The Michter's Toasted Rye is so fantastically good! We killed our first bottle within a couple of days. We'd pay $200 all day long for it. Fortunately, we didn't have to....yet

Great video! Love this series. My personal valuation: Elijah Craig Toasted $40 ($13 more than small batch), Knob 15 $70 (I prefer store picks at a cheaper price), Makers 46 CS $65 (private selects can be better at the same price), Murray Club $70, Michters $80.
EC Toasted is supposed to be a full time piece of the offering like the Rye. So it will be allocated though. We didn't get any of the Rye in AZ though.

Just got my Bourbon Junkies Glencairn last night. Sweet, so I opened my 2017 bottle of Kentucky Owl Rye I've been saving... I wish. But it worked just swell with an ounce or 2 of Rare Breed
I still go out each week hoping a Michters toasted makes it here to Michigan. Might have to grab an EC toasted as a consolation prize. Had some Calumet 14 last weekend, now that bottle is tempting me.
Wow... I love Michter's Rye... But wow that secondary is insane. The first bottle I was like wow it was punching way above its weight. Became one of my favorites. However, I picked the bottles... up for around 45$ so I have a few laying around. But over 100$ not sure about that... It's kinda hard to say when you get it at apparent steal though.
Picked up the toasted rye for $45. Had it marked same as regular rye. It's good. Didn't like it half as much as their straight barrel proof rye but it's really good. Midwinter's was everywhere last year. I could get it for retail up until a couple of months ago. Maybe it just came east is greater quantities last year?
Been babysitting my EC Toasted Barrel cause it's so good. Trying to hunt down another one. Straight fat guy whiskey, delicious. Keep up the good work, awesome bottle flips.
I'm still chuckling at how I saw it for over three times retail at a liquor store. Call me crazy but that makes me reach for 1910 or Woodford Double Oaked all day.
I bought 3 bottles of the Michters here in NY for $175 each and that was a hookup from a friend in the business. Just the other day I walked into a store and they wanted $250 for it
I feel better now, I found a MTBR for $150 and pulled the trigger on it but wasn't too happy paying double retail, but good to know $150 isn't too outrageous. Of course the store owner made me buy a $30 bottle of organic gin with the rye to get it, but oh well, my lady likes gin.
@@BourbonJunkies Agreed, I wouldn't have done it but I've been hunting this bottle for years in the wild with no luck so had to do it. I had 1 other owner do this before but at least his rule was to just buy one other bottle of your choice with the limited release one. At least I got another bourbon out of it that way, but I'm not a gin guy.
I do love watching these, but i guess I'm not into hunting yet. Priciest bottle i have is Rare Breed. If it see its over $50, i start thinking is it REALLY gonna be twice as good as Old Forester 100/Wild Turkey 101/Buffalo Trace? Then I talk myself out of it. Its like buying a Volvo wagon for the AWD utility, when a Subaru Outback exists. Nothing wrong with Volvo, or great bourbon, I'm just cheap.
We've had 1 break, and it was our sagamore pick. The front point hit another bottle and chipped out a small hole. Other than that actually not broke anything other than corks
One of these days, Dan is going to bottle-flip some cheap-ass mediocre bourbon during a top 10 lineup and not break the cheapass bottle, but obliterate like 3 of your favorite, limited release, unicorn blood/unobtanium 15 year, god tier bottles behind you. I get soooo nervous.
@@BourbonJunkies they are I bit different with Double Oak being sweeter and less hot but considering how hard it is to find the Michters and what secondary is, Double Oak gives me the same vibe for less and on the shelf all day. Give it a comparison, curious if you feel the same.

What they don't tell you is every time Dan handles the bottles, there's are several layers of matts and cushions on the floor because of the 20+ takes he needs to do an actual bottle flip.

We will sadly never see a toasted here in Michigan, unless the store bought it somewhere and is reselling it

Side by siding Michters Toasted Rye and WR Double Oak and feel they are VERY similar. I'd save the $ and get Double Oak
