Wow! I've never heard of Simmons Refco. Very nice and rare bars. Congrats on adding them to your collection. Hope you can get the rarer cast type soon.
I'm just sitting here picturing Struck out hunting for vintage in the wild, all dressed in camo. Be very very quiet I'm hunting vintage Silver. Dig it! Cheers and happy Sunday Struck 🏆🍾✨️
I just found a one ounce bar at the LCS in the generic bid. Had no clue about them but it looked like a Johnson Matthey so I grabbed it. Great video thanks!
Thank you for watching my friend! Pretty sure I'm putting the Swiss Of America rounds in the GHB, so there will be yet another video with you talked about! Thank you for all you do in the community👍👍
Wow, very cool obscure bars done by Engelhard. Amazing...especially that you got it at basically generic pricing. Congrats! If I don't talk to you, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas my friend! Thank you for all the support you show this channel and others- you help keep us going! Just had my 4 year YT anniversary on the 13th- I keep it going and see if I can hit 5 years. 😊
WHOOOAAHHH That one on the right is AMAZING! I hope to run into some of these at my LCS one day. I have my generic going on sale soon and have some engelhards and other things you might want!
G'day Silver Struck, great pick ups on the rare Simmons Refco 10oz silver bars, I really envy the opportunities you have to source vintage silver from your LCS at bargain prices, these supply lines are simply not available here in Aussie land, thank you for sharing an enjoyable video and information about these bars. Cheers Peter J 😂👋🔥💪🇦🇺 🐨🦘👍
A lot of the vintage videos I create speak more to the US crowd in terms of availability. You never know if some of this silver made it out to your part of the World or other parts. Good information for that one time you catch one of these locally! Always good to see you Peter and thank you for watching😊👍
I have an older poured 14.5oz Simmons bar with the smaller ladle logo that is somewhat centered and is serial numbered 1206 up on the top right corner. Was a cool LCS find for very little over spot!😎 Great video-like to see the Simmons bars making some noise out there on YT👍🏼
What a great Simmons bar to have! Gotta love the older odd weight bars- poured as intended. Your right- not a Simmons seen here on YT, so glad to share the examples I have in the stack😊👍
@ i double checked that bar after i replied. Seems i misremembered the location of the serial number. It is stamped to the right of the ladle logo but not in the upper corner. It’s lower down in the center next to the ladle more. Yes that odd weight old stuff is fun to have-almost couldn’t believe what i’d found and the listings on the few that have sold online are astronomical !!$$$!!!
@@SilverStruck Simmons strikes me (no pun intended) as a small, not particularly distinguished private refiner that made bars on their own and custom-stamped bars for REFCO. Like Scottsdale or OPM, smaller than Sunshine and SilverTowne and way smaller than JM or Engle. Probably REFCO owed them a pile of money and Simmons went BK when REFCO imploded. There is a section on Simmons at "All Englehard".
@@alanpecherer5705 I agree and think your right on! I did cut and paste that Simmons section from AE and put it in the description of this video with proper credit to AE but I bet few look at that.
That's a heck of a bar to find Mark, wow!! I find a lot of dealers do not look into what they have for old bars, it's just silver to them but treasure to us
Hey Sir! Good to see you. I saw the email reply but had not figured out how to reply back to you. All I can here, is wish things had gone better for you. I'll send off a reply a bit later. No worries on your lead time seeing my email- you had a lot going on.
That's why you can't take what AE has listed as absolute. It's a great resource but it's not perfect. In the video I did forget to mention the survival rates after the two great melts. So even with a flawed mintages the numbers on these bars shown are few because many most likely where melted. Same with Morgan's, ancient coins, ect over time.
Very cool bars I like the shape of the third one ✅🆒🥈
The older school Simmons, nice bar👍😊
Once again some silver education from SS. Always learning something new on this channel.
Glad to hear it. I love sharing what I learn!
I have never heard of them before. Glad that you brought this to us .Again another very informative video.
Always happy to share collecting information when I can! Thank you for always watching!
Another bar I’ve not seen before! Well-done, and informative vid!
Thank you sir!
A refiner I never heard of before great review Struck, as always 👍🏻😊

Appreciate you noticing the rarity! I am always on the lookout for those beauties! 😊👍
Add me to the list of folks who'd never heard of them. Very cool! Love the cast bar in particular, even with the higher mintage.
The older Simmons bar are really hard to find, glad I have the three examples I do. Good to see you DubC, thank you for watching!

Great Rare Bars! I've looked at those on AE. Nice score! I like the odd bars
Thanks for watching, I'm always on the lookout for the unusual bars and this time Em helped out!
Awesome scores! I had no idea they were so rare!
Yup- hard to find, so if you find one...consider adding it to the collecting!

Em always comes across cool stuff
Super nice bars! I’ve had some smaller Simmons stuff but none of the big boy bars.
Those one ouncers have a premium on them SBS! I seem to have good luck finding 10 ounce bars.
Scarce pickup! Very nice and great investment
Still picking away at the vintage stack- adding a bar here or there that I need. Thanks for watching!
REFCO went out of biz in a spectacular bankruptcy in 2005. It might have been the largest implosion of a FCM to that time.
I did do some reading into Simmons/Refco but I'll need to Google this 2005 bankruptcy and look into it more.

Definitely not bars I can recall seeing before. Great information like always.
Thank you PCI! Hey- they made five ounce as well- could add one to your 5 ounce bar stack!

Good to see you James!
@@SilverStruck YOU TOO PAL GOD BLESS
Awesome 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
Just picked up a Simmons 1 ounce bar without the serial number and 3 "S" on the reverse. Gun show find for cheap (dealer didn't know what he had).
That's a heck of a bar to find Mark, wow!! I find a lot of dealers do not look into what they have for old bars, it's just silver to them but treasure to us
The PHOENIX bar is the first generation "Star Trek" bar.
Never seen one of those in person
One to look out for Victor in your searches for silver!
@ I sure will do that !! Thanks
👍
Vintage RARE !
Yes Sir! Thanks for watching!!
Hey SS, I replied to your email. Sorry I didn't see it sooner.

No Simmons bar's here Unfortunately. Although Nice looking Bar's there though. 😁
Another not often seen refiner for sure. I like to show silver like this for those interested in picking up vintage ingots.
how could they be mintage of 200 with serial numbers 5506,4420,2630?...🤔🤷♂
