For Doshaguma, you can always bring out the fact that it gets so angry that it reopens old wounds (in this case, wounds that the player has previously inflicted). It was a really nice way to introduce the new mechanic and get players used to it.

6:04 Also fun fact, I remember going to Capcom Bar while it was still Capcom Bar, and I ordered the Furious Rajang, not being able to completely finish it, and they played the Quest Failed music.
15:23 last year during my trip in Japan we went to Monster Hunter Bar in Akihabara. One of us took the Goss Harag drink which was blue drink with some cotton candy "snow" over the glass. But once you put the cotton candy into the drink, it melted as cotton candy does AND the drink changed colour into RED. Just like the enraging Goss Harag. Other people with me weren't big Monster Hunter fans so they didn't get it but for me it was extremely cool. Absolutely brilliant drink concept.
Tzitzi-ya-ku, another funfact. It litters it's nests with reflective shells to give it a home field advantage if it has to fight there. Not alot of people end up knowing this since it's fairly likely to be killed before it ever makes it back there in the Coral Highlands.
I think that this kind of videos are a core element to the Monster Hunter community as a whole and I can't wait to see more. Many approach MH as a game were you don't really care about lore or the stuff that surrounds you, the hows and whys which I found extremely cool, stuff like that add more immersion when I play, enjoying the game even more! Thank you again Gaijin, seeing the premiere with you and everyone made me realize how cool this community really is, keep it up!
Hey give copper blangonga his credit, he is the FIRST subspecies across the whole series to appear in a different locale than the regular version and use different status/elements than regular blangonga (stun instead of ice and snowman) All other subspecies before that were purely color swaps with the same abilities and appearing in the same ecosystems. He’s a forgotten trendsetter 😂
I enjoy the more obscure, non-gameplay related fun facts that you've been giving more than I do the gameplay ones. Not that the gameplay ones are bad, and certainly great for people who don't know too much about the series as a whole, but the obscure stuff always amuses and/or fascinates me to learn about (:
Gammoth is my favorite monster in the series, nothing against the rest of the fated 4, but getting to the top of the snowy mountains and seeing this majestic behemoth, the size of which normally needs its own special map, is one of my favorite mh memories.
When the first time I saw Doshaguma and its name 闢獣, it reminded of a Chinese myth. Pangu, the primitive giant, with a mighty swing of his axe, split open the primordial chaos(not the Greek deity), seperating yin and yang, sky and earth. So goes the tale of 盤古(Pangu, the guy)開天闢地(splitting sky and earth), with 闢 being the same word used in Doshguma. Although the word 闢 means "to pioneer" or "reclamation", and has little to do with "splitting objects with tremendous force" in both Chinese and Japanese, Doshaguma's savage and brutish behavior really left that imagery in my mind.
It's interesting how Japanese players call Kut Ku as Sensei, here in Korea, Monster Hunter got popular with 5th gen, so a lot of Korean players call Anjanath "An-Seonseng" because he was basically World's first wall.
The 2 rajang quest was the one quest that made me think I'm a full-fledged hunter. I wear that rainbow color on my armor full of pride (no pun intended)
You forgot that Yian Kut Ku has a special day in Japan. It's on September 9. The Monster Hunter official twitter celebrated it once during the release of Monster Hunter Stories 2. Although I think people starts to forget about this special day...
Working graveyard and saved the first one for tonight and just finished it and this one premiered. Lets go. Loving it Gajin so happy to see you making things you love!
Good ol Sensei YKK! Started on MH1 and yes, he truly showed me the ropes. As always, thanks for a great video. Especially for the perspective and information. You are appreciated.
Holy moly i can tell you! I beat the double Rajang Quest :D And i can tell you, this is something i will never forget, especially the tiny arena you have to fight them lol
I just now learned about the Aknosom's Japanese name. I don't know a lot about the language, but I thought it's funny that the last part of its name - shirumu - is awfully similar to the German word 'Schirm', which means umbrella. Might be a coincidence, but it's fitting quite well. :D
I played Monster Hunter Freedom , and yea, the Scarred Yian Garuga was super memorable. I remember thinking, "What the hell is this crazy, black Kut-Ku?"
