There was actually going to be an animated adaptation of this comic starring Steven Yuen as Chu for AMC. Regrettably it was cancelled due to the death of Robin Williams, who was going to voice an important character, and the executives weren't sure if the show would be a hit without his star power behind it.
John layman the creator of CHEW said on his twitter that a live action CHEW adaptation is in the works and we could be hearing news about it sooner then later
And then fall into a ditch and stumble after like the second season at best. I love iZombie but man it’s a different show after that second season. And that one lacks the magic of the first.
Somehow the romance in this series is really wholesome and it’s such a nice break from the crack level shit that’s always happening. I hope the series gets more attention!

I also actually genuinely did need this, feels good that I can get sucked out of my own life with a simple "Ah look, I am now very invested in the terrifying and amazing idea of a detective that solves crimes this way and the baddie that can make people vomit with explicit wordings! I'm in!"

@mildlymarvelous *Spoiler* The more he eats, the clearer and deeper the memories he gets and retains. It also gets a really cool use later where eating people allows you to retain their core skills in life. Sadly the main character doesn't use this much, only once when he's forced to, so it's something the villains mostly enjoy
I like this art style. Reminds me a little of Johan Vasquez (invader zim, Johnny the homocidal maniac) 2000’s alternative produced some great/horrifying aesthetics!

This comic had a lot of potential, starts out super cool and original, but man it gets *STUPID*. Some of the powers and gags defintely overstay their welcome, some aren't utilized enough, and the gritty tone just eventually goes away. I think it'd have worked as an animated series, too bad that got canned.
