Decluttering is really a never-ending story! I've been decluttering (slow and steady) ever since I moved in with my husband almost 4 years ago. I finally feel like we're starting to reach our goal of having an overall airy home, if that makes sense. Even our storage areas are nice and airy now! But it still never ends, so decluttering videos are always good motivation to keep up the work.
I wholeheartedly agree. I have been decluttering slowly for four years also. Over time you just realize most of what you let go of you never actually needed anyway.
I recently cleaned out a bookcase and shelving unit, and it's nice having four shelves that are either empty or just have some empty colorful square baskets ready to put the next things in as soon as I have something to use them for. Having that space makes me feel free-er. Now I just have to get to those two rows of paperback books at the top, two deep, and see if I can eliminate some so they don't keep falling down.
Well good for you! I did the same thing, and I got rid of alot of things that I gave to a Thrift Store. My Mother and I also gave away alot of Old TV's and the like which was great. Just take it one day at a time, and you'll get there. The fact that you are trying is such a positive thing. 😊
I know what you mean. I did some major decluttering and it felt great when I sent it to the thrift store. It was stuff that I amost forgot existed and I found out to my surprise I had duplicates of stuff. I'm not a hoarder mind you, but there was so much stuff that I don't use or forgot I had.
Haha it definitely speeds up the proces :) I do think it only works when you can clearly see everything, otherwise I'll still take everything out first
You're always so complimentary of your boyfriend. I wonder if we will ever get to meet him. This was a motivating video. Although I did a huge whole-house declutter in 2017, I continue to do regular decluttering from time to time to stay on top of things. I have really never regretted letting go of anything I've decluttered so it was very cathartic and I am happy to keep it up.
That's amazing, great job! :) Also yes, he's a great guy :) I don't think he'll be on the channel haha, he really values his privacy (which I totally get). I do share the occasional picture of us together on Patreon though. :)
Hiya Vera, from Florida, USA, I love your inner dialogue about decluttering. That teaches you more than massive decluttering videos. Your thoughts resonate with me. Thank you for your honest transparent self, I have followed you for years and the messages always seem true to my heartstrings. Happy holidays! Elizabeth
My husband and I have been decluttering the whole year. Just this week my husband declutterred all his clothes, shoes and hats. He was beaming with pride for this is huge. ❤
I'm glad that you kept the mug, I have a similar issue with a mug that has sentimental meaning to me. I can still see it as it was even if no one else can.
I downsized from 1100 sq. ft. to 600 sq. ft. Condominium 6 yrs ago. So I definitely did some major decluttering. But like you, I go thru my place about every 4 months and am amazed at what I have to donate! Mostly clothing and kitchen items. I always feel lighter and happier afterward 😊
I grew up in a house with 11 rooms for 3 people. I told my dad we needed all these rooms because we do this in one room, that in another room, etc. He said, "But you can only be in one room at a time." Later he lived in a series of cabins, houseboats, and apartments, and in high school I lived with him in one of the apartments. That showed me what he had meant years ago, that I don't need more than a room or two. Another time in high school when I was still at the house, my cousin who's ten years older than me, moved to our state and came in a Volkswagen with what I thought were all her possessions. That showed me you don't need that much, and was what first inspired me to be a minimalist.
I’m at about the same place you are in my decluttering journey but it is so inspiring to me to see you take a fine tooth comb to release even more items that have stopped serving you well. Thank you for this video!!! I just loved it!! 🥰😍💓
Your home is so calm and beautiful! We tend to do a clothes declutter at the end of each season and a general house one twice a year. Always amazes me how much we remove and yet don’t seem to bring much in!
Minimalism has really helped me to get rid of extra stuff and be fussy about what I bring into my house now. My husband is also getting into it, although he likes to keep more sentimental items. At least he isn’t bringing in stuff because it could be ‘collectable ‘ anymore - yay. We are at a good place now, but need to periodically declutter like you showed here. Now I am motivated to do a bit before the new year.
Hi Vera, I’m sure you’ve seen these by now but they sell glass water bottles with an attached silicone sleeve to protect it from shattering. A friend got me one for my birthday and it has been so helpful.
