Balahara uses some of the Najarala movement animations, like coming out of the ground and arm/leg movement. Good video, hope we get some snake love in wilds!
You know...I didn't even question the fact that Balahara was a Leviathan, the class sort of just became "Snake" category in my eyes. Somnacanth especially fits snuggly between both classifications with its characteristics
Yeah it's very odd to me. Like, if we didn't take into account the classification of Elder Dragon. Jhen and Dahren Mohran would also be Leviathans technically. Personally, I feel like Leviathans and Snake wyverns should have been separated by their primary environment. Eg, Leviathans water and Snake wyverns land. This provides a clear enough destinction that hey, if you're fighting a leviathan, it's going to be in or around water. WHile with Balahara the only thing I can think of that says 'leviathan' (outside of body shape) is the fact it spits mud.
1:47 the first brand new monster shown for MH4 was actually Kecha Wacha. We saw tetsucabra, nerscylla and gore magala get revealed all before Najarala. Been about 11 years but I still remember the rollout like yesterday 😂
There's enough ways that a snake wyvern could be built when we're adding in wings that they wouldn't get stale if only they were used (4 legs like Najarala, 2 wings 2 legs like Remobra, 2 front legs like yours, 2 back legs, no legs, maybe even 2 front legs and 2 wings, or 2 front and 2 back wings if you want to get adventurous). Ultimately the more categories and species of monster to hunt the better. If I had to invent one I'd go with my last suggestion and make it 4 wings. The wing style would be similar to bats and it could use them to help crawl, slither, and climb, but it would mainly get around by flying. It would fling poisonous scales at you, but it's main problem would be that it's an ice element monster that's flying around frozen peaks while it fights you.
I think they need to use the body plan more, a Piscine Wyvern could easily be shaped like Najarala and still be fishy (or eel-like) I also don't mind it as a classification, either phylogenetic or as a hunting class. I guess snakes are distantly related to Mosasaurs and even Iguanas so any new ones could be classified as Fanged Wyverns and fit in with Jagras and such if the snake part is too specific. But either way more Snakes, even if they just ape Najarala's schtick in an HD game would be welcome to me.
Personally I find Najarala's design to be something that would make future snake wyverns harder to make. It has a lot going on and as such should make it difficult to design a snake wyvern that doesn't either share too many traits with Najarala or just seems like a Najarala with fewer traits. Though as you mention this is also do to Snake Wyvern being Snake Wyvern and not a class of monsters that are not so much bound to a real life animal. If snake wyverns were just wyverns without hind legs it would be easier to make designs with more diverse body forms then having them be actually snake like. My attempts would be: Gliding snake wyvern that lives in jungles and lays eggs in volcanic sand off the coast of a volcano. When hunting on the volcanic beach it nestles itself under the sand, which being so warm helps keep its temporal resolution high enough(it is heavily suggested that cold blooded animals perception of time changes based on their temperature) as it's its brooding grounds are colder then its normal jungle habitat. It is more viper like and delivers strong poison and sleep with its bite, can dig but only do so in sand not the jungle. It can also spit this venom that will disperse into clouds of toxins. Considering it mainly uses it's pit organs it is immune to flash and sonic bombs. Can do gliding dashes. Fire snake that lives in rocky desserts, produces smoky flames that for the sake of gameplay will be flavoured as being sulfuric and applying stench. It uses these flames to flush ground burrowing animals out of their tunnels/burrows. Has a grabber like structure on its tail made from modified scales like a rattle to scoop up prey that leave the other tunnel openings. It's hind legs have regressed into spurs, but can use it's front legs more than other snake wyverns to help dig up the unevacuated young of its prey. Is immune to stench bombs. . . . Examples of Najarala's features: Digs, is a constrictor. Has paralytic venom, can throw tail projectiles, has a move that guarantees a stun, and creates lingering obstacles on the ground. Has a rattle, visually looks heavily inspired by Southeast Asian dragons(not nearly as much as Dalamadur) as well as the Mbói Tu'ĩ, has a beak, has arm growths that resemble feathers, has back growths and a hood like structure. Lives is desserts, and jungles/temperate rain forests as well as marshes/swamps. Additionally has a subspecies that fills in some of the other design niches by: Using water element and has a spitting attack. Lives in the arctic and lives near/in water. What this leaves is: Non paralytic venom(barely counts), fire/dragon/non ground burst ice element, a stinger, gliding, living in the volcanoes. Ultimately both my snake wyverns only have one feature that Najarala does not and one modified Najarala traits. (The volcanic beach is only a modified trait, as it is still a water snake like Tidal.)
