My husband was in the Army in Dessert Storm.. This Song Means so much to Us!!! Thank God For Our Men & Women For Their Sacrifice & Service FOR OUR FREEDOM.. GOD BLESS THE USA❤️🇺🇲🙏
As a Filipino American every time I hear this song I become really emotional. Can’t stop the tears run down my face. I feel so so proud, blessed, lucky and privileged to be in this greatest country on earth. My entire Filipino American family feels the same way. God Bless my country USA. 🙏🏽🇺🇸❤️🙏🏽🇺🇸❤️
To my fellow brothers and sisters who served during and in the Viet Nam war who were verbally (and some times physically) abused a simple "thank you" means a lot.
Lee Greenwood said this was the first time he was able to sing this song the way he wanted to because someone was able to carry the melody. Home Free doesn't do covers. They do upgrades. And when they collaborate with the original artist (like they did with Don McLean, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers,, and here with Lee Greenwood) they border on the supernatural. They have a way of making the original artist/s sound even better. It's like discovering them all over again.
Go ahead....get emotional. I don't trust a man who can't cry. God gave us tears for a reason. My daddy served in the USAAF in WW2......and my son gave 21 years to the Corps, serving in Iraq and retiring as a Major. I am oh so proud of them both. We live on the back door of Quantico Marine Base, and believe me, the men and women of the Corps appreciate it when someone thanks them. I went home to Chicago for Christmas a couple of years ago, and met a young soldier going home to surprise his mom for Christmas. I thanked him for his service, and he just beamed. I know he had one happy momma that Christmas.
I love this beautiful song , sung by so many wonderful people. Your father in law would have loved this song. I am Canadian but I love this song so much.
Home Free has been chosen by some amazing iconic artists to collaborate on hit songs! Don McClean, Kenny Rogers, The Oakridge Boys, Lee Greenwood…who will be next? The respect they all show for the talent our Home Free guys and vice versa is a fantastic thing to watch. It makes me proud to be an American and a Home Fry!
Thank you for your honest, heartfelt reaction and thank you for recognizing and thanking our military members! Your love and appreciation of their service touches the hearts of those that have/are serving and their families. My husband served 24 years in the Navy and my son served in the Marines, and I couldn’t be more proud!❤ love your reaction and love Home Free!
Salute to your father...love the flag! My dad was a navy fighter pilot in WWII. We could use a few great men like them right now. Each time I hear this song-the tears flow. We are blessed to live in the US of A!
So glad the men of Home Free are not afraid to show their patriotism ... sadly , many today equate patriotism with politics and don't truly appreciate the uniqueness of our country !
You asked what you were listening to: A masterpiece. Lee Greenwood still sounds great. He was able the do some adlibs to this version that he always wanted to do. This was done during quarantine and all the parts were done in the 4 cities at the beginning of this video and seamlessly edited together. The Air Force Singing Sargents were fantastic. Thank you for your heart felt reaction and to your father-in-law for his service to the country. Sorry for your loss. Keep coming back to Home Free every once in a while, there are plenty of great songs to explore. Your and your family have a blessed day.
My dad was a WWII VET and I miss him and my mom soooooo much..they both passed away in 1994 within 5 months of each other..I'm so proud to be one of their 10 children..🇺🇸🙏♥️
Thank You Larry !! One of the Very Best reactions I have ever heard. I cried right along with you. My Dad served and came back phsically but not in one piece mentally, now we know and have a name for it. This song should have won a Grammy in the least !!!
I have never wished for a ❤️ option on here as much as I do right now! I am a daughter of a Navy man and a longtime volunteer at my local American Legion. This song gets me every single time I hear it.
A great heartfelt reaction and special tribute to your father-in-law! Hey, let the song blare from your car all you want to, and let the neighbors complain! Maybe some of the "woke" ones will grow some brain cells and actually learn something! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!!!!!!!
