i agree with what someone else said: the question isn’t whether you can do work in it. the question is by how much does it improve (or even hurt) your actual “productivity”. now that’s really hard to measure, so it’s more of a feeling than anything else. the handful of times i’ve done work in my quest 3, i ABSOLUTELY ~felt~ more productive. i don’t do it more often because i don’t want to have to carry around another thing.
"There's almost nothing available for real work apps" - except for the vast library of compatible iPad apps. If you can get productive work done on an iPad, think of the Vision Pro as an arbitrary number of arbitrarily-sized iPads. And of course, the native software situation will improve rapidly.
Apple has tried - unsuccessfully - for years to market the iPad as an alternative to the computer as a productivity device. Now, lets be honest please: other than for writing docs in Word, or sending emails, or having Zoom calls, or easy tasks like that... do many professionals actually prefer their iPad over their Macbooks to get serious work done? iOS is less capable and flexible than MacOS when it comes to work, so why choose an - uncomfortable and expensive - iOS device with very limited battery life when you need to get actual work done? Why not just grab your Macbool? It seems like a solution searching for a problem...
You made a magnification at 6:37 to show the writings. Did you do this with vision pro? Is there such a feature? Can it bring the world you perceive closer?
The single biggest hurdle that Apple needs to convince me of is simple; can I be more productive than I already am by more than 10% to make the AVP worth my while.
@@JerrySchulze that’s what I was expecting to hear. As much as I’d like to be working with the AVP, it’s not quite justifiable for what I’d use it for. Thank you for the review!
I'd argue that any productivity gains the AVP offers won't be from dropping multiple windows all over the dang place. More windows = more distraction and context switching. This is the myth of multitasking.
Is Pages available on the Vision Pro without needing a Mac or MacBook with it? I do a lot of writing and Pages is the app that I use, but I can't find any videos or information about whether Pages is available for Vision Pro or if I can use it without needing my MacBook too.
Would be nice to be able to use this as big screens for when you want to work remotely / in the passenger seat. Has anyone tried it? Does it make you nauseous?
Seems like the major benefit/advantage to traditional setups is portability, but it’s seems like it’s still more productive to use a Mac and iPad solution than this.
every app for ipad is available for vision pro. thats tens of thousands. they include apps for productivity. (you were incorrect about shortage of apps) can you do a part 2 and revisit to show us. thanks!
At the moment, most people aren’t ready to use this product to its full potential. But just like remote work and gig work became easier to achieve and more popular over time, so too may this style of work over the next 20 years.
8:30 damn right!!! I dont get this "multi window setup" narrative. It seems to me like a cool tech solution searching for a problem. From a productivity point of view, how is this better than simply plugging your macbook to a 49" ultra wide monitor with all your work windows open simultaneously?
@@scottmartin5492 this is a conversation about productivity, not portability. Lets be realistic, please: nobody goes to Starbucks for a mega session of work, specially if you have tons of noise around you and 2 hours max of battery life (Vision Pro). People do their productivity sessions at their work desk, where you dont have interruptions, external noise, battery limitations, etc. So I repeat my original question: when at your desk, how is plugin your macbook to a 49" ultra wide monitor not an easier, cleaner, more confortable and more economical solution?
@@scottmartin5492 again, 2 hour battery limitation, mobile-level apps instead of desktop-level software, iOS-like instead of MacOS operating system, soft fonts instead of monitor-sharp text, hand gestures instead of keyboard+mouse, etc. I REALLY dont see the productivity advantage of this device over traditional computing solutions. Hey Jerry, great video. For someone like me who only needs one big display so I can work away from my desk, would the AVP be a good "external monitor"? I don't care about pinning multiple windows or screens around. Just curious to see if the one main monitor is good.,
I also think that in the current state is hard to convince regular people to buy it for productivity. Have you compared using the Vision Pro against something like the xreal glasses? I do think the future of work is heading to the Idea of portable and immersive screens. Great content btw!
How does the keyboard and trackpad work with it? I don’t do a lot of computer work, but would like to use for other basic things. I haven’t seen one video using the wireless keyboard and trackpad.

The problem is the FOV. It makes it impractical. What I like about the APV PRO is that the Passthrough. What Apple went wrong is with the over-engineering and feature. For example, Apple should remove the eyes oled on the front it doesnt make sense, it just added weight. Who ever design the APV PRO really need to consider the USER Experience. I mean when you are using the vision pro you wont even see your own eyes, and during daylight its hard to see it. Also no one is going to see a weird discolored digital eyes and stare at it. I dont understand why they have to make it all aluminum for the internal housing. Some of those can be done using carbon fiber light plastic while not compromising the heat resistance and tolerance. all in all. FOV Sucks so bad.-2 Digital eyes on front was useless design. -2 Price -2 Weight distribution -2. 2/10 Product failed.
People that want this to be the future are lying to themselves. Why would normal people want one of these one? Two only a matter of time before these kinds of devices are littered with ads
You say that the vision pro won’t be productive, only for entertainment, but you don’t know that. As a matter of fact, a recent software update (Beta 1.1) for the vision pro has already improved a number of things in the product. This is just the first update of the software, think how much better it’s going to get, with more updates to come. Let’s not forget that this is a 1st generation product and therefore, the worst this product will ever be. Some time next year, a new model with more powerful hardware will come out, paired with much better and detailed software. If this 1st generation of the vision pro can be this impressive, which is not common with 1st generation products, think of what the next generation will be capable of and then the others that will follow there after. All in all, we haven’t seen nothing yet of the potential this new product line has to offer. Stay tuned.

Blurry text from the Mac connection? Mine looks very clear. Did you adjust the screen resolution in the Mac settings?
more soft, than blurry. Not as sharp as other AVP windows.

No it’s not a built in app. Maybe safari web version?