I had a dream that I was playing Wilds and fighting a Malfestio in the Forbidden Lands. In keeping with mysticism and shamanism, I will choose to interpret this dream as a divine premonition of things sure to come to pass.
Cool work again, hyped for part 3 Also "Archeopteryx" can be broken up to "Archeo" meaning Ancient and "Pteryx" which means wing I tend to hearing it being pronounced as "Arc-eop-terix
I'm up at 2:30AM, waiting for the drop of the new video. I don't know if it's because I'm trying to distract myself on election night, or if it's because I've been watching your videos for nearly 10 years. Either way, I love the content man. You're my go-to for anything MH related. (Edit: Why the heck to people not like Volvidon? It's easy and that armor literally carried me thru the MH3U high rank back in the day. I'd argue it's relatively fun to fight in general)
been a fan of yours since way back with the wii mh3! also was a fan of mh with the freedom unite on the psp! i love your content and thank you for your infomative videos! all the best. G
I did the double Rajang in MHFU. I was stubborn in this quest, and at the very least I wanted time out the quest. So I took out my lance, and turtled the whole time. To my surprise, one killed the other. I learn a lesson that day, and picked up a habit that annoys all the randos I hunt with. Lesson: When playing monkey in the middle, don't be the monkey in the middle. Habit: I always chase monsters into each other, and with the resent games lure them too. On my bad days I would yell at players who run when 2 monsters are in the same area. I've learned to play a real good healer because of this. Give my fellow players more courage to join the fight. Funny fact; switch ax was my weapon of choice for healing in Tri. From World and beyond, it's SnS. I'll heal mid combo, and it usually comes out faster than other people playing healing, which throws people off. Wide range, speed eating, and free meal FTW.
Interesting that you said that about copper Blango, when i found it to be one of the best monsters FU has to offer by a landslide, fun fight with some neat differences for a second gen subspecies.
I didn't think much of Blue Yian Kut Ku until I fought a level 140 frenzied blue kut ku in 4u. It had some attacks I'd never seen before, and we failed the quest. Pretty neat!
I don't need to take that Lagombi comment from you! I remember watching your double cross vids and you slaughtered the snow baron population! Keep up the good work. This content is making it easier to show my friends MH is not just a murder sim.
Hey man, just talked to Bulldrome and he’s glad you’re thinking of him. He’s been dealing with some personal stuff, nothing serious but he said he’s gonna reach out soon to catch up.
He is looking forward to running into you again :p

I stopped playing Monster Hunter around 2 years ago when someone stole my Switch (I was only playing MHSunbreak at that time) and I just gave up because I didn’t want to start all over again. I could, but it’s just not the same feeling, it won’t ever be the same character that I had 2 years ago, if that makes sense lol.I could grind for hours again, but I was very attached to my old save But I’m slowly getting back into it, I learned recently that this new Monster Hunter was coming soon and I’m hyped again! I really love this community, it really feels like home everytime I come back and see Monster Hunter videos.
Eyyyy!Kecha Wacha my favorite monster! And the first one I ever fought! I really hope it returns in Wilds he deserves it. Pretty sure he’s only been in 4/4U too…
In Freedom 2 i did the twin terrors with an Akantor bow. It was really easy as soon as i found out that Rajangs in MHF(U) can easily be evaded, by always going clockwise around them and wait for an opening. In Freedom Unite the akantor bow was nerfed, but knowing the trick makes it easy with the main weapon of choice.
Yeah, I did it with Ukanlos GS. By the time the second one arrives the first one is already or almost dead lol That weapon is mostrously strong. And yes, the old school Rajang, even in 4th Gen, has very "blocky" attacks and movement, so a small side step avoid pretty much everything it can do.
Kut-Ku's title just being kaichou (chairman, though It's a different Kanji 会長) is hilarious to me. And yeah, he was my sensei too (sure beat my ass in Freedom in the Old Jungle).