Lee Greenwood was excited about this rendition because they let him sing it the way he really wanted it sung. Besides The USAF Band , Lee Greenwood, Tim , Rob , Chance, and Austin. What Adam Rupp did for percussion and his jet fly by. He gets a HUGE way to kick ass Adam.. love your reactions Chris and I wish you would do more Home Free. Prayers to you and your family for your loss
There's an immediate gravity to the song, in just the first two verses. We're all right there with you. Anyone with human sensibilities will choke up at this. USMC here. I believe this will be my 300th time listening.
First off, THANK YOU so much for your service. I hate how canned it must sound when someone says that, but there's truly no other way to say it. The Bible says "No greater love is this, than a man lay down his life for his friends". Thank you for stepping up to be a friend for each of us. Lastly, this is on my playlist now and I can't get enough of this song!
And can we have a shout out for the tech support on this? It was recorded and filmed in at least 4 different locations. Even the Home Free members were not all in the same place when they sang. The sound mixers and editors for Home Free are nothing short of amazing.
Larry, Thanks to your father-in- law and thank you for loving our country! I have watched your reaction a couple of times because I love experiencing it with you! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes Sir, you picked a good one to dedicate!!!! Mr Greenwood's original kicked ass and made everyone proud --- for great reason. HF had their cover of it, which was awesome in it's own right and way ......... This ONE, takes the cake!!! Condolences regarding your loss --- Thoughts & Prayers to you and family ... it's tough, very tough. Those "Service" Men & Women who give and have given deserve all the praise and then some; I for one am truly thankful. Under the guise of what is "painted" or the narrative --- they are true to our Country and its People. The "World Stage" however ... Be Safe
Kudos to everyone involved! From the producer film crew Adam Rupp with his drums in the jet sound. God bless you I feel your pain. Be blessed. My uncle at 100 years old just passed away he was in 101st airborne for D-Day. God bless past and present to stand up for the USA! And such sacrifices...
vietnam vet. It was a long time coming. So, however trite it might seem, the "thank you for your service?" is welcomed. Friends who deserve it more and have never, will never, hear it. I won't argue right or wrong; but we should all respect those who did what they felt was right with courage and conviction. the freedoms they fought for, and some died for, include religion and convictions that might even be different than those who served. Courage to stand up for your beliefs, resulting in jail time or service time are part of that heritage of freedom.
Shout out to Pop! I always called my grandfather "Pops" before he passed away. He was in the Navy and a Police officer (retired from both) before being a loving father and grandfather. You're emotions spoke to me on a soul to soul level.
I love the phenomenon called " A wall of sound". Very few groups can pull it off. Mostly happens with strong choirs. But.. Home Free and Pentatonix are great examples of the stopping power of that " wall of sound". And there couldn't have been a better song for it. Any red blooded American should tear up hearing these guys. As the family of active military and veteran, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you Larry, I appreciate so much your words. Thank you Lee Greenwood for writing this song -- for us and the world and please, please God -- bless the USA!!
That flag is such a treasure. When my late husband was in the Association of United States Army (a veterans organization) and was the assistant president, he organized a special program and had this song playing for part of it. Some of the rest of the program included veterans who had been in the Bataan Death March speaking. Not a dry eye in the house! We celebrate our veterans tomorrow, and our son will fly the flag in our yard in memory of his father. Thank you for your reaction.
You don't have to be American to appreciate the sentiments expressed in this song and enjoy the way it has been sung. I'm born & bred Canadian and I think it's marvelous even though I lack the national pride inherent in it.
Don’t be ashamed…you’ve served in your own way. Someone has to hold down the home front so there’s a reason for someone else to stand on the front line. So thank YOU.
The star of the show is definitely Lee Greenwood...he sounded AMAZING at age 77 (he is 81 and will be 82 this year). His voice is astonishing, and the song is definitely in my top 3 patriotic songs. Home Free and the USAF Band and singers made it about 5 steps above the top.
This is by far my favorite rendition of this song. Home Free is my absolute favorite group of any kind. Sorry for your loss. I love your reactions and wish you would react to Home Free more often.
