Hi mate, I know this is an old post. I'm having dramas with my VE 2011 v6, I had the P0174 code, now taking off its fine and rips through the gears, however if you need to take off while at speed so the transmission needs to kick down it sort of bangs and stutters and makes me think its the trans. Could the o2 sensor being bad cause this? When you said the fueling could be bad and thats whats making people think its transmission it got me thinking maybe that's my issue too. ( I know its hard over the net etc, thank you for an advice in advance )
G'day mate, I've watched a few of your videos on the 6l50. I have a 2013 RG colorado 4wd with the 6l50, it doesn't have a drain plug on the bottom of the pan or a filler plug like you remove on the side. Any ideas on how to remove the oil then fill?
hi, interesting ! how many bolt holes on pan ? can you send me pics of pan and left and right side of trans via our facebook link in description. cheers
Excellent video... but get temperature from engineering mode on dashboard readout, not the surface temp of the sump pan (@4:40). On warm up the oil within will a lot hotter than what is being shown on the outside of the sump.
hi, i have compared in temps in past, and find little or no discernible difference. the engineering mode is "transmission sump temperature" and is where the temp sensor is located. choice is yours as always to check how you like. although thanks for your input , these questions help everyone....cheers
mine does a similar thing at full throttle, although it doesn't do it all the time. Whats the torque when bolting the trans sump back on? Watching my rev gadge though, doesn't seem like the engine reving, just sometimes when I put my foot down she takes too long to build up speed
hi, we have compared many times to scan tool readings - results are negligible. just make sure you get a few different position readings for average - front & rear pan as well as the bell housing. cheers
G'day YepThatslt I have a 2012 sv6 sportswagon and I'm not sure if it has the 6L50 or 6L45 any help would be appreciated. I did do some research and I think it is the 6L45 but I just want to be sure. thanks...
hi, sorry we mainly only have 6L50 in Australia. however this may help if you google 6L45 vs 6L50 or see goo ol` en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_6L50_transmission . cheers
Look at the build plate in the engine bay. Right down the bottom (in the middle) it'll tell you your transmission type. If it says MYB it's the 6L50. If it has another code, google "xxx transmission code VE" (where xxx is your code) and it'll give you your transmission. I have a MY10 and it was one of the first with the 6L50. I'm guessing you have the same.
Does a tool exist to remove the filter seal? or just push in one side and carefully pull it out. I think I prefer that trans fluid level check to my bf. Fuel filter maybe, inside the tank I think and a horrible job to do by memory.
Hi, find a steel washer that slides tightly in through the seal. It will have a hole or thread in it so you can use a slide hammer to tap it out. Once you push the washer through the seal, cock it to one side so it catches the inner top edge of the seal so you can slowly tap it out. Try make sure you tap slowly and as evenly as you can around the seal ( not too much on one side ) or it will grab on bore too much as they are fairly tight fit. Sometimes you may need to make the outer edge of the seal a little "sharper"so it can grab the edge better. I will make a video sometime down the track....Hope that makes sense Cheers
hi, for more of our associated vid on this transmission see our playlist th-cam.com/play/PLQLkuOdKuFotzfpdV15zq07e32CUjYhbS.html cheers

Do you know what the torque specs are for the bolts?

hi, see my latest 6l50 vid th-cam.com/video/iBAHr6GbSmg/w-d-xo.html cheers
Is checking it with the laser Temp gun accurate enough

Do you like the Foxwell scan tool ?. I'm thinking of buying one from the u.k.
hi,yeah is good, however you might need a few different types of scanners to cover most. we use a few cheers
is this the way way to service a 6L80e HSV GTS 2006 transmission?
hi, very similar/same procedure. chhers