23:58 Ar-Key-Op-Ter-Ix, you're always doing the same for us with Japanese so it feels right to return the favor. The archae comes from the root word archaīos, meaning ancient, and the pteryx part of it's name means feather or wing, so basically Ancient Wing. Since it was basically the oldest "bird" in the way we have come to understand them, and exists as the root between therapod dinosaurs and more modern avians.
I really love this series, I played MH since the PS2 so it´s very nostalgic. The Twin Terrors Quest was indead the hardest quest at that moment, It took me several tries but I managed to completed. I would love to see a miniature of the armor models at a corner of the screen, dont need to talk about it or even explain anything about it, just as an aditional visual information, it would be nice =)
Yes I beat the OG F.Rajang arena quest back then. I believe i used either the Ankator Bow or the Silver Sol GL. But i do remember it being a pain in the ass alongside the Double Black Gravios Arena quest.
28:48 I was such a tryhard kid at school (broke one PSP), it murdered the hell out of me. That was one of the first monsters ever that looked exciting and made me look up to fighting it when I was ready. Playing MH on my PSP back then was peak satisfaction, especially that first time I beat the Rathalos while some girls were watching, haha.
My memory is kinda blurred (maybe cuz of the ptsd lol) but for the rajang quest, I know I beat the first one but I dont remember beating the second one. Probably ran out of supplies and couldn’t restock. Maybe one day I can boot up my psp and check lol.
I always will love Great Jaggi, first ever Monster to beat my ass when i started - but Great Maccao is the truly greatest of them. So unique and adorable. He also was the big early filter for Generations. If u werent up to the task he would relentlessly beat ur ass and play dodgeball with ur dead body. I love him with all my heart
Another "fun fact" about deadeye yian garuga is that for some reason despite being a deviant they are much smaller than the usual Yian Garuga, i only realized that recently when i was doing the dead-eye + standard garuga quest .
I think I beat the double Furious Rajang quest with Gaoren Cleaver and Terra Ceanataur armor, same with the "Monster Hunter" quest. Beating the first one before the 2nd one shows up was a real butt-clencher.
I 'member the Twin Terror quest, trying all sorts of things until finally getting a sleep bombing set to work using I think the Plesioth SnS at the time. You had to work quickly between the now rather jank movements (compared to modern) and trying to kill the first one before the second arrived or at least very close, because if you took too long the second one arrived and then it be near-impossible. I don't know how loud I yelled when I finally got it but I was riding that high for a while :D
They can be as unpopular as people want, but Great Wroggi and Iodrome (in that order) are tied for my third favorite large monster(s) in the entire franchise. I started my MonHun fan status in 3U, and in the end I was going all around with Wroggi X Gunner armor and the Great Kelbi Deershot abusing the heck out of that thing after adding Awakening and Bombardier to it. And while it didn't add anything useful to the weapon, when I wanted to play melee I was still running Wroggi X Blademaster armor with my Grimmest Noxwings or Spectral Demolishers (Status player for life).
I played the MHFU Double Rajang Quest in 2008 and couldnt beat it solo, had to call my neighbourhood friends to my house so we can beat em with me 😂 Crazy to think I've been playing monster hunter for this long, such a good series
@ThePontiac001 now you just sound and look stupid. Cause are you saying there are three different classifications for Mammalian type monsters, being Beast Wyverns(as stated in the title of the video), Fanged Wyverns and Fanged Beasts?
These are really neat. I kinda wish you would also mention which game they first appeared in but since you're already like, more than half way through, it might be a bit much to ask that now.
been playing monster hunter for many years. PS2,PSP, DS, Switch, Xbox lol. i remember getting my butt kicked by the Kut Ku back in the PS2 days. me and my brother taking turns lol. he felt like such a huge hurdle lol. oh man how much ive learned since then lol.