Every time I hear this song I think of my dad, a Marine who fought in Korea. I miss him terribly and thank him and ALL people, past present and future, who keeps our country safe ❤️❤️
What a wonderful tribute to "Pop's" memory. You were so into the song I am not surprised that you caught Adam's "fly over" percussion at the end. Since you are a newer reactor to "Home Free" you might not have had the opportunity to listen to all their patriotic and social justice videos but you must. Another aspect that Home Free always endeavors to bring to their projects is to honor the legends that they are collaborating with. Thanks for doing this. 🇺🇲
"...from Detroit down to Houston..." I need to here more from her. That voice gets me everytime I hear this. Speaking as a third generation military veteran, it is not "hokey" to thank people for their service. It is greatly appreciated. Both my father and my father-in-law served in WW2 and I have two sons currently serving as officers in the Navy. Thank you for creating this audio reaction and tribute to your father-in-law - Pops.
I also come from a very proud military family. Fathers, uncles, brothers, husband, son, nieces and nephews served honorably and proudly. Thank you for showing your gratitude for and pride in the fine men and women who so selflessly served and sacrificed for this great nation!
This is by far the best version of this song, if it doesn’t bring out some emotion in one listening to this, I feel sorry for. them..I’m married to a Vietnam veteran and my pride in our military grows every time I listen to this song. Glad to see it also touched your heart.
My Dad was in the USMC for 33 years. He served in WW2, Korean War, and Viet Namn. He passed from Agent Orange in 1986. Through it all he was so patriotic. Mr. Greenwood sings patriotic songs like no other.
No need for an apology here for the emotions. You reacted like an american being pround of his country and the men and women that granted us the right to be a citizen of this great nation! My father is a Vietnam Vet, Uncle a Korean war vet, and grandfather a WW2 vet. If I didn't have health problems, I would have served as well. I get watery eyes with the great Lee Greenwood's first word of the song. You're a true patriot my friend, god bless and RIP to your wonderful father-in-law Pop for his service and god bless you as well.
HANDS DOWN the GREATEST RENDITION of OUR COUNTRIES HEART FELT SONG !! As a retired US ARMY MILITARY POLICEMAN , YES , it BRINGS TEARS to my EYES !! GOD BLESS ALL WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE and ALL OUR WOUNDED SOLDIERS , OUR FAMILIES WHO LOST LOVED ONES !! BE ASSURED , ALL VETERANS and PATRIOTS WILL DEFEND OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY WITH OUR LIVES !! Play this song , LOUD AND PROUD , GOD BLESSED ALL OUR MEN WHO SERVED and STILL SERVE !! We all BLEED RED , WHITE and BLUE !!
Feel NO shame about being "patriotic"! There isn't a bit of shame involved. NEVER apologize for feeling emotion abut your family, friends, or loyalties. It's certainly not weakness, but strength! I heard Lee sing this, live, in the '80's, in the Philippines, when I was in the Air Force stationed there (retired AF). Trust me, we were all highly emotional!
You know, a lot of people claim Pentatonix as their favorite group, as I once did. Then I found Home Free and PTX went to #3 (VoicePlay is #2). HF is a group of good people with great voices. They care about folks (Everybody Walking this Land, Don't Laugh at Me, Save the World, One Voice). They are patriots (Land of the Free is a whole album of love for America, Brothers in Arms, etc.). They believe in God (Go Tell it on the Mountain, Holy Night, Do You Hear What I Hear, etc.). And they know how to have fun (Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Full of Cheer, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, Butts Remix, etc.). They are so well respected, other musicians ask to sing with them. They respect and love their fans. And they are so generous they take relative unknowns on tour with them for the exposure. What's not to love?
My condolences for your family's loss. I will always remember a special moment years ago on a trip with my father who I called Pops; we were at a bookstore when a stranger came up to thank my Pops for his service. He was from Korea and told Pops that he was so very grateful for those who served in the Korean War as it enabled him and his family to be safe and emigrate to the US. Pops was a bit embarrassed but when the gentleman explained that he had waited for years to be able to thank a Korean vet in person, Pops was still a little flustered but accepted his thanks. He went on to say that it was the first time he'd ever been thanked and after that, hokey or not I always make it a point to thank those who have served, and those who are serving. This song has been a favorite and as a lucky concert goer for many of Home Free's concerts I always got emotional when they ended their show with this song. Everyone would be on their feet and the energy in the venue was enough to raise the roof!
