    Tyler, you are a good teacher! Which means you know your stuff (extremely well), you have a mission to share what you know and have learned, and just as important you know how and are willing to communicate that information in an easily understood way. Thank you, Sir!

    Hey Tyler. playing with a sidewinder this weekend and caught 2 trout on it before we limited out. We were pulling a little bass pattern Samo plug. Looks like the action works for jerk baits as well. Thanks for the Tip.

    Nice day on the water catching rainbows. I have a short video on how to rig a wiggle disc and another underwater video of the wiggle disc with a fly. They really put some action on that fly!

    Interesting side planar! I've only ever trolled wolly buggers.

    Always great content , I am learning a lot ...I've just begun using trolling flies , great presentation ! I tried using Procure bait wax with pretty good results . I lift the hackle and work the bait wax into the tube ... You might want to give it a try .

    Probably my favorite type of lure to troll for rainbows. If you're into tying I have a vid on my channel on how to make a wiggle tube. That's been effective for me as well.

    That fly looks a lot like my go to Orange Kekeda fly. Has put a lot of fish in my boat.

      Kekedas are, in my opinion, a superior trolling fly and I've used LOTS of different trolling flies at Roosevelt including Frisky Jenny's. :-)

    Love the video that you put out. I would like to ask you about your rod and reel for the sidewinder planer. What type of reel do you have on your fishing rod set up? Does it have a Depth Counter? How long is your fishing rod? What type of action does the rod have? Fast, Meduim, Slow? How long is the rod? Wha type of Fishing line are you using on the reel? Thank you!

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its an 8'6" Medium Action Shimano Convergence rod. Yes I use line counters on most of my trolling rods. Okuma and Daiwa mostly. I generally use 10 lb mono for my mainline

  • @shawnclements14
    @shawnclements14 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you use the line out of the front or back of the sidewinder to "clip in"?

  • @rogue109

    I don't know why, but every time you get a fish on and you are talking or looking the other way...I have to call it out loud. My wife thinks I'm crazy... :-)

    Why so fast (2+ mph)? Can it be trolled at a lower speed? It's kinda pushing it to pedal/paddle that speed... And what's the "leader" length from swivel bead behind the sidewinder to the lure? Asking for a friend ;-) (oh yeah, great info, as uisual!)

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      At the slower troll speeds the wiggle fins and planer boards don't create as much action thus the higher recommended troll speeds.
      Leader length is 4'.

    Trolling fast with a wiggle disc is my favorite way for trout also. Could you explain why you prefer mono over braid in your setup? Is there a specific brand of mono?

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer the stretch that mono gives. Helps to keep the fish pinned when running barbless hooks.

      For the fishfinder I use a 10 ah Dakota Lithium

    I don’t think you can use the fly with the trebble hook as a trailer and a single main hook. The regulation for Washington states that you can have a total of 3 hook points per line

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's legal. They regulate the number of hooks not the number of hook points.
      "Hook and line angling only. Barbed or barbless hooks may be used, and a hook may be single point, double, or treble, but not more than one line with up to three hooks per angler may be used."

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a dodger produces better but limits your troll speed. You can cover more water with a fly and wiggle fin