Tragic that we haven't gotten a new snake wyvern ever. I do thing there is a lot they could do with the serpentine bodyplan, and that is without infringing on the leviathan territory. There are a bunch of interesting things they could do with it, like takign a viper but replace the poison with something unusual like blast or sleep, or making one with metalic blade-like scales similarly to Seregios, or just a big ol' python. Also, since Remobra are considered snake wyverns it does imply that flying snake wyverns exist, which I would love to see. Imagine a typical flying wyvern, but with neck for days.
It's a shame that the snake wyvern are so constricted in what you can do with them and how you can have them fight in ways that feels different from Najarala, we have the world Serpant angle covered with dalamadur and laviente and Najarala coverd rattle snakes, so I think the ones to cover next would be a anaconda type which would cover the constricten angle, a seasnake if underwater returns, a cobra you could so something funky with the hood, a viper for something that's more posion based and mabye a flying snake of you want to get really put there but behond that I think your gonna struggle to make something truly different, I definitely think we need a desert snake wyvern tho so I really like your concept
Personally I wouldn’t mind a snake Wyvern that actively digs around rocky terrain using its tail as bait for other larger monsters like a spider tailed viper does. When it’s fought it could have most of its body buried inside the stone, with its torso and tail sticking out.
@Castersvarog that's very creative having one based of that spidertailed viper would be awesome, I personally love the thought of a cobra snake wyvern combined with a centipede so it can use it's body and hood to grapple you and other monsters

I’m still of the belief that Narjarala suffers from the same clipping issues as Lagi, and when we get one back, we’ll get both back. I’d imagine they just haven’t said anything cuz Narj unfortunately far less popular than Lagi…
Turtle monster!!!! Never realized how amazing this would be. Early game water element to inflict blight lesson learning, could definitely use sonic bombs as well to get it out of the shell. Weak to electric element and poison.
I would love to have more snake wyverns, but I have always thought that Najarala was too similar to leviathans in design. But an easy fix would be to limit snake wyverns to having only one pair of limbs max, instead of two.
I need more snakes! Honestly; I feel like the jump to new engines and hardware hurt our bugs and snakes the most. Hopefully we can keep expanding those monster groups, as I find them way more interesting to fight than your usual bird or flying wyvern.
Also the carapaceons, who haven't a distinct new base member in mainline since their introduction near twenty years ago, all three of which are the same 'hermit crab' theme. The snake wyverns really do need a tune up, the kind of treatment the fanged wyverns got in fifth gen; went from just Zinogre to a host of interesting species. They're do better with some new amphibians and temnocerans, but still pretty lacking for neopterans as well; a huge version of the mosquito critters would be a good start bringing them back. Black Flame is an interesting newcomer for a new skeleton, but some of the others aren't as distinct as they could be. Ajarakan is another primate, and a fire-type at that, while Uth Duna feels more like a toned down Namielle, in example.
I would say that the pirscine wyverns also deserve more love too because almost all of them feel and look to similar to one another. A lot of them are just cephadrome/plesioth clones, and barley any unique ones. Not even atleast a swordfish wyvern. Hell, I'd even take one based on pirahnas.
Ever simcey Sunbreak ended I was telling myself and friends that I've wanted to see Capcom handle a complex octopus monster that isn't like Yama or Narkakos (barely cephalopods in terms of movement) which I've been pleasantly surprised by with the lava area from the last trailer. And that specifically tells me that they REALLY want to be ambitious... Either this game will boldly feature more snake wyverns and bring back lagiacrus, or it's saving them for master rank.

The fact that Balahara isn't a snake wyvern feels wrong in so many layers that when I first learned it was a leviathan I almost thought it was a mistake. Also it's my personal opinion that Dalamadur is, in fact, a snake wyvern, but so large that it got lumped with elder dragons (maybe because of a gameplay reason, this thing can't possibly be affected by hunters' traps). The elder dragon class seems to be more like a status than actual phylogenetic classification, considering it also have leviathan-like monsters like Amatsu, the Morans or the god serpents, an ungulate-like monster, the Kirin (I'm a bit on the fence with this one, also, I didn't use fanged beast here, despite these being mammalian, because some small mammal-like monsters aren't classified as such), or even cephalopodes-like monsters, namely the Yamas, Nakarkos, and maybe the Black Flame...
@aaronkinganimations9495 To be fair, Gobul and Nibelsnarf don't really fit any other category, so, unless another class is made for those goobers, them being stout leviathans isn't that egreigous to me. Meanwhile Balahara is really snake-like, it looks like it even have some Najarala animations...
@@just_a_guy9688 If it's the case (I hope they don't do that, because they'll make their roster less diverse on a phylogenic base), then Remobra should return as a flying wyvern, or a wind drake.
Almudron feels like it shares a lot of dna with Snake Wyverns, whilst being a Leviathan, which is unusual as other traditional Levi's like Agnaktor, and Lagiacrus are missing.
