I rode ragbrai in 2009. Aside from not from not having the time to adequately train. The week long ride was tough especially due to 3-4 hrs. of sleep nightly. Young people "mostly college age teams" nightly kept us awake with music and beer drinking after midnight. Frankly having some respect for others and quieting down by 9 pm should be a rule so people can get rest.
I'm so excited for you! We watched a lot of videos before doing it and it was really helpful. Biking is half the fun and half the battle. The other time you spend at camp or in town is just as exciting!!
Thanks for making the ragbrai videos! I am riding 2023 for the first time. I'm a flatlander too (kansas) and I'm very nervous as I have never done anything like this before. your videos really helped me understand what I'm in for :)
You're going to have a blast! There are so many people (including us) walking especially in the first few days. You'll be amazed at how much better you get at riding the hills during the week! It's amazing!!
Hi ladies! I loved every single one of your ragbrai 2022 videos! I have a pedal-assist bike to jumpstart my fitness kick and was wondering if you noticed possibly some people shunning e-bike riders? I'd love to join this event using the bike that I already have but am afraid of the scrutiny that could come from some of the hard-core road bikers. Lastly, are you ladies joining again for the 50th year anniversary?
The e-bikes blended right into the pack! It had a few double takes trying to decide if someone was riding an e-bike or not. Plus it really isn’t a race so there is no right way to do RAGBRAI! I would however consider a charter or investigate how to charge the battery. Not sure if we’ll be out there for the 50th just yet but it sure sounds like a blast!
In my book , all bikes are good bikes and more bikes on the road, less cars making life difficult for bikes plus burn fat not fuel. There is a video of a couple who did RAGBRAI this year and the wife was on a e-bike. See you next year.
I have an ebike, I went last year, lots of ebike there, all having fun. Do not worry about others. Go this year, have fun. Costs more then you might think. We blew 5k , to get there, hotels, gas, food. Oh well, have fun
Friend. Don’t worry about what hard core road bikers think of your e bike. Ride your own ride. I have an EBike and I love it. Riders have ask me about it and most are just jealous so ride your ride your way.

Wow…SUPER helpful. I’m prepping for 2023 and found your insights to be fantastic. Thank you.

I loved this Q&A! Thanks. It was just like we were seated at the table with you enjoying a glass of wine.
I should’ve told everyone to grab a glass before starting!
This was great conversation, and I appreciate the helpful info - thank you. I'm registered & looking forward to RAGBRAI '23.
YES! I'm so excited that you're signed up for next year. It's going to be awesome!!

Great video. All of you riders who made videos have made me proud to be a transplanted Hoosier that lives in Iowa.
There are a lot of similarities! Iowa was very impressive!!
Laura; my nephew and I are going to ride next year. You can join us. This will be his first ride. I road 18 years ago for 3 days.
How fun!! It’ll be a great experience to share! If we’re there next year we will need to figure out how to meet up!
What was the total cost ?

We spent a total of $1,540 for 2 people.

@@oldnslowpopi you certainly can spend more and it didn’t include any gear, but over $500 just on food 😅

Hard to Fallow .Talking about other things than Break down the cost?