I love working alongside you. My goal for 2024 is to continue decluttering my belongings and be mindful of what I bring in. Also,to keep encouraging my husband to work on his tools, collections and clothing. Thanks for all you do. Happy Holidays.
I have been subscribed to your channel for years now, and I just have to say that you are truly one of my favourite youtubers of all time. You truly have no idea how much your videos have helped soothe me in my darkest and most stressful of times. You really do have a gift, and I am so glad you decided to make a youtube channel to share it with the world. Much love to you 🙏💕
Having intrinsic value is key to self worth. Just because no one else can see what you are wearing its important to take care of yourself for 'you'. This shows that you actually care enough about yourself whether you are alone or not.
Vera, I just want to say I love the lighting in your video. Am a portrait artist, and now I can see light and shadows in your face. You’re a warm, lovely human being and now I can see you better!
Yay for your P.S. about your dear mug! I love treasured items that show the marks of love and time, just like our own bodies. I think it’s a beautiful practice to cherish something as it changes. ❤
Silvrfishes are very difficult to get rid off completely!!But what helps a lot is lavanda...I put little bags of it in every place I have clothes, blankets etc. and even food and papers,books...❤😊
Good tip for clothes you’re not sure whether to keep or not. Reverse the hanger in the closet then at the end of the season you can easily see if you used it because you can see if the hanger is the “wrong” way round. If it’s the wrong way round you didn’t wear it so time to donate it
Wowsa, yes, your boyfriend's tidiness is impressive. My husband leaves a trail from the front door to wherever he lands. BUT, he deals with the gutters, plumbing issues, etc so it's all good. I've never noticed your ring. It's beautiful. Yes, glass is wonderful for many things but not travel water bottles. 😊 Wonderful that Dress for Success is in your area, too. Great organization.
For your little tea boxes, you could always store ponytails, rubber bands, bobby pins, tea bags, cotton balls, q-tips, toothpicks, nails, nuts & bolts, makeup products, or if there's something store bought that came in a plastic bag, that you don't want to store in the plastic bag anymore, you could always try storing them in your little wooden boxes! Maybe a small kitchen, bathroom, or hygiene item too, anything small that can be corralled, etc.! Love the decluttering video!
I'm so glad you kept the mug. I was thinking that no one else would ever know it was supposed to be the original darker color, and I actually liked the faded color better. Plus, it's from Japan. Plus, there are memories. So...keep. That's the way my thinking would go! Thanks for the video!
I like the paint colour you are thinking of getting for your bedroom! I just watched this to get me motivated this morning as I had a health scare recently so am reevaluating my life so this month of December I'm going to start a whole house decluttering.
@@SimpleHappyZen Aww thanks Vera! I'm just waiting on some test results so I'm okay for now, just a bit of anxiety waiting but that is to be expected. I'm sure all will be well ❤️
That’s really nice of you to donate those good quality items to a charity that will for sure find someone who needs them! 😊 It seems like many people tend to sell their good condition/quality items and only donate worn-out, undesirable things to charities and thrift stores, which doesn’t help anyone. An undergraduate college not far from us has a “career closet” that sounds similar to Dress for Success! They take professional attire donations and give them to students who can’t afford to buy them, so they can have nice clothing to wear to things like classes, interviews, internships, apprenticeships, and work. My partner and I have been going through our own wardrobes and setting aside things to donate to the career closet- as winter sets in here, I know they will definitely be able to find students who need warmer clothing. ❄️ Being generous and giving back to the community is always such a great thing! 😊
PS: You could use the wooden boxes for the guest bathroom to put knick-knacks in that you might need...like spare hair ties, bobby-pins, tampons etc.?! 😊
Thank you so much for inspiration. I was really dreading to do the whole house but I’m very inspired. Thank you also, I had huge realization this year is that the boxy cuts that are everywhere nowadays just don’t do me any favors. It was so nice to just say to myself: boxy cuts are not harmonious with your body, don’t buy it😃😃
Haha yes! Just because you see something everywhere doesn't mean it will always work for us :) Though I'm oftentimes still unsure about what DOES work for me haha. I'll figure it out one day
Hi Vera. Seeing how minimal you are. You still find things to declutter. I feel there's always something to get rid of. 1 in 1 out. Thank you for sharing.. Hugs.❤
Thanks Cathy Lynn! Yes as things change, you'll always find some things that need replacing or that stop being of value, even if they were important before. :) And the 1 in, 1 out thing is really helpful when it comes to our wardrobe I think :)
Hello Vera! I really like your content and admire your way of life. Your videos give me peace on this chaotic reality. Could you share some ideas of decor for those who want a simple, minimalist yet cozy home? Yours seems to be all of that 😊 thank you for your videos!
