I've been such a huge fan since I was in highschool you've inspired me so much that I'm currently in Japan for study abroad! Thank you for showing such an awesome day trip!
@@KingKogi Same here! I just rediscovered your videos on this new(ish?) channel and it sparked so much inspiration. I just bought tickets to Japan for next February! Using most of your videos for my itinerary 😂🫶🏼
I've been watching since highschool too, I think they had just moved to Japan then so didn't have much Japan content so they kinda got me into south Korea culture too!
When I was younger I used to watch EatYourKimchi religiously and now after splitting from a 13 year relationship I’ve been burying myself in your newer work. Just wanted to say thank you for always putting out such amazing videos! 💕
I love your channel SO much (And have followed you for years). You know these videos really reminded me what I loved about Travel Channel when they were still showing Globetrotter. So many interesting locations, friendly hosts with pleasant voices. It just felt like you were travelling with them. Now I have replaced that hole in my soul with your videos
Hi Martina! Love your videos! Just letting you know that the malassada is actually a Portuguese treat that is very popular in Hawaii. So the origin is actually Portuguese!
I know 😩 I should have mentioned it,as I actually knew it was Portuguese immigrants to Hawaii that started Leonard’s. They started making Portuguese malasada for a Portuguese holiday and sold it at their bakery and it took off. I realize looking back on it, it sounds like I’m saying “malasada is Hawaiian”but I’m grateful for having audience members like you that can also share this information when I miss the mark! 🙇🏼♀️
Yea it’s actually a copy of the French beignet. You know coffee is served everywhere and some people think it’s originally South American but it’s actually Ethiopian. Hawaii grows coffee beans too.
I have visited Yokohama twice (first time around 5 years ago and second time was few months ago) and I would like to share some of my absolutely favorite places: 1 - Yokohama Doll Museum 2 - Hara Model Railway Museum If you like miniatures, dolls, and history those two places are an absolute delight! Even if you are not particularly into trains or dolls, I would say they are a must visit. My third pick is is about food, and even though it is by no means central, and takes around 35 minutes to get to - "Hectopascal" is THE BEST pizza in Japan I have had.
It's amazing to see what you've built Martina ❤️ I have been following you since I was a teenager, I'm now 27 with a kiddo, who also loves to watch you! ❤️🎉 ❤️ You're incredible and I'm so happy you kept your videos going even after all you've been through! You're an inspiration to us both! 🥰
Oh gosh 😭 thanks so much for sticking around through all the bumps and up and downs. It’s been a super difficult times for me (and the whole world) past few years, but the community on King Kogi trickling in and bringing joy to my life has been amazing. Thanks so much for watching, and hi to your kids!
Wonderful to see Yokohama get some coverage from a quality channel. My wife and I are looking to move there as part of a 5 year plan. Please keep up with the great work you do. But balanced with relaxing wander days. Thank you Martina.
This is perfect!! We leave for Kawasaki with our scout troop in late July and our host families are asking what we would like to do that’s local. How timely! You rock and are awesome for posting these videos. The only TH-cam channel from all my subscriptions that I actually rang the bell for. :)
Well gosh thanks so much for such a great comment 😭 so amazing that you ring that bell 🛎️ and happy to help! Please check the infobox for a free map guide to this area from my travel guide shop!
I know through the years and through your previous channel you have talked about accessibility in Japan but I would LOVE to see a video on accessibility. I see your badge hanging from your backpack and I think so many people (including myself) are jealous at the many different ways Japan helps everyone including pregnant people. I know I get so excited at any video you post but would LOVE to have a full video on accessibility in Japan/asia.
Martina, you look like you are living well and truly loving/being refreshed by life. I have been watching your content for many years and am so so happy for you as a fellow zebra. May your days be full of light! ❤
Hi Martina, You're videos are such a gem to watch. I love the editing, the humor, the shots y'all take, and your voice over. Such a joy to watch and still have since 2010! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos! Keep it up and sending love from Oregon :)
Thank you for your incredible Japan advice and for basically being the TH-cam equivalent of a perfectly cooked wagyu steak: delightful, satisfying, and way too cool to exist in this chaotic world. Watching your videos feels like hanging out with the friend who not only knows where all the hidden gems are but could also charm a vending machine into giving free snacks.
Funny thing too is I figured out that I had EDS through watching you, so I have had so much help from you, I will keep building. Thank you for everything ❤️.

I'm flying to Japan in 2 weeks! this is so helpful! Thank you so much! Will definitely add this to my list to visit in Japan! I didn't even know this existed! Sooo excited to explore Japan
Hi there from the US! I've been watching vlogs from Abroad in Japan and other Tokyo Creative people forever, so I'm surprised I didn't see your channel sooner. This was a fun tour! Nice variety of camera work and places. Everything you included in your tour was new to me, and it looks like there's quite a library of past adventures to see. Keep up the awesome work! 😊
Welcome to the King Kogi universe Becca, so happy you stumbled upon my channel. I hope to see you in the comment section again! Enjoy the library of adventures~
Loving your sense of humor in this video, Martina! Glad to see more of your whimsical self paired with a quality guide/video. Can't wait to hit up some of these places when I'm back in japan!
