- Just a few days following the launch of Affliction, the Valdo's Puzzle Box was added to Path of Exile as a rare drop, similar to Voidborn Reliquary Keys. These boxes can be opened to reveal a tier 17 map that has been designed by a supporter via the highest tier of the latest core supporter packs. The maps can contain all kinds of modifiers to make encounters found within difficult to downright impossible to complete, but if you can somehow make it to the finish line, you may just find yourself very handsomely rewarded for your efforts! This video takes a look at @CaptainLance9's Trickster build that he deisgned for the sole purpose of farming some of the most dangerous Valdo's maps in order to obtain their lucrative rewards.

League is fine. But having to do that one farming strat because it's so much better than anything else feels kinda "meh".
@@alxk3995 There are other viable strats, precisely because fewer people are doing it this league. For instance, Tainted Oils are selling for divines this league. Supply and demand - there's less supply, so you be the supply. Also it ensures you won't suffer withdrawal next league, cos we all know it isn't going to be as broken as this one. While Reddit rages about the loot in 3.24, you'll be enjoying the game as much or even more.
You don't have to. I felt the same way you do initially, until I had the epiphany that if everyone's doing the same MF strat, there will be other farming strats that are left undone, and will inflate ridiculously in price. 2 that I found so far are Essences (some Deafenings go for 12c, which are unheard of), and Maven's Writ (which is 2.5d, more than 2x the usual price). There are probably other unpopular strats that can be done to take advantage of the entire population going for the common strat if you're willing to look around.@@alxk3995
i still remember when Lance came up with his Herald stacking immortal build back in Delirium, few days before it exploded and became meta: had less than 30 subs on YT...

@@restarting9213 peuget has a lot of mistakes and flaws in his pobs, he for example dosnt even use the you get %evasion for int mastry and shit like that.
not even sure how he can play the same build 5 leagues in a row and still have bad pobs. his new pob dosnt even use wicked ward, dosnt even make sense.

Another layer of defense worth pointing out is Ghost Dance. So even after taking a massive hit, Ghost Dance can proc and instantly refill his ES.

Because it's not up for the worst case scenario. In this content, you always have to assume the worst case. Ghost dance allows to motivate several successive worst case scenarios, but it doesn't help in that initial hit. It's recovery, not mitigation.
@@Dunkelvieh there are multiple conditional layers of defense that add "while on full energy shield" that actually do add more mitigation. Having significantly more uptime of full ES does actually improve mitigation AND improves survivability. You are thoroughly incorrect.

Great breakdown. Valdo's puzzle boxes are peak engame chase content. It was the perfect addition.
Haven't seen many players talk about this but, the new maps with players doing the feared in them that are ghosted and stuff looks eerily similar like uber diablo(or ubert tristram) and that kinda went full circle with the ultimate arpg endgame.

Heartstopper is pretty bad just because it's inconsistent. However in that kind of map you are probably hit by all sorts of things so it becomes 100% effective. Also he has no other option for defence left other than this, because traps don't count as you so you can't leech es.

Do you have to have Mageblood & Kalandra's Touch to do most content or are those just an upgrade for the insane puzzlebox maps?
The mageblood is pretty much needed, it's a massive defensive layer and w/o it flasks would need to be solved via the traitor etc. and you'd lose investment elsewhere. Kalandra's touch isn't needed, it's just present in this build because it's way cheaper to mirror that ring than it would be to craft another one

Regarding Affliction: I'll finally be able to start playing the league after new year. Ive been a pob-warrior while on holiday, and ive got a build ready. I think people are sleeping on trans Dual Strike. You heard it here first

hope you have good luck farming up 100 div so you can have a build that can maybe farm a few divs and hour. This is the completely wrong league for a late start. Its a league purely for people that play POE for a living AKA the unemployed and streamers
@@SeelenverheizerWhy? I took heist and incursion for myself. Ignore wildwood mostly and heist is rather safe and profitable. Maybe less than it was but certainly not bad. And incursion temples are just getting more expencive for some reason got one with Doryani and wealth ov vaal and basically nothing else of note and awakened trade suggests selling it for div

How do you craft those gloves ? It takes 39 000 essence spam to match the suffixes. Must be another way, right?
essence spam until trap and mine damage / advanced traps, annul third suffix, suffix can't change, reforge chaos for chance to poison support (about 60%, the other 40% of time you get chaos res)

It will be evaded most of the time yes, but when you're dealing with character being voided/hardcore, you must deal in absolutes

