    The i-cord cast-on is a super fun way to start your knitting with a well-rounded edge. It's actually quite easy to knit. Basically, you just have to knit an i-cord and pick up stitches from the edge - and that's already it. You can also knit it in one go but typically that messed up your gauge and creates elongated stitches. So it's not a technique for every project.

    I like the first method. It makes a nicer looking piece of fabric and the i-cord is more obviously there.

      I can only agree. I don't particularily like the second version either..but hey..it's not (always *chuckle*) about my likes :)

    THANK YOU! This is so much easier to understand. I have made i-cords, so this is a natural extension of that process! I appreciate it.

    I like the first method much better, casting on and knitting the i-cord on the larger needle, but thanks for showing many options.

    I just re-watched your i-cord bind off video and both of these are so very helpful! I don’t remember you talking about needle size in the bind off video, but do you recommend going up a needle size when doing an i-cord bind off as well? I’m thinking about adding one to the cuff of a color work tee I am making currently.

      yah..that icord bind-off video is somewhat old. heh..and would need a proper update. I just wrote it in a different reply. There is a new patreon exclusive episode on icords where I adress mos tof the common issues: www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-knit-i-71691338

      I recently did a video for my patreons on how to do a seamless icord - either in the round or all around a swatch.

    Thanks for your easy understanably video, it's helped me a lot. But to avoid that the fabric doesn't flare, would it help to do one "normal" i-cord stitch between every third/four "doublestich" in the same way as you recommended in the first alternative? I will try that for the next projekt I will use to start with a i-cord row :)

    • @nimbleneedlestwo
      @nimbleneedlestwo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it could. It pretty much depends a bit on your tension and your project. When in doubt, knit a swatch. that's what I always do!
