    Very informative. Lamar does seem to have some of the best built trailers that I've seen.

    Very well done. I appreciate all the technical data that you included, like the diameter of the hydraulic lift. As a homeowner, I just bought a Down2Earth dump trailer very similar to your Lamar. From your video I picked several add ones for my trailer. Two additions not mentioned by you that I have done to mine is the wireless dump control and a spray on Raptor bed liner. While the wireless control was an inexpensive add on and very easy to do mod, the Raptor spray on bed liner was a little more complicated and about $300.00. When I was shopping for a trailer, I considered used, but almost every used unit had a bed “infected” with rust. I felt the Raptor liner was an easy rust preventer and would pay dividends at resale time. Again, thanks for the detailed review.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No problem! The wireless remote is a great idea. I completely agree that used dumps typically have rust that is beyond control. The amount of time and money required to repair the rust just isn’t worth it. This is the main reason I bought a new dump. The Raptor bed liner is an interesting idea. I contemplated getting a sprayed on bed liner for mine but I wasn’t sure how well material would slide out when dumping. Thank you for watching! Please like and subscribe!

    Just purchased the 7000 lb single axle with 235/80 R16 10 ply tires. Most of the points you hit on are what I saw as great features as well and also why I chose Lamar over anything else available. Thank You.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am glad the review helped. You will love your new trailer. Everyone always assumes that buying a bigger trailer is better. The reality is that you need to look at how much your vehicle is capable of towing safely. So what if you make an extra trip because the weight capacity is lower? If you aren’t hauling everyday, why overbuy?

    • @footballstud48
      @footballstud48 ปีที่แล้ว

      How are you liking the single axle? I’m deciding between tandem and single. Any insight would be appreciated.

    • @MarkRatermann
      @MarkRatermann ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Best way to go I think. I put a wheel on the front jack and can easily spin the unattached trailer around in my driveway. I load up with 2.5 yards or crushed rock and the tires inflated to 80 psi, they are barely warm. The 7000 lb axle is so solid. The single axle actually has a higher payload than the dual 3500 lb axle because of the overall weight difference of the trailer.

    Thanks for the video. Do you think you could load brush with your BX while the trailer is not connected, then hitch the BX to tow and dump?
    I know dirt or gravel would get too heavy fast.
    Thanks for your opinion.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I doubt I would attempt hauling a dump trailer full of brush with the BX. While I do move the dump trailer with my BX, I would be concerned about hauling a load and potentially overloading it. The other issue would be controlling it with the added weight. Keep in mind that the empty trailer weighs just over 2,000 lbs.

    It's not overbuilt. Its really well built.
    I own one.

  • @wildbill23c
    @wildbill23c 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wish I could find something that size in my area. I don't need to haul very heavy loads at a time, but a dump trailer is pretty much a must when you own a tractor with a loader...shoveling dirt, gravel, sand, etc. out of my utility trailer by hand is a huge time waster....however, these trailers are so ridiculously priced its far out of many people's budgets.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree that a dump trailer is a must if you own a tractor with a loader. That’s one of the main reasons I bought mine. Not only is shoveling dirt out of a utility trailer a waste of time, it’s hard work.
      These trailers do cost more than a typical utility trailer. But, they hold their value better than a utility trailer. In fact, with the rising costs of raw materials coupled with rising labor costs, you could sell a used dump trailer for the price you paid when you bought it and the buyer still thinks they are getting a deal when compared to new. Personally, I think dump trailers hold their value better than any other trailer on the market.

    Just picked up this trailer and noticed a good amount of play in the coupler. The bolts are tight but the coupler still has up and down play in the bracket. Is yours the same? Hard to tell in the video but almost looks like yours has play as well.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, mine is the same way. This has not caused an issue. My guess is that with any adjustable coupler you will have this. The play is due to the diameter of the bolt versus the diameter of the hole.

    • @elementman1223
      @elementman1223 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Etrailer lists a “Demco EZ Latch Hardware Kit” that includes 4 separate bolts instead of 2. Claims “rattle free installation”.

    Why are the bolts already rusted? Also chipped paint and rust in the D rings pretty much everywhere

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep in mind that these trailers are made in Texas and I am from Pennsylvania. Many of these units sit on dealer lots prior to sale. In general, some surface rust is pretty common. Once you start using the trailer, scratches will happen and unfortunately the removal of paint from the scratch makes that surface prone to rusting. In this case, a D ring is very difficult to keep from rusting because that is where you tie off. It is subjected to abrasion.
      I realIze on the surface you may think the few spots of rust are really bad, but unless you pay for an automotive style paint job you simply cannot avoid that when you live the the rust belt.

  • @HealthSupercharger
    @HealthSupercharger ปีที่แล้ว

    I would buy their 7000lb single axel because of less tires to maintain and buy, less bearings to lubricate, and less toll cost for single axels, and also if you are a home owner then a single axel will be less costly to dump in some cases they charge less for single axel trailers. also the single axel is more maneuverable.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You make some very valid points regarding a single axle. Keep in mind that a single axle increases tongue weight. So, I could see that being the one primary drawback.

    • @Dirtpoorhomesteader
      @Dirtpoorhomesteader ปีที่แล้ว

    How much was the trailer? $8k?

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  ปีที่แล้ว

      The price of the trailer varies based on your dealer. A huge factor is the distance your dealer is from the factory. In my case, this trailer cost was right around 6K. Keep in mind this is a 2020 model. So, I am sure prices have increased.

  • @allenbarnes7202
    @allenbarnes7202 ปีที่แล้ว

    How much

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  ปีที่แล้ว

      The cost for this unit in 2020 was approximately $5,000. Keep in mind that there will be drastic differences in price depending on your location. These units are manufactured in Texas. So, your dealer’s distance from the manufacturer will impact the price.

    You left out the price

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I left out the price because prices vary drastically based on your location. This is the reason why many manufacturers do not indicate pricing on their websites or in their literature. Much of the pricing has to do with distance from the manufacturer and market demand.