For Wilds we do have the Seikret as a new bird wyvern, albeit it's almost certainly not a creature we'll be able to hunt or fight. I'm pretty sure the Palamutes are Fanged Beasts, but like Seikret I suppose they are left out since you can't fight them (and they'd probably be considered small monsters even if you could).
interesting that there is a notion that the red bear is the strongest. i wonder if it refers to Akakabuto, the main enemy in the Manga Ginga Nagareboshi Gin? i was so hooked on that when i was younger.
I’m really enjoying these videos! I love the relaxing music, it creates such a cozy atmosphere. I’m curious though, is there a reason you excluded Apex Mizutsune and Apex Arzuros? In Rise the Apexes have their own entries in the monster list, so I feel they’re worth mentioning. Regardless, I’m excited for the next episodes of this series. Keep up the great work 👍
I was surprised the fun fact for Yian Garuga wasn't the notion that it's a crossbreed between Kut-Ku and Rathian. Though tbh I don't know if that's just a fan theory or if it's its official ecology.
Twin Terrors really live up with the quest name. Basically i need to finish the game, beating all the Fatalis trio before even having any sign of finishing it And i fcking miss Qurupeco and the chaos he brings with its singing shenanigans lmao
On skeletons All mammals pretty much have the same Skelton just parts are scaled differently or in some case just eliminated. One drastic example is giraffes have the same vertebrae count as we do.
I tried to introduce MH to my wife when rise came out. She was pumped until she saw the monster limping. I said we'll just capture it but she said what about the babies. Then she quit the game and came back to stardew valley.
My little brother plays MH Stories 2 and he LOVES Blue Yian Kut-Ku. His monster inventory is like half filled with hundreds of them. So it has at least 1 big fan 😂.
I feel that almost quitting after your first hunt because the games really will let you stab yourself in the face without stopping you. Though in my case it was a Kulu-Ya-Ku. Still can't say I really enjoy the gunlance much after the beating that bird gave me.
For Doshaguma, you can always bring out the fact that it gets so angry that it reopens old wounds (in this case, wounds that the player has previously inflicted). It was a really nice way to introduce the new mechanic and get players used to it.
Doesn't deviljho do that when he's enraged?
@@AxeMain I think so, it makes sense for it to work the same as Doshaguma if Deviljho returns in Wilds.
Doshaguma really surprised me by how fun the fight was. It looked so basic in previews. But hands on it was really fun
@@DDViking yeah at first I was like "it's just a bear" and then it switched to "damn, bear got hands"
More fun Facts for Gammoth:
->Gammoth's japanese name (Gamuuto) is a combination off the name of the Hindu deity, Ganesha, (the elephant headed god of of good luck; the patron of arts and sciences; and the deva of intellect and wisdom) and the genus name for mastodon, “mammut.”
->The God connection for Gammoth is however not just in the name: Gammoth's in-game nickname is the immovable mountain god and Gammoth armor and weapons description all talk how they were used by people that worshiped a Gammoth.
->Gammoth's master rank armor (reading from head to shoes) tells a bit of a short story how there used to be a tribe that worshipped a Gammoth, which eventually turned violent and un-alived all but two of the humans fighting.
->Gammoth's furr is such good protection against physicall damage that it's impossible for a tigrex to do any leathl damage to an adult gammoth.
->The snow on Gammoth's legs isn't there for defensive protection. Rather Gammoth secretes a liquid that turns it into hardened snow/ice and when she stomps fires it off as prejectiles. that's awesome!!!
Man, I haven't been entertained by something this well thought out in a while. I hope we get to see more, like Elder dragons or flying wyverns.
Hate to be that guy but 😅Slight correction, it's Blangonga, you left out an n between bla-n-gonga. A lot of people do this. Wonderful video as always.
I would really love Malfestio back in Wilds, mostly cause I think it's beautiful and want it tricks in a modern game.
I both agree and disagree vehemently. Yes, awesome design, but damn the status effects!
really enjoying watching this series in bursts between hunts, very fun idea!

