I just went to see the vet for my dogs rabies shots and she told me it was best not to feed my dogs table scraps and how bad my free range eggs were for my dogs. I so wanted to show her this video. I didn’t even have my phone with me but if it’s ok to share this on my Facebook page I will. We need to get the word out to pet parents like myself who absolutely love my babies and live to care for them. The dog food industry, which is making a “killing”! is killing our fur babies, and it has to stop. I didn’t feed my kids packaged food and I’m sure the hell not going to feed my fur kid’s packaged food. I didn’t sit and argue with her, but she’s wrong so wrong. Thanks for supporting us and teaching us how to feed our fur babies, because it’s scary. I know I want the best for my two fur babies. I sure hope more people stand up for the ones who don’t have a voice. “ well should I say a voice most humans don’t understand, my fur kids actually talk pretty good.” I understand them better than most humans. 😉

I've been making up my large dogs food in my crock pot.....parboiled rice, skinless/boneless chicken thighs, sweet potatoe, carrots, green beans.....yes it requires a little more work, but it has become pretty easy. Make a big batch in the crock pot, store in the fridge for 3 days. I also sprinkle in some joint pain glucosamine powder I got from the health store....and my dogs love cod liver oil capsules as their treats. Even my cat eats the same diet and they all love it....each dish is licked clean. Buy whatever meat and veggies that are on sale, same with veggies. As a snack I might feed them some apple. My old boy is 12 1/2 years old and a very large breed, his coat is very shiny which tells me he is eating well and pretty healthy, when I was told he would only live until about 10 yrs old (bonus years), he is worth any extra effort.

After adopting a dog with severe food allergies, I am relieved and happy to see a vet that thinks raw is a healthy part of a varied diet for dogs. A raw based diet with a unique protein (llama) pretty much saved my dog from a life of misery and yeast infections. I've been lectured harshly by a couple of vets about raw, when all the reading I did pointed that it would be beneficial. He now has a more varied diet, as we've found more foods he is okay with, and is a completely different pet than when we first got him. I'm impressed with your food and supplement recommendations, keep up the good work!

During the pandemic’s supply chain issues, I put my girls on a rotation of about four different dog foods-no corn, wheat or soy-but also no legumes in the first five ingredients. I also started feeding about one-third to half high protein/veggie homemade food. My lab stopped itching; my husky has a better appetite. Both are lean and energetic. I home pressure-can ground meat/carrots/green beans for when we have to travel, kennel or have a dog sitter. Their favorite treat? Splitting a can of sardines in water on top of their food!

Hello, I have a 5 months GSD puppy and want to know about feeding raw, I have heard that it is best to feed the dog cooked food because in case he is used to raw he'll in case of attack , won't hesitate to eat a human! This is the culture for raising a dog in my town, hope you can tell me what are the reasons you know about raw food

    • @niteblaster1

      @@xavi9933
      Raw food is inferior
It has less protein much harder to digest
It's just an idle way of feeding your dog
If you have children your dog will have rancid blood around its mouth especially dangerous if it's chicken, The only reason human jumped several hundred thousand years in evolution is because we started cooking food
This is what David Attenborough said,
I've noticed my dogs are skinnier when I used to feed raw, And I had to feed 40% more food

Sadly my beautiful Aussie passed on only a week after turning 11. He had a heart attack just as we started our nightly walk, not even 300 yards from the house. I'm convinced he had DCM or it was a contributing factor. I always varied the brands of dog food and cooked for him occasionally and fed him table leftovers, but nearly always bought him grain free kibble or grain free canned. He had a sensitive stomach and had problems with regular kibble. Sadly the report linking grain free food came out 5 months after his death. Sure enough nearly all the brands he ate had peas and/or lentils. We have a new dog (almost out of puppyhood) and I really appreciate that you took the time to make this list. She and I both thank you.

Growing up in the 80's and 90's we fed the family dogs (mostly German Shepherds) from the dinner table; they ate what we ate minus the deserts and they lived beyond their mid- teens. My first dog, with a family of my own, died just 2 months shy of his 4th b.d. With our two year old shepherd-border collie mix I've been feeling the need to make him healthy home made meals, and your video just confirmed the need to act on that hunch. When I announced it to my husband and kids there was a big "WHAT?!"... I told them, no more take out, we're eating what the dog eats. Thanks, doc, you're an inspiration.

Both of my girls seem to do best on Salmon. One of my dogs has a history of colitis and seems to benefit from rice and from fiber. I’ve been feeding them Instinct salmon and rice, which does have peas, but they’re in the 7th position. I top it with Stella and chewy’s beef and salmon patties. It’s always hard to know what’s ideal, but they seem to be doing well and I think this is a decent balance for them.

