Hi everyone, Alex and Clare here - the husband and wife director and producer duo behind ‘Blank Shores’. It's been a rollercoaster ride to our final release here on DUST, from creating the film around the birth of our daughter to post-production during COVID restrictions.
The film's themes of child loss and mental health mean a lot to us. We have witnessed the immense pain that some of our dear family and friends have experienced from the loss of their children. In addition, we have been impacted by people close to us dealing with challenging mental health. We wanted ‘Blank Shores’ to explore these themes within the sci-fi genre. We hope that the film connects with people, sparking conversation about these difficult and sometimes neglected issues.
It was so dark I couldn't see anything
This was very touching. Thank you for making it.
@@lisacalhoun5298Thank you for watching.
Beautifully simple and powerful, well done.
FWIW though the way it abruptly jumps from begin of credits to the other image and voiceover saying subscribe to dust is jarring. I'd rather have the credits roll
A powerful short film which quietly describes how confusing, complex and lonely loss can feel. The final scene moved me to tears. Letting go has to come at some point but with that comes the realisation that life will never be quite the same ever again. Beautiful writing, production and direction from a talented couple.
Great acting, very emotional. If you lose a child you are damaged for life. You carry on the best you can, mainly for those around you, those who need you. Eventually you move on, happy even. But life can never be the same. Now & again, when you least expect, the pain comes to remind you off your loss. Even 42 years later.
So sorry for your loss.
Beautiful, and touching. well done to all concerned. Having lost a young child 40 years ago, the wound is still bleeding. Thank you.
Nicely presented. The loss of a loved one no matter how old always leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled, yet we strive to go on, grasping and savoring the little remaining pieces of happiness as they fall into our lives. It is life...
Sometimes when couples are stuck and they can't effectively deal with their problems, they need a change if environment. Nicely done.
Yeah it looks like the VR was a way for the partner/dad to deal with the loss of their child. Hopefully now this will bring the couple closer together. They portrayed the emotions well .
Wonderful production. You move on when a child dies, but he is still with us. Even after thirty years. The grief is so vividly portrayed.
That was so good I didn't even notice it was 15 minutes. Very well done and great acting. I understand her pain as I lost my only Sister to cancer at age 32 and know what my mum went through and still goes through today 30 years later.
Powerful and moving. The loss felt by the main character was palpable. The effect on her relationship was subtly portrayed. The light sci-fi elements added an extra layer of depth and interest but remained firmly in the background. All round great production but Georgina Campbell definitely stole the show. Well done to all involved.
Well made. Sad story but with the hint of a happy ending.
Georgina Campbell is very talented actresses , love all her work..❤
I don't think I've ever seen her before but she was extraordinary in this film.
@@terratrodder Black Mirror, T.I.M., His Dark Materials, Electric Dreams, Blank Shores...and many other great films , she doesn't do cheap stuff , 😌❤
Absolutely gorgeous work from a talented team. Great narrative, acting, cinematography and direction. Looking forward to seeing what’s next from this crew!
Wow, just finished watching and really wanna watch it all over again. A powerful short film with some fantastic lighting and cinematography - superbly written and acted. Hope this one gets picked up.
I see Georgina Campbell has star billing. I've never heard of her myself but she is a great actress with a unique beauty. The whole cast was great. A sad story but well told. Good work!

But seriously, nicely done.
nice film
Powerfull.
Very nice!
A Very Interesting Short Video . . .:-)
Very nice.
I don't recognise Georgina Campbell but she is a talented actress. Immediately recognised James Farrar as Zack from EastEnders though
Hello DUST ❤, i'm from Vietnam
Damn!
This is crap.
That's what I thought first going in.
Not good sci-fi...but I watched it.
Then I found myself tearing up.
Yeah, I cried a bit.
Good story. Good job. Thanks.
A little too slow moving and ambient for my liking. Playing with ideas that, while profound, aren't entirely novel.
The visual artistry is great, I will give it that. Just not my cup of tea.
Such a thing to most extent already exists , it's called URB-597
Can’t wait till that Day I can hold you Again

Hi Georgina 😘🥰
Ok. good film. but why is he there with the kid if SHE'S the one who needs to let go?
The Multiverse
Substitute for actual suicide... kind of like a half measure.
Not really... The idea is a desperate person can find solace or closure or whatever emotional growth they need with the help of that VR technology, then come back to real life and better enjoy their life. That the protagonist/mother came back once proves that at least in principle, that technology indeed supports coming back, which is quite the opposite of suicide.
Still, using any physical or chemical technology to treat emotional trouble is typically fraught with risks, so whenever emotional growth can be achieved in less intrusive ways, that's likely less dangerous. In any case, this short nicely demonstrated which kind of emotional progress was needed in this case, including remembrance/acceptance/closure, communication, mutual emotional support, both courage and encouragement, forgiveness, empathy, and looking forward.
It would be so great if somebody made something that made sense.
It would be even better if people without the capacity to feel emotion/empathy or even a spec of kindness would stop themselves from making public comments that put their emptiness on full display. Your attempted insult has fallen and splashed the muck all over you. Very sad for you.
*Pam* {Tom's wife}
Apparently this takes place in the late 80s? No cell phones and physical photos!
I hate dark movies I might just as well be watching a black screen.
Sorry, I dozed off. Did I miss something?
Maybe your soul
No. Have you seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? It's like this but good.
Cruel comment
Mmmmkay 👁️👄👁️
girly stuff in a vaguely SF setting.
Weak writing, weak acting, the plot was the laziest possible ripoff of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Just lazy writing overall. That main actor has some potential, with better lines and direction.
Not good.
This boring cant watch