Aw thank you so much Daniela 🍵❤️ I actually do have an older video about decor tips while keeping your home simple and clutter free: th-cam.com/video/eJg83sOmAPE/w-d-xo.html and also a recent apartment tour video where I explained some simple decorating 'rules' I used for my current apartment: th-cam.com/video/nriYj52Lhh4/w-d-xo.html
I have a lot of decluttering to do, because we want to downsize in the next couple of years. I find all your videos useful, fun and informative including the decluttering ones. Thanks for doing them.
Big goals for 2024 on replacing old clothing and decluttering. Very small wardrobe so needs to be done with care. Books I think will always be in process, but it's a process I like as my needs and goals change for the bookshelf, and there are always easy options for selling and donating books. I have some grocery bags in the front hall, and I try to take donations out every time I go to work. Getting there! I need spaciousness in 2024 even in this tiny place, and I'm doing it.
Food-grade Diatomaceous earth - works great for silverfish, ants, and other pests. Those cute boxes are adorbs. You may not have office supplies to put in them, like staples or pushpins, but also can use as drawer organizers if you have that need.
Thanks! We're now using little cubes of cedar wood and they also seem to work very well. I haven't seen any of them in my yoga basket anymore for example. But we did some research and it seems like 95% of the homes here have them, so I don't think we'll ever completely get rid of them. It's also a matter of trying to live with seeing one every once in a while... But the cedar wood is working well I think :) Also the boxes, I thought of office supplies too but I don't really have them, but now we've started using them for tea bags :)
I just wanted to say hello Vera. I’m still here and I’m still watching. I have one thing I want to mention fyi. My bathroom has been painted green. When, if, I stand in front of my bathroom mirror to put on makeup or just to comb my hair, the green has a very slight reflection of green light on my hair. The sink is in a small enclosure and I rent so I can’t change it. So, what I’m trying to say is think carefully before putting green in every room.I’m so happy for you that you have your own place and you can do anything you want with it. You can make it your own.❤ Deborah Roper
Thank you so much Deborah, I really appreciate that you're here :) Also thanks for the tip about the green bathroom walls! I've actually been thinking these last couple of days, and I might actually go for a darker indigo blue for the toilet instead of green. And then dress it up with some art, shelvings and a little mirror :)
This was very helpful! Nice to know that other people are having the same thoughts about their possessions and how you choose to deal with the thought and the item. I personally have used “Buy nothing” groups a lot to give away items. It feels good to give things to people directly rather than dump at a donation center.
Thanks so much!!! And yes, that's amazing too. Always best to give things to someone directly, so you know it's going to be loved and used by someone else :) It's a great feeling!
