The OM651 has been an absolute reliability disaster. They have a single roller timing chain in the back of the engine that breaks prematurely and ruins the engine. Id take the renault/nissan engine over that turd.
I hate the engineers who designed this, what a bunch of loonies. At this point for that car a timing belt change is a total loss. Theres a lot about a mile away from my house where late 2000's all models of MB go to die. What an environmental disaster! All these modern cars with planned obsolescence should be a federal crime.

The whole engine must be removed? Why? It's unacceptable that Mercedes even allowed a Renault motor. UNACCEPTABLE!! And they know what a big job it is yet they use a belt that requires replacing. A German engine would not have been so poorly designed. How Mercedes even used Renault is beyond me. Renault makes horrible engines.

The car is basically a Megan with Benz body running gear is Renault, When these first came out I connected Bosch KTS diagnostics and run a scan as a Megan and it scanned the full car for faults. this is the same for A, B, and small engined C class vehicles also the small Mercedes van is a Kangoo.
