The 60's Batman Show/Movies' Catwoman was for the most part a straight up villain, Tim Burton's version of Catwoman was a misguided anti-hero, the Hallie Barry Catwoman, was just an individual who sort of want to be good but the influence from her cat-like powers also makes her more of a miss-Sticky-Claws than either a vigilante or a committed cat burglar, then you have Hathaway's Catwoman, who is a fully committed jewel thief, only to survive than really submit herself to true acts of Villainy, but at least she is not as morally screwed up as the Pfeifer Catwoman out for revenge. I think Anne Hathaway's Catwoman is in a way a slight combination of Pfeifer's version of Selena Kyle and Hallie Barry's Patience Phillips. I sometimes think that maybe Patience Philips changed her name and progressively turned into a career jewel thief, that could've been the explanation for Hathaway's Catwoman. I know two completely different skins and racial appearances, but I think she is a little closer to the Phillips state of mind than the Kyle state of mind. So it is a bit of a stretch both ways but, surly you have noticed the similarities of personality between "Catwoman" Catwoman and "The Dark Knight Rises" Catwoman. It is the personalities that you look for in DC characters rather than the looks: the Looks are second. I am also inclined to think that everything in the events of "Catwoman", Might've been happening in the same time as the post prologue events of "Batman Begins".