I love that you have done your research already and plan to donate to dress for success. We have DFS in Australia too and they are such a great organisation. It is so much more satisfying donating good quality items to places you know for sure really need it, instead of just assuming it’s what they want and leaving the sorting to someone else. Thanks for sharing, I found this video really motivating❤🐧
Yes I've heard they're a larger international organization, that's so cool :) I agree, it makes me feel good knowing that there's a very large chance that these items will really help someone. :)
I feel like I've been inspired all throughout this year to declutter even more not just because it's good for me as a minimalist, but also because it'll be around summertime next year once I'm able to move out and get my apartment! I really enjoyed seeing your process, Vera! That, plus this video is just very calming and fun to watch. 😊❤
I’ve been decluttering over the past 2 months. Little by little. It’s such a nice feeling to get rid of unneeded and unwanted clutter. I really wanna go into the new year feeling calm and relaxed and grateful, rather than frazzled and stressed or overwhelmed. Today I got rid of 2 stuffies, a corduroy jacket and a tight fitting bra. I wanna declutter my reusable bags tomorrow 😊
I'm also in an in-between-phase with my closet atm. I have two kids now and still breastfeeding the baby. My body has changed sooo much over the last years and it is going to change once I'm back on track with my normal workout/movement routine. I also plan on getting a breast reduction next year. So right now, I hold on to most of my clothes until I know what my body will actually look like and what style of clothes will suit my lifestyle the most 😉
Hey. Vera😊Totally understand where you're coming from regarding home workout attire. I love working out from home for many reasons, a big one being not having to "get ready" to go work out. I started wearing nice leggings and tees for my home workouts that are comfortable and flattering replacing some shorts and sports bras that were not flattering at all. I work out in front of mirrors too 😮I look and feel so much better and most importantly I feel better about myself!❤
In the vein of treating yourself well, get yourself a set of Cuddleduds for under your clothes when it’s cold. You’ll look cute, and be so glad you have them.
Yr hse hv a zen vibe look neat n clean. Decluttering stuff is a good thing n can hv positive energy flow to make one happy n calm. Love the way you declutter in knowing what gives joy in keeping it....tks for sharing.
Love it, thank you. Inspiring and motivational. I’m watching you while I’m going through my sentimental/ reminiscing photos/cards/ items I’ve had most of my life. That’s a very long time. I thought it would be much more difficult than it is this time around. I’ve been putting it off and am not as emotional as I thought I have been when I looked through them. It triggers positive and negative emotions and memories, so the negative ones I will get rid of. They are negative for me, but they might not be for my grown children. I will decide which ones I will keep as I go along.❤️
Use those wooden boxes in the bathroom for qtips or cotton pads or your pens, and stationary, or print a few pictures and put on the box and make a small cute memory box for post it notes you can share with your spouse and it's sweet to send and put post it's in his pockets or lunch and save his he may make and make it a small memory box. The possibilities are endless for those cute boxes. ✌️ 💛 🇨🇦
I’ve been living in our new house for 6 months also. I planned on doing this too in January. This month I have hopes of getting my yarn nook room decluttered. Only planning on keeping what I need for selected projects….. no extras! Right now I feel I’ve lost control! In there! Starting today I am sorting through what’s there, section by section, and going to donate what I won’t need to a retirement community. .
I am a growing minimalist and I love your minimalism content. I have been benefited from focusing in on 2 to 3 tips at a time 🎉. Slow and steady is winning the race for me. Thank you Vera ❤.
Really love your decluttering content. I'm an experienced declutterer on my way to being a minimalist, but your take is always so thoughtful that I get extra motivation from these videos!
I love the story you told about how you buy cards from nice small business owners. I realized that I do that with candles and that is how I ended up with a candle closet. So I have stopped buying candles, but I like the idea of getting greeting cards instead.
I did a major declutter in the Summer and moved into a smaller space. I'm not sure if I want to go even smaller, but I'm pretty happy with what I have physically. I do love hearing about other parts of minimalism and still declutter some things here and there. Right now I'm really focused on the financial aspects.
And here I am, just moved into my great-great grandfather's house... I will have to start decluttering 120 years of my family's life in 2024! Including an antire garage filled with, well, the XX century, an unfinished brick house with old magazines, tires and furniture that my grandfather amassed, things left from 2 previous apartments... Maybe I can do it over a few years... Or maybe I'll just call professionals ;) Your voice was a nice calming touch when I packed and when I decluttered the first... well.. batches.
Wow! That sounds interesting, imagine what you will find. That is a hell of a job though to go through so much stuff. Maybe a museum would like some of it? Particulalry social history stuff such as newspaper clippings.