Yay Yokohama everytime in Queen Square when I see the poem in german from the escalator its so weird but lovely (Yes, greetings from Germany ;) ) Last time we spend a few days in Yokohama to explore and it was such a nice experience, because it is so walkable (?) there. Thank you, as always, for this great video
I met some girls from Yokohama when I was like 11 and vowed to go there one day and see what it's like. When I turned 21 I finally went and had such an amazing day there! I wanna go back there for sure and this guide is super helpful.
I've been watching you for at least 6 years now and every single one of your videos inspires me just a little bit more to travel to Japan. Your videos will be so invaluable when I finally make it there. I feel like once I'll go I'll be looking around on every street corner and near every CROD sticker expecting to see yoU!
Hi Martina! Love your videos! This one is especially calming. I can just listen to you talk about Japan without actually having an actual plan to visit. Great music that carries you through the video.
Thank you for your recommendations, this video was exactly what I needed! (I'll be in Japan for 3 months during winter). My workplace has an office in Yokohama but I have done like zero research on the area, and this was exactly what I needed at the right time. You're always awesome with your videos and recommendations, thank you so much!
I'm blown away Leonard's has a branch in Yokohama! Gosh those are so good. Deceptively simple, but a perfect magical balance of texture and flavor. mmmmm
OMG! You are the main reason why I feel soo excited and prepared when I go visit Japan! but I'm also happy you and Dan are working and still buddies! I'm happy for your glow you have and I hope it continues!
In Yokohama there’s a ramen museum that’s not the cup ramen one! It’s really good and every place has mini ramens so you can try ramen from each restaurant!! It’s super fun
I'm so glad I found your channel! Not only are you incredibly helpful, but you are also absolutely delightful! The "mark is" moment had me laughing haha
Martina you look great! thank you for showing us around around Yokohama, it seems like there are so many fun things to do and it doesn't seem too overcrowded
The streets are wider than Tokyo's Shibuya, Asakusa, and Akihabara, and there aren't many tourists, so you can spend a comfortable time in Yokohama. However, Kamakura and Enoshima, which can be reached in 30 minutes from Yokohama, have narrow streets and are extremely crowded, so be careful.
This was such a deligtful video to start my Monday morning with! It is so wonderful to see you thriving. The passion and care you put into your content is so evident. Thank you for sharing with us and I'm wishing you all good things!
I love your videos soooo much! I have been watching since the EYK days, but never commented. I am so proud of you you and your new life adventure. I am doing so much research going on a Japan Girls trip March 2024. Yokohama is very very high on my list to explore. Keep glowing!
This is a really great video!! I'm currently planning for my trip to Japan again and this helps me to decide on whether to visit Yokohama this time round. :)
I stayed in Yokohama for a week with a homestay family and went to school there. Commuting all the way to Tokyo boggles my mind. I’m excited to visit Japan once again in the future. the cool kids call it y-ko.
I did 2.5 weeks in Japan in May and based myself out of Yokohama. It is a wonderful place to see and do things as well as take trains to Tokyo and other parts of Japan from Shin-Yokohama station.
I admit, I totally overlooked Yokohama, but it was the setting of an anime I loved during the pandemic (Bungou Stray Dogs) and I found myself pausing the show to look at all the cool buildings. Imagine my surprise to know that the real life city looks so similar to the backgrounds on the show. So when I do my Japan trip in the next couple years, I am DEFINITELY going and I'll be using your guide and this video :)
I really enjoyed watching this! I finally got to go to Japan for a whole month in January after it being my dream since i was very little, I used to ask my parents if i could stay up late just to watch you guys stream and talk about your adventures! We even stayed in Yokohama and it was only one station away from the bay!! I can't wait to visit these spots if I'm ever able to come back 😊💗🌸
Really love you videos!! So well made! Everything, the editing, the content, your sense of humor, all make the videos amazing! I really enjoy watching them!!
Omg omg Martina I swear you have been listening to my thoughts as I have been planning a trip to Tokyo with the family for next month and we will be staying in Yokohama since I just love the wide open spaces. Now secretly hoping to run into you😊😊
Late to comment, but I’m in Japan on vacation right now and was looking for things to do in Yokohama on the last day. Keep on making great content, as someone who also deals with EDS you rock.
@@KingKogi Thanks! Weirdly, I think I liked the super firm beds, cause it seemed like they made me just stay on my back the whole night instead of tossing and turning.