My last two dogs (a Shih Tsu and a Doxie) lived 17 & 18 years. I now have adopted a Black Lab and a Rhodesian Ridgeback / English Mastiff cross. Both are doing wonderful. I also make them jerky treats and peanut butter oatmeal cookies made with just oatmeal, peanut butter and honey. I make big batches of their food and treats and freeze them. The ratio is 250mg calcium per 4 oz of animal protein or 1Gram per pound of animal protein.
Dr Jones has,a supplement to add to homemade food to balance it

My dog's itching was crazy at 2 years old. My vet said switch to grain free. I tried several. When I hit upon Nutro Grain Free, all itching stopped. He did great for years. Now he's 11-/12, lethargic, takes much-shortened walks and breathes loud and heavy all night. Just returned from the vet and initial diagnosis is grade 3 heart murmur, without any testing, just listening to his heart with the stethoscope. He also took blood and I'll get results today. He's a border collie.

The FDA did the same study in cats decades ago and the conclusion was there was low amounts of taurine in their food. Taurine comes from meats, US standards don’t have enough taurine in a feeding. Go with a food from Europe (farmina is one of them), and do a taurine supplement such as chicken heart or beef heart! ❤️🐶

Wouldn’t you know it, about a week after her dry dog food arrived the the list came out. Her food was number 5 on the list. Terrific. I bought a larger size bag by accident but I’m going to use it anyway. I could have sent it back but that would be really difficult given the size of the bag. It’s frustrating. Any vet I have ever taken my dogs to ask me what I feed them. The first time I was asked this, It concerned me because I thought I was doing something wrong!
The vet said “ No, no, no, I was asking because your dogs are healthy. Their eyes are bright, no redness around the white of the eyes, their bloodwork is great, and they seem so vibrant in their coats! “
I have followed the same regime since day one in February of 2006, when I got my oldest one, who was 3 months old at the time. I fed purina puppy chow( dry), and also gave every other day or so, one pouch of pedigree puppy ( wet), and a small portion of meat and/ or vegetables from our dinner table after we ate . I boil chicken, shred and give occassionally. As adult dogs , I have given Purina Dog chow ( dry), and pedigree canned adult (wet). My oldest is now about to turn 14 years, and he woke up at 6:30 this morning all bouncy and playful! Ready to “ tour” the yard to get his morning exercise, and he is a miniature Schnauzer, salt/pepper in color! Most all owners of schnauzers have lost theirs at or around age 11-12 years! Even the lady who got her schnauzer from the same breeder I did!
Consistancy, I think has been the best thing for my dogs diet! He loves steak, rice, vegetables , chicken , and dairy products from the table, my husband has ALWAYS shared toast and butter with them almost every weekend morning! Moderation, is the key!
I also give rawhide chews with chicken jerky for their teeth, they get beggin strips for a softer treat, and this is not a daily thing always!
Growing up, our outside dogs only had table scraps, leftover scraps, NEVER did my parents purchase dogfood from a store, and we had the healthiest dogs in the neighborhood, who lived LONG productive lives!
I rarely give shots, or deworm mine, and unless absolutely necessary, they never get rabies shots! My Schnauzer has lost a few teeth, and now has one fatty tumor at age 13 1/2 yrs old! But, he gets around like he is a puppy! 😊

I am 52 yrs old and as long as I can remember my parents and I both gave all our dogs Purina Dog Chow and our dogs lived healthy long lives. I recently listened to people about the feeding craze of feeding "Grain Free" foods to our two Boxers. Well since then we have given our two boxers 4-Health grain free and one of them collapsed in the back yard while playing with our other dog, we ran to him, I picked him up in my arms and as he drept over my arms Limp (Dead) we were crying and my wife started patting his chest and he came back to life with his eyes wide open and couldn't stand up but slowly regained consciousness. Then we switched to Nutro and just a week ago he almost done it again so no more of the So Called "Good Healthy Food" BS.... This never happened before on that "Trash Food" as some say.... But ironically some of the foods mentioned in this video as SAFE are mentioned in the FDA list of foods...Here is the list along with the cases of each food: Acanna 67 -- Zignature 64 -- Taste of the wild 53 -- 4Health 32 -- Earthborn Holistic 32 -- Blue Buffalo 31 -- Natures Domain 29 -- Fromm 24 -- Merrick 16 -- California Natural 15 -- Natural Balance 15 -- Orijen 12 -- Natures Variety 11 -- Nutrisource 10 -- Nutro 10 -- Rachael Ray Nutrish 10 Now people can say don't trust the FDA and all that but I for one am not going to take a chance of my dogs dropping in our back yard over this shit... Ask yourself this one very question: "How come that "Trash Food" Purina Dog Chow isn't on that list?

There are some of us who do not have time to make dog food. My dog is allergic to chicken, salmon, beef, all grains and turkey. We have been feeding her Orijen and Acana that do not have the ingredients to which she’s allergic. To be honest her health improved immensely after we switched her to these foods. She is 12.5 years old and walks 2 miles 4-5 days per weeks and sometimes even longer on the weekend. I hate to see anyone lose their pets because it is heart breaking. I have been there. I get it. However, IMHO 500 cases out of the millions of people using these dog foods doesn’t seem like enough to make a definitive correlation that the food is the culprit. If I read the report correctly, they can’t say for sure. What do you suggest for folks with dogs that have multiple allergies .

I wonder sometimes if the problem with dog and cat food is that we have a tendency to buy a particular kind and then feed them the exact same thing for years.