Thanks for the reminder! I got rid of some stuff (including old cosmetics), and put some cloths that I can't let go right away in 'remove later if I don't miss them' box :) usually things don't return from there, but sometimes it's just hard to make final decision without this step
Thanks for this video! It is encouraging to see how even you want to do a whole apartment declutter. I'm more of a 'relative minimalist' so we do have more things in general. However, I've been slowly going through closets, bookshelves, the kitchen, etc for another round of decluttering. It's going well but I don't think I will have a whole home declutter done by the end of the year!
Haha that's no problem, this definitely wasn't possible for me in the first couple of years either :) Taking things one step at a time works best. Also, I don't think the goal of minimalism is necessarily about ending up with as few items as possible, but rather a number that works for you. :) So feel free to do it your own way :)
Great job! I thought I was mostly done with decluttering, other than decluttering items here and there as I come upon them. But over the last 6 months or so, I went through most of my personal spaces and found SO much more stuff to declutter. It's crazy how you continue to accumulate stuff without realizing it.
I have the same project, here in Sicily.Deckuttering my whole house and usino wisely my time at home(i had a terribile car crash 3 weeeks ago). All ny best
Cool to see how you do this quick all over the house session. I did that 2 months ago after a few years of not really doing it. We moved into this house about 4,5 years ago, and when we moved, that was the last total declutter I did, I think. So 2 months ago I decluttered like 6 garbage bags worth of stuff (we live in a rural area with a big house and big garage). We still have to go through all the stuff in the garage but my husband and I are both really dreading that.😂 So many small leftover things from our renovations but it's really time to do it.
Haha I can totally see how one would be dreading that :) Maybe find a way to make starting the decluttering project more fun? Music, snacks, or a little something to celebrate when it's done? Just a thought :)
Greetings Vera, thanks for always keeping it real with our clutter. Clutter makes me anxious, but it is an ongoing task if you want to be successful. Your home is beautiful and your boyfriend sounds as great as my hubby. Great men are a rarity, so always count your lucky stars. We eloped to Niagara Falls nearly 25 years ago! Bright and beautiful blessings to you.
Love this! Thanks for sharing these tips! I do my wardrobe every winter/summer to make space for new clothes. It's so hard to let go of favourite items though.
Love this deep dive declutter video at your place! I've been planning to declutter as well, so timing is great. I enjoyed seeing more of your apartment. The space and surfaces look so clean. #apartmentgoals♥Would love to see what you do with the spare bathroom.
Aw thanks!!! :) So happy you enjoyed the video! We're now getting ready to start painting soon, we'll start with the storage/laundry room since we care about it the least hahaha, neither of us has ever painted a room (we've always rented and weren't really supposed to) so we need practice. Then I think we'll move on to the toilet space and lastly the bedroom :) Good luck with your own decluttering!
Love, love the video! Your content helped me so much over the past months. I decluttered 90% all of my make up, sold a lot of unused clothes et cetera. I feel literally relieved and so much lighter :)
Thanks for sharing! You are so far advanced in the minimalist lifestyle it’s inspiring! I’m working on it but am a bit overwhelmed at the moment! Fashion is my weakness so I’m confronting myself daily rn about it! The panic feeling of decluttering clothing is for me the concern that if I get rid of mediocre pieces then I might not be able to build the wardrobe I actually really want the most & end up with nothing much at all…so I keep settling for just ok…instead of leveling up! But I shall overcome! Lol
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Even though I don't really have many clothes, I do relate to your thinking. What really helps me is doing the 1 in, 1 out strategy. Replace the pieces that aren't working for me anymore, by a similar piece that DOES work for me. Maybe a similar item but in a better size, a better fit, a color that just works a bit better, etc. And then decluttering the old one. I find this works a lot better than trying to perfect your entire wardrobe in 1 go. Good luck!
@@SimpleHappyZen thanks for the advice! I think once I declutter I will be ok with that method… but rn it’s the decluttering that overwhelming! Like I literally still have a packed closet & a storage unit full of clothing!🫢
This was so helpful! I literally stopped the video here and there to declutter along with you! I appreciated your thoughts about decluttering clothes and shoes that are in really good shape but hardly ever worn, and that they could actually possibly be more useful to someone else. I love the idea of thinking of it as a way of giving to others.