Snake Wyverns have a very good chance of coming back; and Capcom basically created its own solution when it comes to bringing them back. and if not in the base game, then certainly in the expansion. i'm sure of that because, well, look up videos of the Medusa and the Island Encampment Purgener (the snake-like dragon of the Unmoored World). see how they move? THAT'S how i'm sure of the Snake Wyverns returning: DD2's snake-like monsters have rather advanced slithering animations; Balahara, as you saw, demonstrates that the MH team has fixed the issues they had with the Leviathan skeleton; and both the DD2 team and MH Wilds team are part of the same company, meaning they could borrow from each other. besides, it wouldn't be the first time they did that: DD1 Grigori's roar animation is identical to Kushala Daora's, and his flight animation is similar to pre-Iceborne Fatalis'. now, see the "quest clear" logo at 7:50? imagine the monster being huntable. this is what i'd do with it: it'll be either a Leviathan or Snake Wyvern (i could go either way), it'd live in the Scarlet Forest (i'll have to wait on what other maps we'll get for me to put it anywhere else), and it'd breathe fire. although considering what i'm referencing, that being the relationship between the Elephant and the Dragon according to Pliny the Elder, there has to be an Elephant monster, too. regardless, that'd make for quite the addition to the Leviathans/Snake Wyverns, no?
theres also almudron which is a snake too and...uuh the other one the sleep siren monster. but we dont talk about risebreak. I think the snake category has been replaced by leviathan.
I feel like that the new monster from wild Balahara could change to snake wyvern class instead of leviathan because some snakes live and move through the sand and the split jaw is snake like but I guess we have to wait in the future and see
we need more snake wyverns idk why they are dont call them "Long Leviathans" or just make some Leviathans other types of snake Wyverns there are MANY cool abilities that irl snakes have, the intimidating hood of cobras the spitting venom attacks of Spitting cobras the poisonous back spines/glands of the Japanese Tiger Keelback the Flying snakes ability to glide the quick burrowing or crawling movements of sidewinders So many cool attack potentials throwing scales from the head or tail, launching stabbing attacks with spike protrusions on the tail or head, spitting venom, using ambush and grapple attacks from camouflage or underground, using fast moving coiling/rolling/undulating/writhing/sidewinging attacks that seek to lacerate by slashing past/under/around the target with sharp scales like a flexible LIVING chainsaw, using a prehensile tail to grasp logs or boulders to use as weapons or crush into exploding shards, whipping its tail right past its head and grabbing the tail tip with its mouth so whips its entire body into a vertical spinning wheel that barrels forwards crushing things underneath grasping the ground with its mouth and tail tip, and slingshotting its mid body forwards If you think about it Glavenous COULD have been a snake monster since it has a focus more on using its tail rather than its legs to attack. People love chain maces so what if a snake monster had a large spike protrusion on the end of its tail that it smashed around? Also lets not forget 2 headed snakes and how awesome that could be
I think if najarala or snake wyverns at all ever return it will be here in wilds. Najarala itself feels very at home in the windward planes or scarlet forest honestly. And I sincerely doubt at this point they’re gonna waste time making the skeleton and animation work just for najarala alone. I think if we get najarala we’re getting (at least) one more snake wyvern as well.
Not solid evidence for my claim right here but balahara does give me hope. It’s a leviathan but it moves a lot like a snake wyvern albeit a super short one lol. He does have a similar benefit that almudron had being under the sand a lot but we’ll see if this ends up leading to a snake wyvern!
NEW GINGE VIDEO LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Dalamadur actually does eek out Raviente by a bit I would love some more snake wyverns too, and your lil mock up does look neat and is it feathered? Would be cool to see like a cobra like snake wyverns that uses its neck...flaps? like how malfestio used its wings to confuse the player
What about a copperhead based snake wyvern that stays in the tar pits, it uses large rough spikes on its back that are superheated to burn hunters as it digs through the ground, and while above ground it uses several bites and slams using its head to deliver fire damage to the surrounding areas, breaking off parts of the spikes and thinning them out, leaving small fire pits. Once the spikes are thinned enough it gets faster in the sand for a while until they’re rough from the sand again
Hear me out ..... Amphisbaena Or maybe a snake that frequent sheds it's poinsonous scales when it wades around, or leave 'copies' of itself(the moult) like Nibelsnarf does
Kinda hoping they'll retcon snake Wyverns out of existence, but in turn make new Leviathans and Flying Wyverns that fit their vibe anyway, to sort of make up for it.

It feels like the leviathans are given monsters that really shouldn't been given to them i.e. Uth duna, Gobul, Nibelsnarf, Balahara
@@nabuchodonosormcgalapatram6941or you can say that Snake wyverns are just longer leviathans.
