I did this comparison in 2023 but have only been able to release it in 6/2024. The two 140th anniversary models might not be in stock any more.
Hope you enjoy the comparison.
It´s my first comparison video here on YT and I have many ideas on how to improve these shootout videos. I just needed to get this one out even though it´s not perfect :-)
Feel free to leave (constructive) comments on how to improve my shootout videos. Which "electromatic" sounds best to you?

I just love the 5655. It has such a full sound without dulling the high strings. It rings like a bell.😊

awesome work. Thank you so much !!!!
nice video. one suggestion: it would be great to add the time codes of the different sections in the video description. TH-cam will break automatically break it into chapters then and you get links to jump to each section for easier comparison.
I totally agree. I just didn´t get it done in time. I definitely want to do it next time.
The text on the screen can give you a hint of what´s being played though ;-)
Thanks for the feedback!
It kind of sounds like the pickups are adjusted too far away from the strings on the 5420. Just need raised a smidge.
TBH I am not 100% sure but I am very positive to have checked the PU height. I was also thinking about replacing the PUs and measured the specs. But these PUs have a new clipping system and it´s not so easy to get to them (unlike a Strat or LP which have easier wiring in terms of accessibility).
I think I remember the 5420 to have a lower output than the other guitars. That might explain what you are hearing. I didnt process any of the signals with compression.
Hope that helps
The two anniversary models, by a country mile.
They just have the magical Gretsch treble, don´t they?
psychclones sound incredible
The 5420T and 2420T are great guitars, great quality and value for money. The whole range is good.
I almost kept the 5420 because it sounded good, looked amazing, played good and could be upgraded later.
I am not sure why I didnßt keep it......
The orange one is mine. The tones were too close I guess.
Sometimes you make decisions with your brain....... which ist not a bad thing. Otherwise I would have 150 guitars instead of "just" 15 ;-)
