“Legalise And Regulate!” Germany Becomes Biggest Country In EU To Decriminalise Cannabis

- Smoking cannabis is now legal for over 18s in Germany, after new laws for personal possession came into effect on Monday.
Adults can now collect 25 grams for recreational purposes, and the new law allows people to grow up to three plants on their own premises.
It follows a heated debate about the pros and cons of easier access to the drug.
TalkTV’s Rosie Wright discusses the story with former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley and journalist Clare Muldoon.

@@Chris-yj7sr yes, the interest in other drugs does not come from consuming one drug or another. I tried Cannabis and allot of other drugs but the first drug i took was alcohol and tobacco. But my generel interest in testing other substances did not come from let's say cannabis or alcohol, it is not the case that i thought "these drugs are not interesting anymore, i need to test other drugs" no i was just curious and wanted to know how they feel. No one takes other drugs because one drug is getting boring saying this is just bs. Humans in generel are interested if it comes to changing the state of the mind and are taking drugs since they existed. The only thing wich makes cannabis a gateway drug is that dealers sometimes sell other drugs too, but if you are not interested you would probably not buy them and if you are you would search someone who can get you those other drugs if your dealer did not have them. I can only speak for Germany but here every cannabis dealer i know sells ONLY cannabis so it is not like someone told me to take other drugs, i searched for them on my own, i was not even peer pressured into it because i was the first in my groups of friends who tested some other drugs, even cannabis was my decision because i asked someone from wich i knew he smoked it, he did never ask me.

`weed` helped my mum with pain, sleep & her appetite in the last yr of her 6yr battle against cancer. i was happy to go to prison to get it for her..
same in my family. doc recommended it even tho he wasn't allowed to do so... and it helped way better than all the pain pills...
It helps me every day I use it for chronic pain I've got a great quality of life compared to being normally bed bound without pain relief.. the help you gave your mum was priceless and only sorry it couldn't have helped her sooner. Cancer took my dad so fast I didn't have the chance to give it to him like you I would've been prepared to give my own freedom for my dad. But think my dad knew I would've I'm still advocating for cannabis to be like Germany... If i could legally grow, I'd stop drinking and general smoking altogether. It's because of drink I get bigger cravings for general smoking. In my country, holland, they are experimenting with cannabis farms with licences which seems to be a huge problem because rules are not really clear. Dealing cannabis is forbidden without permit. Also cannabis shops are only allowed to have a certain amount of cannabis. And at the house when the police pays a visit they can confiscate it. There was a women with kids in my neigborhood who had a cannabis plant in front of her window..she was evicted! So expect similar with german laws. All this has to do with a business that has lots money that is under the radar being brought under control of the state. In Germany we talk about a billion dollar industry.
In part of legalization they actually talked alot about holland, seing what went wrong and to not do the same thing. There will be cannabis clubs where they can grow fully legally and you can buy up to 50g of cannabis every month. Every adult is allowed to grow 3 plants in their home, carry around 25g in public etc.

It has been legal here in Canada for a few years now and originally I was against the legalization of it but it really hasn't been an issue . I would rather see some tax money generated from something people are doing anyway and it is far safer than buying it from a drug dealer .

These people who are pro alcohol and anti cannabis make me laugh. Their argument is usually down to taxes and legality. I stopped alcohol 36 years ago. I wasn't an alcoholic and never had a problem with alcohol but my mother is an alcoholic and when she was around the family and friends it was always very uncomfortable. I'm now 63 and I've smoked weed and hash socially since I was 15, I don't have any psychological issues. My three children, all in their 30s smoke socially without any problems. They are all in good relationships and all have reasonable jobs. But when alcohol comes into the evening people change.
Cannabis and alcohol are mind altering drugs. Please don't say smoking a joint leads to stronger drugs. That's like saying a glass of sherry with Sunday lunch will get granny onto the absynth for supper.

The Tories are keeping it illegal for the mass market because they have financial interests in the medical cannabis market. Theresa mays husband owns the biggest cannabis farm in Europe. I have been drug free for quite a few years now. I'm just not interested in it. However, if I took the notion for a joint or a line, I could have it delivered to my door in about half an hour. My point is, people that use drugs couldn't give a toss if it's legal or not. It is and always has been readily available. The war on drugs has been going on all through my life time (I'm 48) and I never had any issues getting what I needed. Stopping drugs is like trying to push water up a hill with your finger tips. It's not going to happen.

I smoke cannabis and I would never go near heroin or any other drug. I'm perfectly happy with cannabis. But not happy who I buy it off because it's been played with and bought from the black market. That's the problem.
