I made it into your video at 41:24!!! First time doing RAGBRI was awesome doing it with the Air Force Cycling Team and with some 20,000 of your closest friends on bikes 😎
Great video, and what a crazy ending, but happy everything ended up working out for you both. Sorry for your loss as well. Bummed we missed being there to meet and ride, hopefully at a future adventure we will meet. Thanks for sharing such a good video.
I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I have loved your videos of Ragbrai and I did subscribe to your channel to see more of your adventures. Your videos are so well done.
He did briefly but the chain broke and it still would have required labor hours and honestly, we just didn't want to put more money into the bike. We're planning to be back at RAGBRAI 2025 to finish the whole route! :)
The two of you are amazing, I've watched so many videos of this ride and you did the one thing many haven't, film a gorgeous b-roll that shows just how beautiful Iowa is, I know it's due to a bike issue but well done! Sara very sorry to hear of your loss. My cousin and I are talking of doing this in 2025!!
Thanks so much!! 😊 Chris carried our big Sony camera on his bike for the ENTIRE ride just so we could have pretty b-roll. He's incredibly dedicated to the art. lol If you do RAGBRAI in 2025 you have to let us know!! We're planning on being back for RAGBRAI then and would love to finally meet in person. 😃
Welcome to Iowa. Came for your RAGBRAI coverage. Stayed for your other adventures. AE Dairy chocolate milk is the best. Egg on a stick is a staple for the Iowa State Fair. Next year, if you can't for RAGBRAI come for the Iowa State Fair August 7-17. It is another experience with Iowa Nice, clean farm animals, and amazing fried food on a stick.
Thanks for following along! 😃 We're planning to be back for RAGBRAI 2025 and we'll see if we can stay a bit longer to go to the state fair, too! We heard people talking about it and it sounded so fun!
Great video! I hope you can do RAGBRAI again to experience a different route, more local pies and get to ride the whole way together with intact bikes (and _maybe_ fewer hills?). I recommend a team of 2-3 couples and someone’s retired mom & dad driving a “support” van to share the experience & take care of logistics. Or if you know anyone with a small RV, they’re great support vehicles as they provide: morning coffee, a few hours or even minutes of beautiful AC, and best of all: a shower. 🚿 😂 And lastly, I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
Thanks, Jeff ❤️ And I love you suggestion about having someone drive support. My parents have a camper and we've already asked if they'd like to drive for us next year! 👍🏼
I saw that Thelma's stand at Casey's and didn't realize there were free ice cream sandwiches there! Lol, i guess you never can do everything on RAGBRAI. And i was so tired at the Amish school stop, i was too busy downing a Gatorade to film. Great video guys, i subscribed to see your other adventures!
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! It really is impossible to do everything on RAGBRAI! I feel like we only scratched the surface. 😂 Hope we cross paths at RAGBRAI 2025!
This was my first RAGBRAI, and I enjoyed seeing the ride from a different perspective. There was a lot of "Oh, I was there" or "I remember that" as I watched your video. For me, Day 5 was the hardest. Fortunately, I didnt have any mechanical issues that day, but there was a nasty headwind that was a real killer. I might have missed it, but what did Chris do for a replacement bike for Day 7? Rent one for a day in Mt. Pleasant and then return it in Burlington?
Hi there! I hope you loved RAGBRAI as much as we did! ❤️ Chris ended up skipping day 7 since it was a short ride. Instead he took our car and met me at the finish line. We're planning to be back for RAGBRAI next year and hopefully he can finish the route then!
Not pack so much! I packed electrolytes, bike tubes and CO cartridges, and too many clothes. Pretty much everything you could need is available at every stop every 10-20 miles along the route. Buy as you go vs. lugging along more than one extra of everything you'll need. I only needed one tube the entire route and I brought four... I have no idea why! lol Have so much fun on RAGBRAI when you make it there. It's even more fun in person!
WAIT!! WHAT???? You end up in Burlington?? I lived there for a while. SNAKE ALLEY!! Know that thing very well, it is right next to where I used to work.
I’m pretty sure it would have been a ton of fun to hang with you guys in this ride. If you ever make it to Oklahoma and want to go for a spin, look me up. Native Oklahoman, avid cyclist and sports pioneer🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃🏼♂️
Hi there! Oklahoma is one of the few states we haven't biked in yet, but hopefully we can soon. If you're at RAGBRAI next year we'd love to get to ride together one day. :)
@@chrisandsara I’m always up for a ride! RAGRAI is definitely a bucket list item for me. If you’re into history, Edmond, OK has the Cycle 66 tour that rolls through Route 66. We are building to the centennial in 2026. Should be an awesome celebration of the road that connected the US. I’m on the Edmond City Council Bicycle Committee and the planning has been in the works for years. It’s an early November ride which can be cold, warm or hot. You just never know about the Oklahoma weather. However, it will be a. Epic ride.
Ragbrai usually takes back county roads but that day from Atlantic to Winterset was on state road 92. For quite a while. It’s harder to close that completely down. Leaving before day light my favorite time to leave you will encounter auto traffic. I worked a food stand in greenfield spent 3 days there those people were amazing. Their homes were destroyed one lady was related to 3 of the 4 people who died. They put their lives on hold baked, on Monday I went to fareway grocery store the mass food pick up ice, bananas gator aid in full swing. The lemons for the lions club lemonade stand filled the back of a full size pick up truck.
Greenfield went above and beyond to welcome us. We were completely blown away by their hospitality after such a devastating disaster. They were the epitome of Iowa Nice.

