  • The World of Interiors presents Visitors’ Book with Emma Hawkins. Antique dealer Emma Hawkins welcomes us into her contemporary London home that is brimming with precious antiques.
    A contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life, Emma’s peaceful abode provides an escape from London’s fast-paced way of living, alongside playing host to her collection of art and antiques. “The fact that everything is for sale, gives it that lovely movement,” Emma explains as she describes her home’s interior design. “Nothing necessarily has a permanence. And then you’ve got an ever-changing canvas, so in a way it’s an art form.” Watch the full episode of Visitors’ Book as we explore Emma Hawkins’ light and airy London townhouse.

      This house is anything but simple. Her decor alone is worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions. The house, it's finishings, location and garden is also up there in terms of cash. This is a wealthy person with a wealthy taste.

    Clearly the home of an English Slytherin aristocrat living in London. Jokey comments aside, this interesting interior reflects the owner's interest which is natural history and the contemporary high end gallery world (her space looks more like a gallery than a comfortable home). One person's 'dead' or ' 'austere' is another person's minimalist and calm.

    I agree. the colour (yes!..'colour') black is misunderstood. Black is a really 'mature' colour. When I was younger, I used to dislike the colour black (also the colour white) very much, but now in later years I always incorporate both amongst my chosen colour palette, in my previous homes and my present one.

    What do you mean with a drawing room? I live in Norway so I don't know the term.

    • @MTMF.london
      @MTMF.london ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Drawing room is posh word for a formal living room. Those who are rich enough to have a drawing room usually have another room, called a sitting room, for more casual gatherings where they let the children in or watch TV.
