 its fine peter honestly i hook the sprat through the back to sit horizontal with one of the treble hooks a put some bait elastic round the other two when the float dips i give it a second or two then wind down n hit it its not a basic question at all mate you want to fish it right 👍 good luck mate let us know how you get on thanks again for asking 🤝🙂

Nice to see some good, on-bank fish handling skills. No criticism intended but might I suggest you try single circle hooks for this style of fishing with smaller baits - I find they are so much easier to remove from a pike - and especially from a perch - than even a small treble hook!
Thankyou anthony its always something at the top of my list, fishcare it,s important to release them in the same condition you caught them in 👍 i normally fish semi barbless hooks the only barb left is to hold the bait maybe single hook,s is something i,ll look into in the future 👍🙂 thanks again anthony for watching and commenting 🤝🙂
Bloody circle hook users are like Vegans, constantly trying to convert. I can't see what the issue is with unhooking trebles 😵💫 It's like people who can't figure gears out so drive an auto. When you get used to removing lures that have stitched a fishes mouth shut with all 3 points of a 4/0 treble, a couple of tiny size 6's are childsplay.