Thank You! I'm not an American, I'm here in the UK, from the UK. ... But I love this Anthem, the American Anthem, brings tears to my eyes and soul. Great lyrics, as you said profound! The singers all brought real heart felt meaning to the song. Thanks again for sharing. Enjoy your day, blessings from the UK. ❤
You wouldn't be the only one flowing like a garden hose. Adam's percussion and fly-over are top notch in this. Thank you for the reaction and personal story.
That's Adam Rupp for ya.....the flyover at the end. Perfection 🥰 I have extensive military history in my family. They did this impeccably. Lee is said to have said he was so thrilled to dobthis with HF and the USAF Singing Sargeants, AND to finally sing it the way he wanted to! Word also is, that Lee asked HF, and THEY asked if he was OK with the USAF group to join. Gotta love those guys. 😍 they also covered "go redt high on that mountain" which is gorgeous!, and "my country tis of thee", which is also gorgeous 😍 ❤️
As a retired USAF veteran, I thank you for your deep thoughts regarding this performance and the men and women it honors. I don’t think this could ever be performed better.
My condolences on your loss and may God bless your grief journey! May all your precious memories help you through and give you peace. ♥ yes, it's a beautiful rendition with Lee and all
dont ever feel sorry for thanking them for their service...if i see any military in stores or whatever i go shake their hand and say thank you...they deserve that, they are the reason we can live free in the land we love..God Bless America and all the men and women who have served this great Country..Thank You!
Great reaction....what are you listening to....absolute perfection is what you just watched! Believe me...when they sing this live...No one is sitting....we are all standing!
This is a SPECTACULAR version of this great song! I loved it. I have a couple of request..."CAN'T STOP THAT FEELING" and "AIN'T GOING DOWN 'TILL THE SUN COMES UP!", which you will have to find on Facebook; for some reason it is not on TH-cam! These are not Country!!! Believe me! You will love them!!! I always love your reactions! With sincere appreciation from a HOME FREE fan's grateful heart! We all love you out here in HOME FREE WORLD! YOU'RE THE BEST!
This song has always been a tearjerker for me. But, this version is soooo special. Lee Greenwood was able to let the song be carried by the phenomenal voices of Home Free and the Airforce Band while he got to cut loose with some absolutely gorgeous adlibs! When Adam hits that military snare beat, if I haven't already lost it, I lose it there every single time! I appreciate how Home Free is so unapologetically patriotic! They show great respect for our country and it's veterans. I'm sorry for your recent loss! I loved seeing you share your mementos! The love you have for him is evident and tears are absolutely acceptable! In fact, I feel better when people share their tears, it shows their strength of feeling and emotion. And I'm so happy that you caught Adam's flyover sounds at the end. You are one of the few that picked up on it! Great reaction! 🙏🇺🇸❤
@@larryshair... You are very welcome. In these days of clickbait and being fake just to garner likes, I appreciate when I find a genuine reactor. Thank you!
That little jet fly over at the end was courted of Mr Rupp. Best version of this song out there. Brings a tear to my eye every time I listen. Great reaction and wonderful tribute.