@@just_a_guy9688 If it's the case (I hope they don't do that, because they'll make their roster less diverse on a phylogenic base), then Remobra should return as a flying wyvern, or a wind drake.
4:29 i'm gonna be that guy sorry, there's also the egyurasu in frontier, guanzorumu's flying wyvern minions!
Almudron feels like it shares a lot of dna with Snake Wyverns, whilst being a Leviathan, which is unusual as other traditional Levi's like Agnaktor, and Lagiacrus are missing.
What's funny is that I'm in the midst of getting a character of mine commissioned in Najarala gear while this video is going on.
Still only have one large snake wyvern 10 years later
I love najarala so much. If we dont get another snake wyvern in wilds i think i will lose all hope for their return
With how diverse wilds has been I’ll bet we could get a new snake wyvern either in master rank or the portable game that’s after wilds 🤔
theres also almudron which is a snake too and...uuh the other one the sleep siren monster.
but we dont talk about risebreak.
I think the snake category has been replaced by leviathan.
Bring back the snake wyverns, bring back underwater. Not every elder dragon HAS to be fought on land!!
Najarala looked amazing. But i have to say fighting it was probably repetitive because of his moves. Still fun monster.
I feel like that the new monster from wild Balahara could change to snake wyvern class instead of leviathan because some snakes live and move through the sand and the split jaw is snake like but I guess we have to wait in the future and see
the problem with najarala is that it sucks ass to fight
we need more snake wyverns idk why they are dont call them "Long Leviathans" or just make some Leviathans other types of snake Wyverns
there are MANY cool abilities that irl snakes have, the intimidating hood of cobras
the spitting venom attacks of Spitting cobras
the poisonous back spines/glands of the Japanese Tiger Keelback
the Flying snakes ability to glide
the quick burrowing or crawling movements of sidewinders
So many cool attack potentials
throwing scales from the head or tail,
launching stabbing attacks with spike protrusions on the tail or head,
spitting venom, using ambush and grapple attacks from camouflage or underground, using fast moving coiling/rolling/undulating/writhing/sidewinging attacks that seek to lacerate by slashing past/under/around the target with sharp scales like a flexible LIVING chainsaw,
using a prehensile tail to grasp logs or boulders to use as weapons or crush into exploding shards,
whipping its tail right past its head and grabbing the tail tip with its mouth so whips its entire body into a vertical spinning wheel that barrels forwards crushing things underneath
grasping the ground with its mouth and tail tip, and slingshotting its mid body forwards
If you think about it Glavenous COULD have been a snake monster since it has a focus more on using its tail rather than its legs to attack.
NEW GINGE VIDEO LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dalamadur actually does eek out Raviente by a bit
I would love some more snake wyverns too, and your lil mock up does look neat and is it feathered?
Would be cool to see like a cobra like snake wyverns that uses its neck...flaps? like how malfestio used its wings to confuse the player
can dalamadur be consider a snake wyvern or just an elder dragon
What about a copperhead based snake wyvern that stays in the tar pits, it uses large rough spikes on its back that are superheated to burn hunters as it digs through the ground, and while above ground it uses several bites and slams using its head to deliver fire damage to the surrounding areas, breaking off parts of the spikes and thinning them out, leaving small fire pits. Once the spikes are thinned enough it gets faster in the sand for a while until they’re rough from the sand again
snake wyverns had a the same skeleton issues that leviathan like lagia had
almudron has a body almost like najarala could have very well been a snake wyvern just for the length of the tail.
Hear me out: Tsuchinoko Snake Wyvern.
You’ve titled the video wrong it should be “The Sorry State of Snake Wyvern”
Love me some new PeakGinge content 🔥
Hear me out ..... Amphisbaena
Or maybe a snake that frequent sheds it's poinsonous scales when it wades around, or leave 'copies' of itself(the moult) like Nibelsnarf does
I love all the snake wyverns
i'm waiting for dalamadur to come back
I want a giant vigorwasp monster
PETITION FOR ICE SNAKE WYVERN APEX IN WILDS
I know it’s from pokemon but omg I can’t put my finger on the background song used in the into
Dark Cave theme, best theme 🙏
@ thank you kind sir:)
Wait... dalamadur isnt a snake wyvern? Huh????
Snake wyverns are basically just fantasy skinks on steroids right?
I want Najarala back.
yea no my mind doesn't compute snake wyverns. In my head they're the same as leviathans.
capcom bring back tetranadon NOW
GEN 6 DALAMADUR!!!
Early lmao
Also narjarala for wilds fr
Look najarala visually is cool but it's a lame fight
snek
Kinda hoping they'll retcon snake Wyverns out of existence, but in turn make new Leviathans and Flying Wyverns that fit their vibe anyway, to sort of make up for it.
