I drove down to ride her on one of the Saturday trains and I knew from your videos that she is loud, but I was not prepared for just how loud. I videoed her going by at Coal and it physically hurt my ears, and I'm a mechanic for a living and used to loud noises.
In the second scene, she almost sounds like a GS-4. Then she sounds like a PRR T-1. I’m so happy to see her wide awake from her long slumber in the roundhouse.
Yep, they "woke her up" if you will, last month. I also see the resemblance of the whistles you mentioned, although the heritage of each are Southern and B&O
Shame after Labor Day weekend it’s gonna be a while til 425 runs again cause for starters the fall foliage excursions are cancelled and I got a gut feeling the Christmas trains will too
Who knows what may happen, she might run out of Reading, she might come back to the gorge, or she might run out of Tamaqua because theres a new station platform there
What a spectacular video! You got some amazing shots! 425 sounds really cool with that 3 chime. I’ve really gotta get down there some day!
Thanks a bunch! I love those whistles they had this weekend. You should really come down some time.
Train Chamber you’re welcome! Yeah I think I’ll plan a trip for late fall.
@@StrictlySteam Unfortunately they've cancelled their all-day excursions from Reading, but you never know what they've got in store for Fall.
Train Chamber yeah I heard. Hopefully they do something good.
Very nice, Joe! Great seeing ya out there again! Looking forward to what the fall brings for 425 and a new steamer hehehe

Great video Joe! We do apologize that we couldn’t come up to Pennsylvania and see this beautiful engine again this year, but maybe next year!

Its definitely a great ride, and they dont call her the loudest for no reason lol. Thanks for checking out my vid!
Epic whistle on it.
Agreed

Outstanding work!
Thanks for the nice comment!
The whistle.....I almost sounds like Florida east coast 148's in the 1970s, when it was running the blue comet excursions in new Jersey
Kinda yeah. Even though they aren't i can kinda hear it
Good video .👍🏻 .
Thanks
When 425 was nearing the crossing, a person as nearly hit by it.
Unfortunately yes. I heard the engineer blow the whistle the way he did, and i saw someone running out from behind the tender
Epic
Thanks

Where is 425 located?
Well shes headquartered out of Port Clinton PA, but she runs out of more notable towns, such as Jim Thorpe or Reading
epic!
Thanks!
Wonder if Strasburg 90 can get a LV 3 Chime?
Theoretically yes, but they probably wouldnt
@@TrainChamber Well then what about a Frisco 3 Chime?
@@brianfalzon6739 They likely wouldnt change the whistle at all considering its been on since the 60s
Train Chamber Uh, ok!
@@brianfalzon6739 You never know though, 90 had that one Hooter back in 2013

Huh well thx for the info but maybe she might get to run 1 or 2 more times this year since 2102 is nearing completion in a month or 2 at least
@@atsfevan0242 Thats true, no one knows what they might pull out of their sleeve
@@TrainChamber yeah only time will tell
