What gets me the most about this is that while these two men are capable of bringing someone to tears with their performance in the operatic style, they CHOOSE to sing acapella together. Any of them could have a solo career singing in the style they prefer, but they CHOOSE to be together. We as fans are truly blessed.

So glad to find someone that claims not to like a type of music (country, folk, bluegrass, opera), yet be objective enough to make a lier of himself, and be able to gush over a purely beautiful performance.
(P.S. - - loved the subtle video touch at the beginning as Austin leaves his cowboy hat behind, hanging off the pew.)

Always love your reactions. I love Home Free and have been to 7 of their concerts, which are amazing. You haven't done a reaction to Dimash recently. He has released a new video in English called " The Story of One Sky". It was released 1 month ago and already has 1.7 million views. He composed the music and he was the director. It is reported to be the most money ever spent on a music video, 7 million. Would love to see you react to it.

Just goes to show.... You can't judge a book by it's cover. Just because they focus on country, doesn't mean they can't sing anything they want. The training and talent in this group is immense!

This is just one instance that goes to prove you should never judge a book by its cover. Or a singer by his supposed "genre"! I know that Rob and Austin were nervous about this release and how it would be received. I'd have to say that from all the reactors I've watched, and the comment sections, that it's been a resounding success! I'm not into opera, but even I can appreciate the very specific skill set that opera singers train very hard to achieve. And this has only become more beautiful the more I've heard it. Great reaction! I hope you'll let us know what your Mom thought of it. ❤

This is really insane. It is so extremely good. Fantastic. Wow is that what I said when i heard it too. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed!!! His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm and powerful. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. For me he will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible.
Even if you don't like opera, you have to like it.

Rob trained in opera in college, but hasn’t sung it in 15 years. Austin majored in musical theater, but did some opera as well. This was Austin’s brainchild. They wanted to do it, but were very nervous as well (hence the title of the video) and did not want to raise expectations too much. But they nailed it, as always!!

Enjoyed your reaction, Chris! A number of reactors anticipated some typical Home Free shenanigans (like their 'Butts Medley' video) or that it would be lipsync'd. Took a bit of encouragement from Austin to get Rob on board being he'd not done opera in 15 years. While not completely shocked by Rob, am very impressed by how comfortably he stepped back into this role after so long showing us just how much more he's capable of. Also, pleasantly surprised by Austin. Applaud them both for doing something different and hopefully taking the overwhelmingly positive response to this to do even more. As you intimated, this potentially introduces more (existing and new) fans to their work, individually and collectively, as Home Free. Always appreciate when the guys leave us amazed.

James Brown and Pavarotti did a live version of "It's a Mans World" which is fantastic as well...however the beauty of this is that it brings exposure of Opera to a whole new collection of people that might otherwise not listen to it. Kind of Home Free bringing Country to those that may not normally listen to Country. Rob has training in Opera in College, and you can tell, and Austin is trained in Theatrical performance, but also had to sing some Opera in college. Rob is singing much more in classical operatic style while Austin would be considered more of a crossover singer.

I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

Thanks Chris! Austin and Rob did a fantastic job on this cover. Rob studied opera in his college years, but had not performed it in 15 years. Austin studied musical theater in college. This was Austin's idea - he had to talk Rob into it. Both of them were so nervous in the premiere chat for this video. They were so afraid we weren't going to like it. Boy, were they wrong! Now if we could just get the whole group to do an opera piece - THAT would be special. I'd pay big money to hear/see that. 🖤🍟

I have loved this song for many decades and always went to Pavarotti or Lanza for the best performances, however...when I heard Rob Lundquist, my jaw fell to the floor and my tears started. Rob sounds like an opera singer and (NOT a jab), Austin sings opera. I absolutely, honestly LOVED this (even after listening to it over 100 times already.) All the Home Free guys are extremely talented - each in their own way. I did get to see them in concert this past February and even coming back from the pandemic closure, they sounded as good live as they do on their recorded releases. Bravo, sirs! I'm ready to listen to them tackle "Ave Maria!" Please all subs - listen to and like the song that's posted on Austin Brown's channel to support the (successful) effort and their friendship. A big thank you (and props for being totally unselfish) to Austin for "persuading" Rob to sing this with him! And thanks Chris for your enthusiasm, appreciation and excitement. I got the impression you didn't doubt that they could pull this off?! I know you're more of a PTX fan, but man, you have to appreciate this wonderful rendition of a classic Aria! (Turandot / Puccini) p.s. For those who would like to hear Luciano Pavarotti sing this aria, this is his best performance (IMHO): th-cam.com/video/Q_hLh4qCqpg/w-d-xo.html

This is the reason everyone points at Rob when the group is asked who is the best singer. Classical technique at this level shouldn't be possible after 15 years off
Austin chose to use theatrical technique and it was the right choice for him.
I think performing this solo as a duo and mixing the two techniques was very interesting and made it their own. I can't argue with how great it sounded.

Oh my goodness, I have been so swept in by this that it hadn't even occurred to me that I want to hear this as a full-on Home Free 5-part acapella arrangement. At the same time I'm so grateful they haven't done this as a group because, man, I don't know how my systems would process it. They could barely process this to begin with. I literally froze with my jaw dropped, goosebumps all over, and tears in my eyes for at least a minute after it ended after my first listen, and it took several more minutes to close said jaw and for the tears to run down the cheeks and the goosebumps to disappear. Thanks for the reaction!

Aren’t you glad you did this one? I’m not crazy about opera, but I do like some of it. Austin also does “Bring Him Home”, which is soooo beautiful! These guys are just simply the best! Our #HomeFreeGuys go all out for their fans, & their talents just blow everyone’s mind. Keep the reviews coming! #HomeFryForLife ❤

I love it when all the teachers go speechless. You tickle me. I don't care how many times I lesson to tbis, it just keeps getting better and better. MORE, MORE, MORE.

You're right! This is just way too short! I wanted more. I'm so glad they did this. It's getting so much attention and so many people are now hearing opera that have never heard it before and appreciating such beautiful music. BTW, Rob has classical training in opera (and likely could have had a very successful career in opera had he chosen to purse that path). Austin has had no classical training.

I was hoping you would react to this. It’s lovely, isn’t it? You should check out Austin Brown’s channel. He’s done some really nice live performances. I’ve noticed that a few of the people who have reacted to this have checked out Home Free.

What a fabulous reaction. These boys can sing pretty much anything. I agree with your wish that people try different types of music. I just dipped my toe into Nightwish, for which I feel like I'm several generations too old, but I kinda liked it. Probably not going on my playlist, but it was interesting to my percussion loving heart. You never know until you try.

This is a amazing, what an incredible vocal range. Wish you would react to Home Free’s cover of “How Great Thou Art”. I think you would enjoy that as well.

It's nice to see artists do something different than what they are known for.
