Soon to retire (God willing) NYPD officer. August will be 30 yrs in the dept. Started in South Bronx, and finishing in Brooklyn. I've never had an easy ride. To see cops in suburban CT start off making close to double that of a rookie working 4-12 in in any part of this city almost sickens me. I don't know how I did it.

A lot of your fellow officers high tailed it out of the city for Connecticut and Westchester where the job is much easier and the pay far more lucrative. Cops in these areas pretty much all pull six figures after OT in places where crime and the risk of being hurt on the job is almost non-existent.

Honestly, it looks weird for me when cops are coming with lights and sirens and people don't fully pull over and stop. Where I was born and lived most of my life so far except the past few years and where I live now even on the interstate when emergency services are responding everyone pulls over for a complete stop. Then they wait a bit before driving again.