We have been slowly decluttering in the four years we have been here and slowly heading towards it but it wasn’t til about a year ago that we really commit to it and had a name for it. We are still at the beginning of our journey and slowly but surely heading towards getting rid of stuff. It will be a year on the 5th this month and have gotten rid of sooo much stuff but we still have a lot to go. Between myself, my husband and 2 kids it’s a lot. Slowly decluttering has been working for us because we are able to make our peace with letting stuff go. Especially all the baby clothes we have been getting rid of. I’m only keeping gender neutral that are in good shape as we are trying to get a foster license and those are the most useful.
I am slowly decluttering our house. I want to do more intentional living and buying for the new year. I am getting into the mindset that less is more when it comes to materials ,
This might be my north star when it comes to decluttering 😊I have more stuff, but I´m moving in the direction of having a more peaceful home (aka less redundat stuff), so videos like this is good anchors in that proces 🙏
I loved this video so much, it's so calming and inspiring to watch after a hectic day at work. I have been decluttering since 2018., and I moved quite a lot in that period. Now I live in the smallest apartment ever and I need to continue the decluttering process. It's not an easy process for me because I adore pretty things like decor, but I'm trying to have one thing you said in your video on my mind, and that is to see pretty things like there are in the museum, not wanting to have them. It's not easy so thank you for videos like this one, and I wish you to stay so inspiring and calm :) Greetings from Croatia!
I really enjoyed this video! It's interesting to see that minimalists have the same decluttering obstacles as anyone else, such as keeping certain things that have never been used or that haven't been used in years. I like your frugal approach, which is basically a type of logical approach.
your partner is so neat, what a dream! i love being tidy but i live with my dad and god he is the messiest person ive ever met.... the way he expects others to clean up after him 😐 im going crazy!! hopefully one day ill move out and have a nice breathable living space like yours ❤ beautiful house
There are so many beginner decluttering videos, and very few for people who have already started or who are much further in the process. I'm looking for ways to go further and what the next steps are. My decluttering muscles are strong, lol, but I'm sure there are things that I'm holding onto that I could let go. I just need more guidance on how to move MORE towards minimalism. More videos for "advanced" declutterers would be great!! Thank you ❤
I use mouse sticky traps to get rid of silver fish, spiders and of course mice. And I change them out when they are full. I live in an old house. They work really well. Just another idea for you.
never put ur mugs in the dishwasher, always wash them by hand! I learned it the hard way but since I started washing them by hand my mugs never faded again :)
Thank you for taking along and the thought process behind it. I saw your Totorro....my oldest son's favorite when he was little. He's 34 now and I still have the VHS. I decided to keep my piano, only because my grand twins who are only 2 have found a fascination with it. Maybe they'll play it someday. Best wishes
This was so helpful & motivating Vera 😊 You're strong for decluttering the Ghibli sheet music (💚 Ghibli), but like you say, knowing someone else will really love the item does help.
I'm getting ready to start an intense decluttering of my home, so the timing of this video is perfect. Thank you! Also, I've never heard of silverfish before and now I'm intrigued. lol
So glad I came across your channel. Been watching your videos and found so much inspiration in my own journey towards minimalism and slow/intentional living. As well as cultivating a calm atmosphere in my home 🤍 I am curious about your simple cleaning routine for your home, if you have one, and what cleaning products do you use.