You really captured RAGBRAI in your videos. It was great to watch and I am so sorry for your loss and struggles on the final days.

This was so good! So sorry for the loss of your friend Sarah. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks, Laura ❤
I am surprised mechanic didn’t suggest shortening chain and making bike a single speed for the rest of Ragbrai.
He did briefly but the chain broke and it still would have required labor hours and honestly, we just didn't want to put more money into the bike. We're planning to be back at RAGBRAI 2025 to finish the whole route! :)
AMAZING VIDEO. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.
We're planning to be there! Hope to see you then!! :)

Missed you all just by a bit on day 3. The college fund sign got me too. Nice family! Sorry about the crash.
No way! I hope you enjoyed RAGBRAI, too! :)

Thanks, y'all! You would love RAGBRAI! Maybe we can convince y'all to do it with us one year? We'll definitely be doing it again soon.

Those southern routes can be brutal. Lots of hills...
😅
very cool video!
Thanks for watching!! :)
fun video. Ragbrai is on our list of rides to do in the next year or two. What did you learn that you would do differently next time?
Not pack so much! I packed electrolytes, bike tubes and CO cartridges, and too many clothes. Pretty much everything you could need is available at every stop every 10-20 miles along the route. Very nice job. SARA YOUR shirt is beautiful today
Thank you!! :)
My cousin normally rides Ragbrai, she did not this year, she did a bike ride through Nebraska and then went to Europe. And yes Iowa is hilly
I bet Nebraska was beautiful to ride, too! Southern Iowa is sooo hilly. 😅
WAIT!! WHAT???? You end up in Burlington?? I lived there for a while. SNAKE ALLEY!! Know that thing very well, it is right next to where I used to work.
😱 I didn't know you used to live there! YES, Snake Alley is a doozy! Burlington was a sweet town, too.
Settling for Scooter's Coffee while in the same parking lot as the McCafe is wild.
😂😂😂if you and Jerry had been there it would have 100% been a McDonald's morning!
I’m pretty sure it would have been a ton of fun to hang with you guys in this ride.

14:29 whoa, I took almost the same photo at the same time. I guess I was standing next to you guys while eating my ice cream.
Such a small world!! Hope you enjoyed RAGBRAI as much as we did!
😊
😊
She had to fix her own tire ?😮
And I did it! 👍😊
Chris needs to redeem himself next year. Casey gas station is a must stop in Iowa. Sorry about your friend.
Agreed! The plan is to go back for RAGBRAI 2025!
RHUBARB. IYKYK.
YES! iykyk!