I've been spending the past few days going through all your videos to find things to do when I go to Japan in a couple of months and I thought I'd missed one when I saw this pop up in the playlist, and now I've realised it's a new video! Yay! Time to add even more to my list!
I watched Eat you kimchi about ten years ago briefly for about a year and then life happened and I lost track. Just the other day I thought of it again and saw about the divorce and all the big changes. I recently left a narcissist and am in my own new apartment. I’m happy to have a new channel to watch that in some ways feels aligned with my own new chapter.
Thank you so much for this one! My whole family and I will be staying in Tokyo on their first night in Japan, ever. This gave me great ideas to show them around, and I think they will particularly love the craft beer at Hammerhead 7/11 and getting to see the bay at night.
Just found your videos, and we love it! You & Dan are such a great team. Thank you! Thank you! We are going to Yokohama at the end of this year. Thanks to your videos that get us so excited about our first visit to Yokohama.
im so happy for you martina. you look beautiful and i hope you are doing well. your videos have always had a special touch to them, theyre so fun and cute. not to mention packed with great information!!
I'm currently in Tokyo and the tour I planned to do tomorrow just got cancelled. I vaguely remembered a recent video from KingKogi about a daytrip, and so this is my plan now! thank you for sharing~ ❤
Great Video! In addition to the suggestions made in the video, I would like to add a few things I went to see in Yokohama during a day trip I took there from Tokyo. 1) Yokohama Chinatown: Very walkable with bright lit alleys with red lantern lights and tons of different chinese restaurants and snack places, with cantonese and taiwanese foods! It is the largest Chinatown in Japan. (Kobe also has a smaller Chinatown) 2) Yokohama Gundam Factory: They are closing up in 2024 (according to the current announcements). You don't have to be a Gundam fan to enjoy the spectacle that is a 6-story Gundam mecha that MOVES, with daily scheduled light/music shows featuring the moving Gundam mecha.
This is perfect! My friends and I are hoping to make a trip to Japan in 2025 and we're totally overwhelmed with things to do or places to go. I do know that I want to visit Yokohama, as from what I've seen, I completely fell in love with the place. Thanks so much!
Great video and humor, I love it! I’m going to japan this year and we really want to go to yokohama, specially because our favorite anime happens there, but this locations looks amazing. We live in a sea shore city, so that our vibe. Thanks you!!!!
Ugghh I can see the place that has the best doria I've ever had behind you in the malasada shot. Yokohama Motomachi Doria has lovely fondue and soups too!
Thanks Marina! I'm not able to travel for the next couple years, so it's so fun being able to explore new places with you and daydream about future trips and adventures. ☺️
Love your videos Martina ❤️ so wholesome, fun and just full of positive vibes. I’ve made a habit of cooking breakfast while watching them 😊 best part of my mornings .
This was quite emotional for me, as this is one of the places a beloved friend of mine took my mom and me less than a year before she decided... Yeah, so it was special to see it. I've been back, last time my mom visited before I left Japan, still makes me miss her...❤
Your Totoro among the mushrooms dress is absolutely glorious! :O "...from someone who doesn't usually like cola" whaaatt?! Sacre bleu! That 7/11 looked incredible, wowow. This video was absolutely filled with glorious things, amazing job Martina!

For reference Toronto overwhelmed me 😅
I recommend my Gotokuji temple Tokyo Tours! I even mention how it’s chill for those of us with sensory sensitivity 🐱
If you’re sensitive to the sensory overwhelm, I would avoid any large city. Just visit smaller cities or towns or do beach vacations

So happy to see you thriving Martina! Love your vibe & your voice is a comforting as always ❤❤❤
Your videos bring me a special joy Martina, forever grateful you've worked so hard to share your world with us 💗
Great Video!
(Kobe also has a smaller Chinatown)
2) Yokohama Gundam Factory: They are closing up in 2024 (according to the current announcements).
I am Japanese
Midsummer and midwinter are too hot and too cold, so I think it's better to avoid them."
Have a nice trip ❤️
Great video and humor, I love it! I’m going to japan this year and we really want to go to yokohama, specially because our favorite anime happens there, but this locations looks amazing. We live in a sea shore city, so that our vibe. Thanks you!!!!
Ugghh I can see the place that has the best doria I've ever had behind you in the malasada shot. Yokohama Motomachi Doria has lovely fondue and soups too!
Wooow! I am convinced, I can't wait to add this to my Japan bucket list :D
Excellent thanks! I wanted to explore more of Yokohama. This helps a lot.

Thanks Marina! I'm not able to travel for the next couple years, so it's so fun being able to explore new places with you and daydream about future trips and adventures. ☺️
I’m been missing your videos. Glad you’re back! ❤
I've been back, last time my mom visited before I left Japan, still makes me miss her...❤
soo happy to come back to watch your videos! I used to watch when I was like 17 y/o haha