First of all, Thank You, Chris, for this beautiful reaction!! Let me also join you in Thanking and Honoring Pops, and ALL our servicemen and women, past and present, for their service and devotion to our country!! Thank You too, to Home Free, Lee Greenwood and the USAF Singing Sergeants for combining their gorgeous voices into this incredible patriotic masterpiece. I have learned to always have a box of tissues handy when viewing these patriotic song videos because I know how they will affect me. Frankly, I have to wonder about anyone who doesn't shed a tear or two and I was glad to see you wear your patriotism on your sleeve. Never be sorry for showing your emotions...it is what makes us human! Secondly, I have to say that I am worried for our democracy. We have been taking it for granted. Over the past few years however, Benjamin Franklin's words of long ago, that we have..."a democracy, [IF] you can keep it," are instilling in me a growing feeling of anxiety, alarm and uneasiness. We have so much political turmoil brewing in the USA, so much hatred and insanity between the parties, that I am genuinely worried we may NOT be able "to keep it." God is purposely painting a vivid picture for us, every day, that we ALL need to open our eyes to, especially our country's leaders...of autocratic rule, Russian aggression and the atrocities in Ukraine, hatred and oppression by a madman. Is this the path we are headed down??!!! Is our future staring us in the face??!! I often wonder what our forefathers and fallen soldiers would have to say about our ability to hold onto democracy. We ALL need to pray that we can!!
What a beautiful tribute! My tears are falling with you my dear Friend! You're just incredible 😍. This song always tugs at my heartstrings. Hugs hugs hugs, patti. Ps you serve everyday more than you will ever know!!!
Larry at their concerts when they sing this, the audience rises for the song. It's an incredible experience. Been trying to get you to understand, Home Free is *MORE* than country music...they are *THE REAL DEAL* . My cousin got drafted in 1969 and came home to Miami in 1972, minus his right leg, and with drug abuse and alcohol abuse and next to no0 help from the DoD and the VA fighting him for his rightful benefits...he went and fought, not because he wanted to but because he had to do so, and then refused to treat him decently...and in 1979 in the middle of downtown Miami he blew his brains out because he was in such despair, he had nothing to lose he thought. By the way when he left he had been a high school athlete and then in college he took up bodybuilding - and this was before the abuse of steroids became a thing in that sport, and he was a big (especially to me a 10 year old he was my idol I looked up to, all I wanted to do was grow up to be and look like him...he was a hero) and then she the shadow of that man come home defeated in every way possible, and for people to treat him so disrespectfully and the government to turn their backs on him, it was disgusting
@@judydavis7993 thanks Judy. I know I've shared this story on reactions to this and to Born in the USA - Chance's awesome rendition of that classic - because it's right that we remember our Vietnam vets, who came home "losers" to some, and were so reviled & treated horribly by many segments of our country...shameful time...
@@miamidolphinsfan my brother was drafted but joined as opposed to being drafted and went to Okinawa but didn't get treated like that because I think he immediately went to work for Boeing in Seattle, but my brother-in-law came home addicted to heroin and wasn't treated very well but he did see action and the horror of that war. He still struggles to get veterans help and can't seem to get his life straightened out. I call him The Wanderer. Doesn't let any grass grow under his feet if you know what I mean. He just seems lost.☹
@@judydavis7993 that was my cousin, he came home to Miami but for 7 years left in his life he lived on the edge of society....he was no communication with the family a lot of the time....and sometimes my parents (especially my dad who was his 1st cousin) would ask his Mom (great Aunt Ella Mae) where's Jocko (his nickname) and she sometimes wouldn't know.
This was during quarantine so to get this produced and edited...Home Free have the best productions. Adam is a beast in this. His drum sounded so real.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Loved that you dedicated this to your Pop. I believe with all my heart he’s looking down on you and smiling. Love that you had such a precious relationship with him 💕💕
Just watched your reaction to the most awesome version of God Bless the USA EVER! I have been a Home Free fan for a while, but new fan of you. I love that you got emotional! No matter how many times I hear this song, and particularly this version, it still makes me cry. Enjoyed your American Pie reaction as well. If you haven't seen the video of Home Free with The Oak Ridge Boys singing Elvira, you need to check it out. So much fun!

To my fellow brothers and sisters who served during and in the Viet Nam war who were verbally (and some times physically) abused a simple "thank you" means a lot.

Thank you so much and pass along my deepest thanks to your military family. So very appreciated.
Thank you Larry, I appreciate so much your words. Thank you Lee Greenwood for writing this song -- for us and the world and please, please God -- bless the USA!!
Thank you so much!
I have blared this outta my car an hour each way and never got any complaints at all
You don't have to be American to appreciate the sentiments expressed in this song and enjoy the way it has been sung.
