This is by far my most satisfying Tamiya I have built to date. Picked one up at my LHS last year that just sat there. Paid what amounts to about 400 quid for it. Great buggy. It might sound silly to some, but rare or not, I race mine.
Just from the video I was amazed at the punch it had,, I’ve never seen a TRF run.. that’s a bad ass buggy for sure. I bet it has great flight control at the track
Nice score, so hard to find & when you do there so expensive lol I wouldn’t sell the alloy chassis, at least leave it in the box. To me the alloy chassis is the better chassis, that’s part of the TRF 503 kit. Cheers
Apart from a few items, you actually get a ton of stuff. Wheels and tyres, motor and esc, body. That's all you're not getting compared to kits that are not high end. You don't need a base 540 or Tamiya ESC. I'm glad I didn't get to pay for tyres I didn't need or wheels I didn't want.
Thanks for another great video. Just picked my self up a Durga cant wait to get it out for a spin. Finally he's going to build the Egress. I was thinking you may have off loaded it. Question why don't you use that car park for the speed runs instead of the road? I think the prices of cars go up every time you do a video. Thanks again Glen for keeping the hobby alive.
I’m jealous Glenn , I’ve been looking for a TRF buggy, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Gotta build it and run though hopefully without any electronic failures.
I wonder how many people are sad you are building that kit vs. leaving it boxed. It is funny how the more expensive the kit is the less you get. Tamiya still gives you more than Associated does with their race kits. :)
@@TAMIYALegends I've been on the hunt for a Vintage Associated RC10, or the rerelease Classic in the box. I'm going to build it if I can find one for a decent price. Like you I'm sure, I'll appreciate the model more than looking at a box on the shelf.
While it's true that with AE's top of the line RC10B74 Team kit, you also don't get a motor, battery, ESC, servo, receiver, wheels, tires, body, or a pinion gear, it's also only 519.99 USD and it's available for purchase now. Most importantly, AE has won 9 IFMAR world championships - more than any other manufacturer. Yokomo has 5, Losi 4, Kyosho 2, and Tamiya has 0 IFMAR world championships. Thanks anyway Glenn! 😉 I'm sure I'll eventually get them... You should consider getting a M Chassis Kit. Not terribly Special in any way, but terrific FUN and very durable Bashers!! 😁
No tires & wheels are standard on other brands racing buggies as well I’m surprised at the no body though. When it comes to the Touring Cars no body makes sense because they all fit just about every chassis but 2 & 4wd buggy bodies kinda have a unique shape depending on the chassis & manufacturer kinda weird it doesn’t come with a shell. Definitely do a chassis protector on the Carbon chassis and don’t forget to seal the edges with CA I usually use the Team Associated universal clear chassis protector sheet 🍺😎👍🏽
@@TAMIYALegends I think I'm wrong though. I have ordered wheels come to think of it. If you are going to run the pin drive style in the back rather than 12mm hex, then you can use the 12mm rear hexes included in this kit on your Durga. I run 12mm hexes all around. You will need part number 54668 to do this as the included front hexes are the silly 10mm hexes.
lol i'll end this Gear Diff/ball Diff debate right now!!....It's always better to use Gear Diffs because the Gear Diffs are much more reliable in hard racing and imo easier to hit the sweet spot with Diff Oils! THE END!! haha!
It's a competition buggy. We use the weights to balance the rig depending on the track. If I'm on a track with lots of airtime, I run weights as it makes the rig fly more level. These are front weight biased without weights, and that's what you want for flat and high grip tracks. But other tracks needs different weight distribution and so on. If you run it for fun and on tarmac or the like, keep the weights out of it as it will be much more fun and tail happy. Look at ti this way. Why is an XV-01 so much more fun than a TT02 on gravel. It all has to do with how the weight is distributed.
