    I think the core thing that you missed is that in order to gank somebody in a mission you need to be combat scanned. Often if you keep dscan at 1 au and pulse it regularly you’ll see combat probes coming. Once youve seen combat probes at 1au its time to ditch the site and assume they know where it is even if you leave.

    • @finneire1282

      Yeah, but be aware. There are combat sigs/anoms outside of highsec that you might end up hitting. Lots of people are out doing legit exploration but they are also the obvious ship option for a scout. Gated sites are definitely better though. That site is not safe. Doing all this doesn't make you safe - you're only safe for as long as your cloak holds - but they all give you a better chance of surviving. That's why I keep my dscan at long. I'd like to know if and when they're deployed rather than when they're on me. As long as you're spamming v (or your bound key) you're in better shape than the guy who doesn't.

      You can be found via d-scan without combat probes.

    I will leave this comment here for the newbros. Its not specific for marauders but certainly for all battleships. Learn about suspect baiting. When that pesky frigate (usually a Nergal, but it could be anything really) comes and steals your loot, or pesters you when you are in a mission...DO NOT SHOOT. He might be in a little (assault) frigate and you might be in a mighty battleship. He will very likely kill you and drink your salty tears. Dont be fooled. Usually i just try and have a chat with him/them. Very often they are happy to talk about how it works.
    Which is also a point worth emphasizing for the newbros. When someone does blow your ship up talk to them. You might learn a thing or two. EVE players show their affection by sending ordnance to others. :)

    I rat in my Kronos in null. Mostly havens, sanctums, and the like. It's rail fit so i can have some distance to work with in case a dread spawns. Null stuff to think about:
    1. Have friends. Your alliance, your corp, your fleet. Have friends that can come help if you get jumped. All of Loru's advice on d-scan is gold. However, you won't beat the logoffski. So you...
    2. fight aligned. You get to the site, drop your MTU, mark it, and align as you're doing that. I align to a POS. The forcefield doesn't care about your weapon timer, so if you beat the initial tackle you are safe.
    3. Learn the ebbs and flows of the region. Is it mostly EUTZ or US? Learn the enemies who come calling. They are actually pretty predictable. Usually the same folks, because everyone has a fave hunting ground.
    4. Probe down the anomalies. While you're logging in and watching local, get in that frig and probe down the local red bubbles. If you have a wormhole in system, consider ratting elsewhere, or maybe in a different ship. Also ask your friends if you can help roll the hole to remove it from the system.
    5. Be flexible. Null is bigger than you are. You don't fight against the ocean, you surf on it. If your system is hot, grab a warship and join fleet and show em the fastest way home. If you don't fancy ratting, see if there's juicy moon to mine or some data sites to do. There are MANY things to do. Go make tacticals. Can never have too many bookmarks!
    Listen to Loru. He knows things.

      If you don't, would you consider doing a hauling video and list a couple ship types you would recommend to the masses / fans. Freighter/ blockade runner and or a third option if you have one. Also any max ISK in this ship as well. I don't mind two trips if that is what it takes to keep what's mine.
      Thanks again.

    • @mikspurins1455
      @mikspurins1455 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@toddpatton1750 Hauling is relatively easy. Cloak and Insta-Dock bookmarks are your best friends. Either CovOps cloak or Cloak+MWD will work, but I'd suggest sticking to CovOps. Harder to mess up, thus more secure IMO. Blockade Runners immediately become a great option - cloak, decent holds, and a warp speed bonus. For lower skills and/or volumes - Astero/Stratios can do a decent enough job. Especially if you're only interested in moving the high isk density stuff.
      As for high volume/low value stuff that would take too many trips - there exists a nice solution called 'Courier Contracts'. Granted, it might not sound great for a mizer, paying to someone else to haul the stuff, but there are two big benefits. 1 - you aren't risking your own ship. Freighters are expensive. And get ganked rather often. 2 - the time you would have to spend flying your own freighter will probably net you more money if used elsewhere.
      If you're hell-bent on moving your own stuff anyway... Well, Cloak +500MWD Orca can pack a surprising amount of goods, has a reasonable tank, and moves quite a bit faster than a freighter. Still is a clunky bugger, and costs a pretty penny too - but it's an option I used for quite a while.