I just absolutely adore your spirit and your videos. I rarely comment but THANK YOU for sharing all of your wonderful input. Side note: I recently saw a video where you mentioned you were an ENFJ and I am too. I thought that was so cool. And thank you for your videos regarding HSP. I never even knew it was a thing until I watched your videos and have discovered that I am an HSP. It has helped me to understand myself and how to take care of myself so much more 💕✨
Really inspiring and enjoyable video. I tend to do some decluttering in the week between Christmas and New Year, but watching this video has really inspired me to do it tomorrow :-D - in fact it has made me want to do it now, but having just gone 8pm it isn't the best time lol Your point about having some old towels around is a good one, that is probably my one decluttering fail, as this year I needed some old towels and just didn't have any. But you can't always know what you'll need until you need it I guess :-)
Oh awesome, good luck with your own decluttering this last month of the year! :) And also yes, it was my bf who initially said we should keep some, and I think he was totally right. Also great to use when you want to wrap something temporarily, like when you're moving a tv or whatever. :)
Hi Vera! Loved this video (like all your videos haha). Here in Finland our main silverfish fighting system is to pour boiling water down sinks and floor drains. Saved my bathroom a couple years ago, never saw them again! (I was doing it like every two weeks or so)🎉
Love how you mentioned “valuing” yourself even with working out at home and no one sees you. You know. That counts! Way To Go!
I agree! Definitely something I'm trying to work on :)
Did you manage?
I am still working out in clothes with holes - and wear very old stuff on the sofa, too... 😅@@SimpleHappyZen

Lazy decluttering is my new default. 😂 Using my eyes instead of hands as much as possible, picking out things I love and letting go of the rest.
Haha it definitely speeds up the proces :) I do think it only works when you can clearly see everything, otherwise I'll still take everything out first

Elizabeth
Aw thank you so much Elizabeth for your kind words!! 🤗❤️💕 So happy you enjoyed the decluttering video, take care and have a wonderful weekend!!
Yes, the inner dialog is useful. It's one of those kinds of examples I never thought I'd want or other people would want until I saw it.
You are so kind 😊❤️
My husband and I have been decluttering the whole year. Just this week my husband declutterred all his clothes, shoes and hats. He was beaming with pride for this is huge. ❤
I'm glad that you kept the mug, I have a similar issue with a mug that has sentimental meaning to me. I can still see it as it was even if no one else can.
Hi, I’m so glad to have found your channel today. I’m in the process of decluttering and your video is so inspiring. Thank you so much!
So happy minimalism and decluttering are working out for you too :)
I’m at about the same place you are in my decluttering journey but it is so inspiring to me to see you take a fine tooth comb to release even more items that have stopped serving you well. Thank you for this video!!! I just loved it!! 🥰😍💓
So happy to hear you enjoyed the video! :) Have a wonderful weekend!
Your home is so calm and beautiful! We tend to do a clothes declutter at the end of each season and a general house one twice a year. Always amazes me how much we remove and yet don’t seem to bring much in!
Ah that sounds great!! :)
Thanks Nancy, wishing you all the best with your decluttering goals for 2024! Just keep going one step at a time :)
So true! Thanks William :)
I loved this about her video today too. I’ve been working on doing my hair nice and wearing real clothes just for me.
I am also glad you're keeping the mug! I think fading improved it. 😊
That's a lovely way of looking at it :) Kind of like wabi-sabi!
Silvrfishes are very difficult to get rid off completely!!But what helps a lot is lavanda...I put little bags of it in every place I have clothes, blankets etc. and even food and papers,books...❤😊
I like your greeting card idea to support small businesses 😊
Thanks :) I like to be intentional in that way :)
Good tip for clothes you’re not sure whether to keep or not. Reverse the hanger in the closet then at the end of the season you can easily see if you used it because you can see if the hanger is the “wrong” way round. If it’s the wrong way round you didn’t wear it so time to donate it
That's really good. I put hairbands on mine and after year if it still has the hairband on it gets declutterd
Very clever!! :)
O love your videos much, keep the wooden tea cup boxes they make your heart happy 😊
Lovely! Keep your silver fish in those boxes! JK! I have the same problem and I run screaming, daily! I love your process.
Thanks Francine! Also, so sorry to hear about your health scare! Are you all right? Take it easy, sending a hug your way
@@SimpleHappyZen Aww thanks Vera! I'm just waiting on some test results so I'm okay for now, just a bit of anxiety waiting but that is to be expected. I'm sure all will be well ❤️
Its been a few years since I did a declutter. Its definitely time to take another look at what I am hanging on to and WHY!