23:58 Ar-Key-Op-Ter-Ix, you're always doing the same for us with Japanese so it feels right to return the favor. Great Series! Could you maybe add the elemental weakness of each monster and/or show their strongest attack? (As a refresher for mh wilds 🤓)
That double furious was nightmare fuel. I don't think i ever beat it, but i sure tried back in the day.

My memory is kinda blurred (maybe cuz of the ptsd lol) but for the rajang quest, I know I beat the first one but I dont remember beating the second one. Probably ran out of supplies and couldn’t restock. Maybe one day I can boot up my psp and check lol.
Could you do a bonus episode for the small monsters?
I always will love Great Jaggi, first ever Monster to beat my ass when i started - but Great Maccao is the truly greatest of them. So unique and adorable. He also was the big early filter for Generations. If u werent up to the task he would relentlessly beat ur ass and play dodgeball with ur dead body. I love him with all my heart
Thanks for the video, it is fun and informative! I love finding out the japanese names 😊
Ajarakan is almost an anagram to aka raajan (only missing the prolonger). Do you think that was done on purpose?
Great project! Cant really stand long video nowadays but i sat through this in one go. Probably cos I miss gaijin’s voice.
Small correction Gaijin!!! It's actually Blangonga (an N before each G) and not Blagonga (only one N, before the second G) as you have in the video!
I played the MHFU Double Rajang Quest in 2008 and couldnt beat it solo, had to call my neighbourhood friends to my house so we can beat em with me 😂 Crazy to think I've been playing monster hunter for this long, such a good series
Zinogre should have been between the Gen 3 'Bear' skeletons and Gamoth. He was the Portable 3rd Flagship
Zinogre is a fanged wyvern. Not a fanged beast
@ThePontiac001 now you just sound and look stupid.
Cause are you saying there are three different classifications for Mammalian type monsters, being Beast Wyverns(as stated in the title of the video), Fanged Wyverns and Fanged Beasts?
Honestly Great Wroggi is my favorite of the "dog" wyverns
Keep up the great work 👍
Can you add an extra episode for the endemic life and small monster please?
amazing as always!!! :D
Can't wait for part 3!
Once you've done all the main games' monsters I'd be interested in seeing you cover some of the spinoffs like Frontier
Goss Harag is probably my favourite fanged beast. It’s a shame it didn’t get a subspecies or variant.
You made me miss Qurupeco, I didn't even remember its existence
I was surprised the fun fact for Yian Garuga wasn't the notion that it's a crossbreed between Kut-Ku and Rathian. Though tbh I don't know if that's just a fan theory or if it's its official ecology.
It’s fan made that’s why ^^
@@gaijinhunter Makes sense, thanks!
Twin Terrors really live up with the quest name. Basically i need to finish the game, beating all the Fatalis trio before even having any sign of finishing it
And i fcking miss Qurupeco and the chaos he brings with its singing shenanigans lmao
On skeletons All mammals pretty much have the same Skelton just parts are scaled differently or in some case just eliminated. One drastic example is giraffes have the same vertebrae count as we do.
I agree, snow baron and Stone fist the cutest armor
Correct me if I’m wrong but was Purple Gypceros one of the first monsters to feature a stronger poison?
Tbf chatacabra seems to be more of a greatjagras type monster while kut ku is meant to be in a higher level like a pukei pukei
So it has at least 1 big fan 😂.
will u talk about risen with the elders, since u didnt talk about the rise apexes which are another like special sub category of mons
Love these videos
i love how i can learn japanese and learn facts about my favorite game T_T
I hope you know that I now associate this music to you. Thank you so much for all the content you made around monster hunter throughout the years!
Im enjoying the series, lots of memories. Did you know about the Yian Garuga mushroom glitch or cheat?
I feel that almost quitting after your first hunt because the games really will let you stab yourself in the face without stopping you. Though in my case it was a Kulu-Ya-Ku. Still can't say I really enjoy the gunlance much after the beating that bird gave me.
I did play the twin terror double rajang quest when I was like 8😂 you can imagine it didn’t go well at all but I love Rajang because of it
