  • This HDMI switch WORKS with PS5 & XBOX SERIES X / S. Here is my detailed review of the llano HDMI 2.1 Switch. It supports 120Hz, variable refresh rate, bidirectional switching, and more at up to 48 Gbps.
    Included in this review are side-by-side video comparisons with an without the llano switch, live bi-directional switching and resolution changes, color and audio analysis , and my assessment of build quality. I have completed tests using PC monitors and a QLED television using NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD Freesync at up to 144Hz as well as performance tests with consoles. After watching this review you will know if this HDMI 2.1 switch from llano is right for you.
    Thanks for checking out my review!

    To get the most out of your recording or streaming space, I recommend sound treatment including acoustic absorption panels. This is the single biggest way to improve your audio before investing in other gear. You can make your own, or I highly recommend GIK Acoustics as they manufacture some of the best quality panels available at an excellent value.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue you are having is your soundbar supports all HDMI 2.1 features except CRR and ALLM (not available on an Sony soundbars that I am aware of) and LG dropped support for dts around 2020. Whenever I have a situation needing a different spec on two devices connected with HDMI I use a splitter or that supports all of the standards I require and also provides auto EDID management (splitters need to do this, otherwise HDCP would also break).
      In your case you will need an HDMI 2.1 splitter (supporting VRR and dts). The best quality and value I have used that covers this off is the OREI BK-22. It is a combination switch and splitter, so you will have two inputs (one for the PS5 and one for the XBOX) and two outputs (one for your TV and the other for your soundbar. Your consoles will see support for all features (VRR, Dolby, dts, etc) and you will be able to use VRR and ALLM on your LG and listen to dts (and any other format supported by both the soundbar and console) on your soundbar, plus you won't have to swap cables around. Unfortunately, the BK-22 has been on back-order for a while, but is expected back in stock soon (late summer). I have asked OREI to provide an update when they are back in stock so I can post it to my community tab. Hope this helps out! I also did a review on the BK-22 if you want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/AmSDSfJftEo/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the video! I finally bought a Samsung monitor to get 4k/120Hz with my PS5 but still would like to play casual, single-player games on my older (2018) Samsung QLED tv that does not support 120Hz and is not HDMI 2.1. I just want to be sure that this will separate the displays completely and the tv will not affect the output of the monitor. Thank you!

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to help out! Yes, the switch completely separates the displays (the source will only see the EDID of the display you are using) so one monitor's capabilities will not effect what can be displayed on the other. Great question - Thanks!

      Do you have a fix for this before I return it

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tested it working with the Series X using VRR on my Samsung Q80T. It depends on the display you are using, but there are generally options on your display to enable "enhanced format VRR." While it doesn't happen on my Q80T, I have heard that on some televisions (a couple of LG and Sony models) when either VRR or Dolby Vision are not enabled, there can be issues when switching back and forth between the PS5 and XBOX. The setting is usually found in you input settings menu. You may need to connect the Series X directly to the display first, change the settings, and then reconnect through the switch. Hope this helps out.

    How does this work with a sound bar?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not a splitter, it will only send signal to one output. To use an HDMI 2.1 display with a soundbar where eARC is not an option requires and HDMI splitter / audio extractor. I will have a review up shortly for this model: www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLTDG8B2?ref=myi_title_dp

    Did you notice any input lag?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No perceivable lag testing with 120fps video. The switch doesn’t scale or re-encode the input signal, so once the display and source sync up EDID, the signal behaves as a direct connection.