Oh yes that sounds very similar, love that!!! 🥰
I love when you talk minimalism. I recently decluttered my closet too, anything that was too big I donated… you look amazing ❤Vera
Awesome! Great job :) Have a lovely day!
I dont think ill ever stop. I really enjoy do it
Food-grade Diatomaceous earth - works great for silverfish, ants, and other pests.
It's always nice to see a real decluttering.❤
Great to hear! :)
Still decluttering.
Your videos are helpful and bring value.
In there! Starting today I am sorting through what’s there, section by section, and going to donate what I won’t need to a retirement community. .
That's awesome, slow and steady is the way to go! :) Good luck!
That's really cool, wishing you all the best with your financial goals next year!
Yes, definitely helpful to be as intentional as possible when it comes to these things :) Have a lovely day today!
@@SimpleHappyZen Absolutely. Thank you so much!
Wow living with another minimalist is awesome for you
I have the same project, here in Sicily.Deckuttering my whole house and usino wisely my time at home(i had a terribile car crash 3 weeeks ago). All ny best
Good luck with your decluttering!! 🤗❤️
Aw that's wonderful, congrats on reaching your 25th anniversary!! 💕🥰
Love this! Thanks for sharing these tips! I do my wardrobe every winter/summer to make space for new clothes. It's so hard to let go of favourite items though.
Wow you’ve been there 6 months already! Time flies 😂
Yes it went by so fast!!!
You might could find a way to hang the lids of the wooden boxes on the wall (or prop them on a table) they are very pretty😊
Awesome, so happy for you!! 🥰 Great job
Use the boxes for stationary or hair clips or tea bags.
I love and also use the 1 in 1 out rule!
I’m really enjoying these more vlog style videos. Love the lazy declutter idea!
Thank you so much!!! :)
I am slowly decluttering our house. I want to do more intentional living and buying for the new year. I am getting into the mindset that less is more when it comes to materials ,
You seem so thoughtful & considerate the way you're thinking of others (donating to charity & supporting store owners). 🥰❤️
Aw thanks :) I think it's important to try and think of others when you can :)
Best wishes
Multiple silverfish a day is a lot to me! But it happens 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️I did a mini declutter while watching this- thanks!
Your videos and soothing processes are the best!
Your boyfriend is awesome! My husband is coming around to the idea of living with less, but he has at least triple the amount of clothes I have. 😂
This was so helpful & motivating Vera 😊 You're strong for decluttering the Ghibli sheet music (💚 Ghibli), but like you say, knowing someone else will really love the item does help.
I'm getting ready to start an intense decluttering of my home, so the timing of this video is perfect. Thank you! Also, I've never heard of silverfish before and now I'm intrigued. lol
It's good to declutter we do this
So glad I came across your channel. Been watching your videos and found so much inspiration in my own journey towards minimalism and slow/intentional living. As well as cultivating a calm atmosphere in my home 🤍
I am curious about your simple cleaning routine for your home, if you have one, and what cleaning products do you use.
It has helped me to understand myself and how to take care of myself so much more 💕✨
I've been down to just the clothes I was wearing and a bank card while travelling. Super fun for a while. Now I'm ok with having a little more. Enjoy.
Really inspiring and enjoyable video. I tend to do some decluttering in the week between Christmas and New Year, but watching this video has really inspired me to do it tomorrow :-D - in fact it has made me want to do it now, but having just gone 8pm it isn't the best time lol
Your point about having some old towels around is a good one, that is probably my one decluttering fail, as this year I needed some old towels and just didn't have any.
Another inspiring achievement before the new year comes. ✨👏🏼
Hi Vera! Loved this video (like all your videos haha). Here in Finland our main silverfish fighting system is to pour boiling water down sinks and floor drains. Saved my bathroom a couple years ago, never saw them again! (I was doing it like every two weeks or so)🎉
I have a plan to let something go for don thank you for your help
Favorite videos of all time. As usual- thank you Vera! ❤
Aw wow, thank you!! 🥰❤️