Got some cheers and a few salutes
This is by far my favorite rendition of this song. Home Free is my absolute favorite group of any kind. Sorry for your loss. I love your reactions and wish you would react to Home Free more often.
Every time I hear this song I think of my dad, a Marine who fought in Korea. I miss him terribly and thank him and ALL people, past present and future, who keeps our country safe ❤️❤️
It's not hokey to thank them for their service... It's gratitude and I want them to know it. Great honest reaction to a great version of this song.
Beautiful. Gr8 reaction. Thx for sharing.
What a wonderful tribute to "Pop's" memory. You were so into the song I am not surprised that you caught Adam's "fly over" percussion at the end. Since you are
a newer reactor to "Home Free" you might not have had
the opportunity to listen to all their patriotic and social
justice videos but you must. Another aspect that Home Free always endeavors to bring to their projects is to
honor the legends that they are collaborating with. Thanks for doing this. 🇺🇲
The jet was ADAM RUPP….of course 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸‼️ They did such a magnificent job of this 🇺🇸❤️‼️🇺🇸
Fantastic version, love that active members of our armed forces sang with them. 👏 👏 👏
When you're ready for a tear jerker, watch their official music video for Go Rest High on That Mountain.
Rest safe now Pops. He walks with you everyday Chris. Love ❤ to you and your fsmily
Thank you so very much
"...from Detroit down to Houston..." I need to here more from her.
Thank you so very much!
Thank your husband for his service! Salute!
My Dad was in the USMC for 33 years. He served in WW2, Korean War, and Viet Namn. He passed from Agent Orange in 1986. Through it all he was so patriotic. Mr. Greenwood sings patriotic songs like no other.
Adam nailed the vocal percussion in this one. It was a special one!! Great reaction!! 💖💖💖
Thank you for a heartfelt response. Too many Americans take our freedom for granted.
Absolutely.
Thanks so much for this! Props to Pops!
Those flyover sounds Adam makes at the end always give me an extra dose of goosebumps 🥰
This is such an amazing collaboration with Lee Greenwood and the military. This is a beautiful version.❤❤❤
That's Adam Rupp for ya.....the flyover at the end. Perfection 🥰
I have extensive military history in my family.
Thank you so very much!
Thank you for your service! Our country is better because of soldiers like you. Salute!
It's ok man, cry it out. I know the song is very touching and powerful
My condolences on your loss and may God bless your grief journey! May all your precious memories help you through and give you peace. ♥ yes, it's a beautiful rendition with Lee and all
Thanks so much!
Best version ever, Larry I could not stop the tears, This was so moving
Thanks Paul! This was a great song!
dont ever feel sorry for thanking them for their service...if i see any military in stores or whatever i go shake their hand and say thank you...they deserve that, they are the reason we can live free in the land we love..God Bless America and all the men and women who have served this great Country..Thank You!
I cry every time I hear a patriotic song
No shame in a tear for your country and that amazing arrangement....Lee still got the chops...Subscribed👍
Thanks Shelia!!!!!
Thanks so much Chris. You are so very kind!
This is THE BEST version of this song I’ve ever heard! I can’t tell you how many times I e listened to it and still it brings tears to my eyes❤️
Go rest high on that mountain is another great one!
Thank you for this. I wish I could like it twice. So very well said. Thank you. Keep praying.
What a beautiful tribute! My tears are falling with you my dear Friend! You're just incredible 😍. This song always tugs at my heartstrings. Hugs hugs hugs, patti. Ps you serve everyday more than you will ever know!!!
Thanks again Patti!
So sorry for your loss Kevin. 😥
I am so very sorry
Amazing reaction! I’ve been waiting for someone to notice the fly over at the end. I’ve watched this probably a dozen times and cry every time.
I m sorry for the loss of your father in-law.....Thank you POP for your service!
Thank you so much!
All I can say is AWESOME !!!!
I get chills every time I here this song
Great reaction. I dedicate this song to my Father and my Uncle's, as they all served. ❤️
Thank you so much!
