    I'm not a competitor, own both of these and a Shadow2. My indoor range toys. The Sig, for the money, strikes the right balance of fun range gun, target pistol, home defense and a great gun for teaching new shooters. Lucky me, I bought it when it was well under a grand and it would be the last to go if I thinned the collection.

    Thanks for the candid comment, I’ve been running the same x5 as you from the get go. Hard to make a move to a different gun, it’s just that good.

    Solid advice!
    My journey was similar: started in limited and had a bunch of different guns, moved to CO and started with fully loaded Tanfo’s by a very well known gunsmith, eventually moved from Tanfo to sig p320 x5 legion. I like the legion as it was hard for me to work the double action trigger since I grew up on single action. The sig I have is fully worked and custom milled for an specific optic. Great gun, I have 3 of them, and I won’t sell them. Plus I can put thousands of rounds through it and don’t have to clean it.

    You know how much I love my sigs. I would like to try a cz just to see how it feels. I went to my first lesson with frank and shot a glock 17 too. He said I was terrible...lol...handed me an x5 with a dot and have never gone back. And for your friends question....I now have 210,000 rounds on my three sigs and not a single break or failure.

    Interesting question.. your answers made me think of a question, but first, I must give some context (by writing a novel). I have mentioned that my mission is PRS, but I do what to give 2 and 3 gun competitions a few tries. I am not worried about coming in first place, as that would likely never happen as my newly found passion is in the direction of PRS. With that said, I have spent the majority of my life while playing with my hobby's, what ever they have been, and there has been allot of them, always trying to make something do more then it was ever designed to do. For some strange and odd reason, I get my kicks that way. Back some 20 years on back, I used to drag race, and sure, I played with the V-8's and even a few super chargers, a old school Roots blower, sure, that was fun, but where I thrived was taking 1983 to 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo coupes with the 4 cyl 2.3 ltr turbo charged engines and spending a few weeks in the machine shop after hours hogging away anything that wasn't needed, or stream lining the flow rates, to machining my own heads, (only to find out later, I could have just purchased them, DUH!!!).. Hacking the unified chassis to ditch the solid rear axle, so I could install independent rear suspension on. Always making things harder on myself, but still ultimately, making something do a job, it was never designed to do.
    With that novel stated.. The pistol I intend on running in my couple 2/3 gun competitions, is a BERSA PRO X 9mm. It is another example of me trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear scenario. This unit is BERSA's highest line, but no where near the lowest line of what you as the professionals run, but I am still gonna do it, and I am gonna love it. I fully understand, the ideals of you can have fun with any toy, but if you want to win, it really does help to have the best toys or something from the best toy series.
    Finally, the question at hand, ((((Have you tried to play with any odd ball pistols at your competitions)))) , or is that too high stakes and would be money wasted. I know this BERSA will not help me much, even though, I know I need all the help I can get, but, I can't seem to break away from my nature to do oddball toys.. By my 8th to 10th V-8, I was bored, LOL.. Although I loved the body design of the 83 to 88, pumping 700 H out of a 4 cyl engine was kinda a dare and as a joke, then I got hooked on big HP out of small packages. Something tells me, gun competitions are not like drag racing.. LOL... I don't know, but, I will soon find out.
    That was a fun question that one of your other viewers asked, and based on how you answered that. Which is best, when you have several "BEST's" on your desk. well, either way, Me and my Ol-Cheap-O BERSA PRO X 9 are gonna have fun giving the field all she got, (last place) but still, all she got.

      Very cool story and I totally get it, the quest if you will. To answer your question, I only jump around to see if I want to upgrade comp guns BUT a Lot of people shoot matches for fun and bring all kinds of stuff to shoot, some match directors are even allowing 22's but you can't score sometimes, just for fun! Really that is what we are all in it for~

    Thank you for your thoughts on the X5 and CZC. I believe your answers are spot on for me and agree with your ranking the two. I have not put near the number of rounds though the CZC that I have the X5 at this point. Just based on parts, cost, and the "easy, easy, easy,,, " of the X5 is very attractive. I need to take a look at your load data. Currently, I am running a 135gr TC Blue Bullets with PF Average of 130.

    • @PopsQuest
      @PopsQuest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I run at 130pf on all my different loads, I like 125tc, 115rn, both Blue bullets. I run the 12lb spring. I tell people just shoot the Legal load that makes the dot act like you want it to with your grip

      @@PopsQuest I have run minor in all my USPSA shooting as well. Are there rules on bullet weight? Am I ok using the 135gr? I heard somewhere that 124gr is native to 9mm - not sure that's true or not. If so, you're on the money with 125gr. I use the 12lbs spring as well with no problems.

    Great advice but and it’s a but. I’ll stick with cz for totally different reasons unfortunately. In South Africa a gun license takes about a year. Every part, barrel and frame are registered. Hence to make a boo boo on frame you can’t pop down to your local gun shop and pick up a new frame. A new application needs to be done. Parts are the next hiccup as sig really don’t have a great support structure in aftermarket parts as cz you can change internals as much as you want without the licence rubbish. Americans have (not all) no idea how important that 2nd amendment is. As soon as registration and licensing get pushed it kills a fantastic sport unfortunately. We certainly not the guys robbing and doing nefarious stuff. Great channel and please keep up the great work you do on so many levels. (Shooting, being positive, helping other, weight and diet and I probably left out a few)

    Good feedback and insight there, Pops. Interested in your plans you had mentioned previously in setting up one of your Legion pistols to play in Open or for Open 3Gun. Planning to focus and stick with Carry Optics only for the foreseeable future? For me personally, the only other division I can see myself shooting anymore besides Carry Optics would be going back to Open. 😁 #dotlife #thisistheway

    • @PopsQuest
      @PopsQuest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might shoot that configuration for 2-gun Nationals, the major ammo that I was testing then won't help me with the type of scoring they have planned but the comp may allow for faster follow up shots. I have my Chaos for sale now, I may not ever go back to open! Never say never LOL

  • @thebrassbrigade5963
    @thebrassbrigade5963 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pops I know you’re not a big IDPA shooter but! What do you think about them not letting an atlas Athena in Carry optics but they will let the X5 legion in? I mean allegiant has a 5 inch bull barrel based on what Sig said in an advertisement I saw a while back. Atlas is only 4.6 inches long! They say you can’t have a bull barrel over 4 1/4 inches but they let the Legion in and not the atlas why?

    • @PopsQuest
      @PopsQuest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could give my opinion, but I don't have any idea how idpa makes their rules. I knbow uspsa makes rule changes all the time. Single action triggers being allowed in CO was discussed at this last meeting and they did not make the rule change. I need to go to an idpa match just to check it out on an off weekend and take my carry gun