    Golem is the best marauder for hunting Trigs. High DPS, good application from point blank, no need to kite anything. I've been using Raven for krabbing in my C2 and Golem is just better in any way. But i doubt i'd bring to krab in C3/4 as i prefer to not lose ships. What is the advantage of a Marauder (Golem) over a faction battleship (Rattlesnake/Machariel)? I only run missions in hi-sec, and if I'm honest, running them in my Rattlesnake is the same as doing them on Easy Mode. Same for the Marauder. I trained up to lvl5 on Mauaders so I could fly one compentently, but after flying both for quite awhile, I just don't see the risk v. reward making me want to fly it that often. What am I not seeing/doing?

    • @merimac_1318
      @merimac_1318 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      primarly TANK and range + application of dmg. Golem will have better range and dmg application than rattlesnake, but most of the time a marauder can tank 10x (maby much but you get the point) the damage than faction battleships even.
      Golem is nice but personally prefer rail kronos, instant dmg application up to 250km so in range of any and all mission spawn area with 2.5k dps all t2 modules no bling

    • @lorumerthgaming
      @lorumerthgaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rattle's are incredible, and comparable to a Marauder.
      Marauder have more tank and more PVE application IMO. Cant go wrong with either!

    • @mikspurins1455
      @mikspurins1455 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Drone reliant ships have to either deal with drone travel time, or reduced DPS of sentries compared to heavies, making Drone boats much less optimal for lvl 4s. Gunships will do tad bit better than missile ships too, due to not having to manage exact number of salvoes so as not to waste ammo and time. Rattle, unfortunately, is both drone and missile ship...
      Put those things together, and note that Marauders get more Raw DPS without any bling - and you may start to see why people running missions tend to prefer them. It's all about time efficiency, so the less time spent on a mission, the more isk/h one can expect. Also - with current prices, Marauders aren't much more expensive than faction BS. The one thing that might hide the true potential of marauders might be the meta of using long-range sniper fits. Which by default have less DPS than their shorter-range counterparts.
      I personally have been having quite a bit of fun with a Blaster fit Kronos in lvl4s. Null with 2 tracking comps with optimal loaded will do better than Javelin at 50ish km range - which is around the max any NPC will orbit you. Heck, it will even hit approaching Frigs as close as 20km, sometimes closer, thanks to better tracking. And if you know your missions and know in which ones you can just load Void... ( ^w^)
      Granted, not all missions are suited for Short-range weaponry, and a few are definitely easier/faster with a sniper fit. Those that ARE suited for Blasters, however, can get done MUCH faster. Also - refitting at your missions hub for a specific mission is a pretty basic and effective tool at your disposal.
      The main concerns of using a short-range marauder would be safety and cap stability. Safety - because it's easier to gank someone potentially sitting on the warp in, to stay in weapons range of NPCs. And cap - because brawling will require more tank than sniping, which will use up much more energy. The latter isn't a large issue on marauders, due to their taking bonuses, but something to keep in mind nonetheless.
      And one more thing - not stacking your guns is another way to slightly improve your ammo/time efficiency. This is more efficient on a Marauder, due to a single weapon packing much more punch compared to regular/faction BS. While the ammo savings are generally negligible, the TIME, especially when blapping multiple smaller targets from a distance, can add up rather significantly. Less on short range weapons, due to higher RoF, and much more noticeably on slower weapon systems - especially Arty. Does require bit more management, but if you're looking to maximize your time efficiency - it can also be done with Sentry drones on Rattle/Domi/etc...

      A 425mm rail kronos i am rocking out of boredom.
      1500dps at reliable 100km range, fully t2 fit and if you want you can even solo minor trig systems since range controll and mjd makes you unaproachable for trigs. And 1500dps is i think more than rattle especially at 100km instant application range plut the damn thing costs slightly above a bil and with all the level 4 missions i swear to god i never once even had to use armor repper.
      The rail fit advantage over blaster is that rats closer they are the start orbit so hitting will become more difficult unless you use grappler. But at ranges 40++km they just straight up approach you and you delete them off the grid one by one. Did i mention i can still retain 800+dps at 200km range just in case?
      Plus the major benefit of the fit is the price. The only blingy thing is the battery other than that the only reason why you would be ganked is to cause you some grief as sure shit it not for profit.
