UPDATE: Whilst testing this evening, I am having a couple of problems. The A7S III seems to now and then be freezing up, and won't turn off until I pull the battery out.
I've seen a few reports that 3rd party batteries can lead to operation issues and also the camera will run much hotter on this OS by default. I hope its a battery issue, please check the the high temp option and make sure its on
@@PhillipSkraba oh man I was hoping that's the fix, I've done a 3 hour feature in the morning and a quick insta car reel just now in the scorching hot sun in Jamaica and so far so good. I hope its nothing a system initialize can't fix. Try that option

Anyway great video, I was fortunate to know about the security feature for M1 Macs prior

Man you were too excited you typed AS7 III on the thumbnail.😁Also we have shutter lens protection "closes down when turned off" under the "Anti-dust function". Most people don't know it. I tried it and it's a massive plus to me when filming in the wild in humid, dusty, raining weather!

After v3.00 update for sony a7iv have the option to purchase custom gridlines. But how are custom gridlines installed and imported into c1-c4 (Png files) create them? Purchase/download? Is there a tutorial on how to do this because i cant find any method/instructions of/about installing custom gridlines. I feel custom gridlines will help with framing and work flow for certain social media apps, like 4:55:4 and 9:1616:9 while remaining in the full sensor 3:2 resolution Great content, love your work, very informative, dont stop !!!
I'm gonna hang back on this update. I was kind of hoping for User Luts and potentially Shutter Angle. I can continue to live without any of the other new stuff until I'm sure this update is solid or recalled/reissued.
I don't think they want to bring that to a hybrid camera, it's not a cine line, so they're refusing I think. The update is good, but FULL of bugs at the moment.
@@PhillipSkraba It's a shame though, as those two features would really complete the A7SIII. I don't really want the FX3 as I hate the pure touch screen menus and no EVF. The A7SIII has been an amazing night concert photography camera paired with the 135GM. Once its stable I will install and catch up. For now, I'll keep rolling.
I'm having this issue with my PC. The camera gets to the "Automatically Reset the Camera" portion, then connects and disconnects to the computer a few times, then simply shuts off. The system updated asks to 1. verify the camera and computer are connected (the are), 2. hit "reset camera" on the camera's screen (screen is black), and 3. hit the next button when verified. None of this works because the camera gets powered down. Like you said, there is ZERO help out there from Sony. Can't see any Sony driver for a PC out there, either.

I have an important question. Before the new update, when I changed the AF from the lens to the MF ( mode in the video mode ), "PEAK" appeared with the red color that I had previously determined, and again when I changed the focus from the lens to the AF mode, "PEAK" was turned off . But after the update, when I turn on "PEAK" and put the lens in automatic mode, "PEAK" remains and Don't be off . where is the problem from ?
That is odd. My peak is set to off unless I turn it on via a custom button. I have noticed some things have changed for me too. Getting to RAW photos had my head scratching lol.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I haven’t updated but I have a7s3 and A7iv. The A7iv has peaking in for both but a7s3 doesn’t it so frustrating. The peaking being on or off depending on AF or MF being trigger is such a good indicator to which one your currently using
On M2 MB Pro here. The update instructions said to put it in Recovery Mode. I didn't bother; just in case. All worked fine for me. Not sure why. Painless process this time!
The system software updater still closes after I put in my password. And the privacy setting is already on app store and identified developers. What am I doing wrong?

Good , I updated my Sony A1 to firmware 2.0 and it gave me a lot of problems. I just updated to the new version 2.1 and the problems are still the same. Do you have a solution? One of the main ones is that I don't have a connection to the mobile and I can't use anything from creators. Thank you.

ALL OF MY BATTERIES, INCLUDING OFFICIAL SONY Z BATTS, NOW HAVE THE UNABLE TO GUARANTEE SAFE OPERATION WARNING ! I had no issues with the a7siii v 3.0 firmware update on my M1 Macbook Pro, although I did have to update to interim 2.15 update before doing 3.0. However, I was unable to find the DCI 4K 24.00 fps until I realised you have to apply for a license for it using the Creators app. Unnecessarily complicated and I'm hoping an update comes to sort the battery issue soon.
The official ones too?!!! Okay, I need to try all my official ones, maybe the older ones are not up to date. I agree, hopefully a fix will come soon as mine froze this morning about 3 times again.
Anyone else burning through batteries after this update? I'm using all OEM Sony batteries and they seem to be draining 2-3x faster than prior to update.
I don't understand the confusion around this. Sony's firmware page lays out all the steps with the security settings on Apple silicon hardware. Patience and reading EVERY step will get everyone through this.

I do get it a lot, yes. I was born in London, lived there for 23 years. My parents are Polish, I’ve lived in Lodz, Poland 20 years now, so that’s basically my story when it comes to my English 🏴
Why is every creator just bypassing the timecode support. That's huge that's it just an update away from being supported. So far the only camera with timecode support was fx series. I get it yall don't use it but for us using multicam this is nice
Yeah, it's the same in 25fps, which we have to use due to our hz. 24 and 25 are for the film industry, 30 is for television and social media, 60 and 120 are for slow mo. That's basically how it looks.

I'm sure the 24fps is limited only to the 4K DCI. You can change your shutter to 48 but all other modes still record in 23.9 etc.

To be honest I have no idea, all the settings do go back to ZERO, all my settings work, however the camera does freeze a LOT.

Eye's tracking is not working as well as the prevuious firmware.
The target in the eye goes somtime out of focus with no reason...

Yes, my A7S3 is a bit melodramatic now after the update.

Mine work, I've connected to both apps and no problems with that. I only have problems with the camera freezing.

You have to download the Sony Camera Driver and install it onto your computer before you’re able to update the camera itself

It actually didn’t, no. It takes you to a point, but it doesn’t tell you that you need to go into recovery mode. I never had that problem before.

Well, I think a very small percentage of creators use timecode, I'm guessing not even 1%. I do agree though, it's great to have in the update!
