Konrad's tragic story is also what made him such an interesting and, in his own twisted way, human character.. Like imagine being born into the absolute clusterfuck that is the 40k universe, being in perpetual agony and suffering from insane seizures while being constantly reminded that the future is only going to get worse and on top of all that your own father orders your execution.. deciding to off yourself out of there would be the go-to answer for 99% of us

    • @darksider2903
      @darksider2903 ปีที่แล้ว +42

Konrad's story wasn't that tragic. He didn't have nails inside his head that forced him to kill everything that moves. Konrad had a choice. Sanguinius, emperor and many other primarchs tried to show him better way but he didn't want to change.

@@darksider2903 Very true, he did have a choice to admit that there was a better way to run things, but chose to ignore the call to the light and blame everything on his father since if he was created like this, that means its what the Emperor wanted him to be. He was the one out of all the Primarchs to be like "Do you realize what we are? What we were made for?" which makes him really interesting to me

Konrad had the choice to fight against fate but lacked the Will to accept that it was his own actions and decisions that was responsible for the atrocities he committed

The best part about Argel Tal's death is, iirc, his death was so bullshit that even the demon he fused with hated Erebus for killing him. It tried to warn Argel that Erebus was about to stab him, though was too late, and then turned around and basically told Erebus "you sniveling coward, I liked him, and you fucked it up." Like how hated do you have to be for a demon you just realesed telling you to pound sand for doing so.

i mean despite 99% percent of demon possessions being absolutely horrific, argel tal and the demon must have had a pretty solid relationship for the demon to be this pissed about it, considering most demons see human souls as basically food.

during the birth of slaanesh most eldar gods were consumed by slaanesh, with only cerogorach escaping, khaine fighting slaanesh to a standstill and being shattered once khorne (god of war) got involed and isha being picked up by nurgle, it went like this:
isha was panicking in the corner as slaanehs battled khaine, and nurgle came around as slaanesh was busy and offered his "protection" which really would be basically slavery for isha. she accepted, the alternative being consumed by slaanesh, and in the current setting is still under nurgle's control, and is used to test nurgle's diseases.
it is also spoken here and there that isha may also be staying under nurgle even if she probably could be able to escape as she can attempt to give healing to mortals even as nurgle infects them

Argel Tal was never fated to die by Sanguinius. He was fated to die "under the shadow of great wings" which everyone, both in-universe and audience wrongly assumed it meant Sanguinius(as we're intended too) when in fact it meant the wings of the Imperial Aquila as Eribus points out. And then, there was this avatar from Biel-tan that got left behind by the Biel-tan's forces on an exodite planet invaded by Tyranids.
It stayed there, continuously fighting for about six days (because the Biel-tan-Iyanden-Harlequin-Black Heart Kabal allied force spent two days to form the alliance and four days to travel back to the planet through the webway), and survived albeit not without wounds.
Imagine. Six days. Alone. On a planet invested with Tyranids.

So technically he did die how he was supposed to

I actually kind of like Konrad's death. It was a showcase of his greatest fault brought out from what his original role was. He was supposed to be the Emperor's Justice after all and justice must always be right/correct. As he descended into the arrogant violent creature we know from the lore he probably became more and more in touch with his original nature as well. As such he also convinced himself "I must always be correct". In way as Majorkill himself said in the video he was too afraid of being wrong and not just because it would make him look pathetic, which it would, but also because his very nature demands certainty.

Like those boxing things you see where a guy is able to so easily avoid/block jabs, but then the guy jabbing just extends his arm kinda slowly but doesn't telegraph it at all.

Kharn killing Jenetia Krole by accident like she was a cloaked spy in TF2 is actually a good thing because it actually saves face for both characters.
Put yourself in the shoes of the writers: Kharn and Krole cross paths, you need Kharn to live, but can't contrive a way for him to roll three natural twenties in a row to beat a named custodes level threat. By all rights, even Kharn should get bodied in such a matchup.
    What do you do?
Have Kharn critically miss instead: you can't say Kharn outplayed Jenetia because he barely knew she was there and wasn't trying to hit her.

They did not manage to kill him with that but just thought to mention that it would not be unrealistic. :P

I remember Jenitias death differently, from memory Kharn & a bunch of WEs were running to another engagement and she stood in his way & he body checked her to death.
I remember Wondering why she didn't just walk away as shes barely perceptible. It was like she wanted to die (like the writer couldn't think of anything to do with her so she left her meeting with Dorn & Malcador, said goodbye to her sisters and left to die).

100% agree about the avatars of Khaine. They are meant to be the eldar’s top-tier unit that only gets involved when shit has gone super pear shaped and represents the strength of tens of millions of years of Eldar civilisation. To have Calgar kill one with one punch is just down right insulting as an Eldar fan. Especially since the avatar would have been several metres taller than Calgar. Screw GW for their apparent disdain for Eldar players/fans.

Erebus absolutely should've died against Kharn. As his purpose in the narrative was pretty much completed. And killing Argel Tal should've been the time where all of his treachery comes back to bite him in the ass. It would've been the perfect, cathartic death and a high note to send Erebus off. By having him get picked apart by the friend of a man he backstabbed.

As much as I (and others no doubt) don't like it when a really cool or popular character dies in a lame or unheroic way, I think that it really helps to sell the setting. Like you have these mighty heroes or great warriors, but this is war. War doesn't care if you're a seven hundred year old Terminator of the First Company or some new Guardsman on his first deployment. You die all the same. Sometimes that death is heroic and valiant, other times you step on a mine or get sniped by some idiot several kilometres away. As much as we want our favourite Termie Marine or lovable Guardsman to die a noble death, that doesn't always happen

I dont completely agree with Kurze, or at least the justification behind it. Adeptus Ridiculous actually put it very well. Konrad had foresight but also an extreme sense of justice. He believed his visions were 100% fated to happen, which he used to justify his actions. If he gave in to the idea that his visions were NOT fate, then hes admitting that all the horrible things he did were because he wanted to. When he saw his own death, he HAD to know it was fate, otherwise he was proving everyone else right. That he was truly a monster. Him allowing himself to be killed was vindication. He "proved" he wasnt a monster because he wanted to be, it was because he was fated to be. Dying but proving his point was better than living and being wrong
