  • My new Altra Superior 4.5 got me to a 3rd place at a 10K trail race. My best result ever and the shoe has to take a lot of the credit - so it gets it's own video! Is it better than the Lone Peak?

These shoes are my current favorites. I agree that the short studs aren't good for serious mud but on a positive note, the shoes cope with roads as well as they do with not-too-demanding-trails. The 21 mil stack height feels minimalist compared to the majority of fashionable highly cushioned shoes that resemble military landing craft, and the foot shaped toe box is brilliant. All athletic shoes should have this desirable feature in my opinion.

Recently discovered your channel and I’ve been consuming quite a few of your vids lately. Love your work! Mostly because I’m also 6’6” 100 kilos in my mid 40’s, but also because the content is well produced, informative, and clever. Your foot size is fairly modest for a big guy though, isn’t it? Lucky for you, in that size range pretty much everything is available. I range 14-15 US, and all I buy are Altras, and I pretty much get what I get.
Love the content, keep it coming. Cheers!

I’m a hiker and backpacker. I’ve had the same problems with lone peaks. My heel slides sideways, the cushion collapses and I’ve staggered and almost fallen. I’ve done well with superiors and even better with king mt’s. For shorter hikes I like Merrell trail gloves and Xeros.

My Parkrun is a mixture of regular tarmac paths and across field which gets very muddy and slippery. I usually just run on roads with regular running shoes on other occasions. I was running today with someone who wore trail running shoes and he recommended getting some . I will check out the Running Hub, my local specialist where I bought my regular running trainers to see what is suitable

Hi, Mark. Really like your channel. I have the Superior 5 which are great but would you recommend other shoes for pure road running, I like the Altra shoes with zero drop and what else.
    Happy new year!

Wearing Superior 5's currently. They're the only running shoes I've found so far wide enough that some part of my foot isn't falling out of them. They do, however, get slippy on any surface that has the potential to be slippery, so I have to be careful just walking around in them.

Hi mate, I know its not related to your video, looking for some help. I was lead to believe the powerdot has a "smart recovery" feature that connects to strava? I've just got back from a 4 mile run and I don't see any option for "smart recovery" and I've not agreed on the app anywhere for it to connect to strava. Do you have any ideas? Cheers

Legs feel great today after using it. Which category do you use? "light recovery" "active recovery" etc..?