Youd have to ask Lance, but I'd guess 5-10 mirrors

This has been so far the most ridiculous immortal build I've seen in the game, bar none. Not even the Immortal PF could match this.
if i have 90% fire res, and you pen 10% isent that 9% so 81% left?
It's not 10% of resistance that is penetrated, it's numerically 10% flat penetration, so 90-10=80%

You'd need to incorporate Inextricable Fate unique boots into the build to be able to inflict poison. This would be the workaround

The level of currency required to pull this off. I think alot of people could come up with something like this, but far from being able to pull it off ingame because every single item costs multiple mirrors to craft.
@@Zookaywrong, in this particular game, if you are smart enough to put together a build of this caliber in pob, you can 100% also farm the currency for it, farming currency is so much more easier than making and theory crafting an immortal build, ur talking nonsense, i farm multiple mirrors per league and i understand all the mechanics the build has, but aint no way i could think of putting them together like this from 0
@@bendover04 Not necessarily - this build is exploiting INT stacking into ES and phys taken as ELE
These are mechanics even newbies might be incorporating into their build - every Pathfinder build in PoE has a lightning coil + tri ele flasks at the moment.

I think it's per hit. Bladetrap does multiple hits per trap, multiple traps can ramp into millions i guess. It was designed to withstand atziri flameblasts while chilling in shaper beams, not to oneshot bosses
How to best level this, go trickster and level with traps or something better currently meta to push through acts?
I mean just level hollow palm, if you can't afford twink leveling this build ain't it

Easily! Without full ES & heartstopper it can tank 4 memory games, with it can tank 7
If you are checking on Pob 3 Hit Taken is 1 memory game as it is a 3 hit attack so if it says 12 Hit takens before death then it is indeed tanking 4 memory games. I'm making this build and is obviously nowhere near close Lance's but i have 19k ES and my gear would add up to 2 mirror in value but i can't tank memory game (sometimes can barely if it's a lucky roll but most of the time can't)@@dreamcore_gg

If you just want to play traps I'd recommend going with either explosive trap trickster it ice trap sabo. You could also theoretically go poison seismic trap but im not sure how well that's held up. This build is giga expensive and there isn't really a way to make it not.

Never understood the point of these builds. With hundreds of divine you better trivialize the entire game. Its like a hunter using a bazooka.

I would say 1 mirror per 1k es
I'm at 1k div invested and still have 10k less ES than this. Lance suggested in his build to try sunblast as a budget option, but I can't see anything less than 400 Divs being worth playing, and the cost is only going up as more people want to switch -- this build is pretty much exclusively designed to fight the feared with tough mods, and it does that pretty slowly.

What this guy is doing NOW I've been doing it for tha past three or four leagues, even using Born in the Shadows, from the Saboteur. Trickster is the best, for a defensive character.

very cool build but the way puzzle boxes and the league mechanic enable the super rich to become ultra omega rich is extremely nasty. GGG should not design the game for 24/7 game as work people. Also the inflation is off the charts. Everything other then a mageblood is double to 10 times the cost it usually has. I with my ol reliable middle tier strat of 6-8 div per hour am piss poor like i never have been in any league.

you sure about that? i think,around 70% oF items on trades are similar or slightly more expensive compared to last league.

This claim makes no sense. puzzle maps arent pushing loads of divines into the economy. Theyre pushing loads of t1-t0 uniques into the economy. this effectively means t1-t0 uniques are cheaper than normal, which is obvious if you look at stuff like a squire (2 div) ashes (1.3 div) etc.
Waste literal hours grinding in game. Spend 1 hour at work and its over 14 divine. Dont pet people that say they farm 10 div an hour when its rmt. Like my friend who took 14 hours to clear canpaign. Then claimed to make a 60div despot axe just to hide the rmt.

I've found the opposite to be true, so many items that would normally be expensive are very cheap because the market is flooded. This has been by far the most fun league I've ever played, I normally struggle to get a mageblood but this league I have made over 1k divines just doing Tuna's juicing strat and flipping uniques...but it's not like good builds are inacessible I put a CF champ together for 7 divines earlier and it can blast T16s with ease. It can do the cemetery juicing strat no problem.
Puzzle box mtx needs to go core. It's like mario maker - not enough endgame content? Let players pay to create challenges for each other to overcome.
Defenses are pretty much useless in this game. You can have literally every defensive mechanic maxed out and youll still get popped instantly. And I do mean *every* and *maxed out*
