I think the sensitivity for the MX Ergo is way low in this video, and that's why the bad results. I find it way easier to do CAD work with it than with a mouse. It's more precise for medium repetitive movements. As for CS:GO, I won matches with it, but it's very hard for me to find a good sensitivity setting for shooting.
MX Ergo it's not bad at all, and the results were actually a surprise for me. I was expecting it to be slower than a normal mouse. Anyways, i can't use it with higher DPI, i just us it like in the video, and for gaming I am using a normal mouse.
This didn't really seem like a fair test as unless you live under a rock you've used a regular mouse all your computer using life. Unless you exclusively used a trackball for the same amount of time you simply cannot create an unbiased result. I don't necessarily disagree with the end verdict, but the test is by no means fair. My biggest issue with the MX Ergo is that you have no control over sensitivity through your arm. With a regular mouse you use your arm for large movements, wrist for medium and fingertips for tiny moments. The trackball here all comes from your thumb and you simply do not have that much control in your thumb. I also wonder what effects transferring all that motion from my arm to fingertips to just my thumb will have. I mean it may save my wrist but will it wreck my thumb in the long term? I've been using the Ergo for a few weeks now and still can't make my mind up.
The test can't actuality be fair, it's like comparing a pickup truck with a sports car, both will get you there but depending on what you are doing one will do a better job that the other. I am using the ergo for like 2 years, but still when it comes to work i use an normal mouse. Ergo is just not fast enough for me, BUT ergo is perfect if you are working outside and you don't have a place to setup a mouse pad (site works/ construction site/ farm) also it is great when traveling and the train/plane/ car is moving, or use in the bed, navigating internet and watching videos/Netflix. Don't worry about your thumb, it will be ok. Also, the ball is just relaxing to play with
hi, i bought this mouse a year ago, but i couldn't figure out how to move around the autocad interface using the "hand" button (minute 1:18). How can i set the mouse button? thanks
Mmmmmm. How long did you use ERGO before taking this test? I think everybody need some almost a week to get the right way in your finger to enjoy and be fast using the ERGO
This is nonsense. How can you just base your criteria in how much you last doing a task? Or how precise you're using the mouse. I mean, if you usually use a regular mouse, how the heck won't you be lasting much longer in a task using the trackball?!
@@alexzanderthegeek I'm not questioning your final result, but the process you used to get to that result. I mean, there are way more parameters to consider than just the time you spent doing a task.
@@liewhnic5110 That's right, there are way more parameters, but because i used these programs i wanted a speed and productivity test. Sadly, even if i liked a lot the trackball, i always returned to used the MX and G604 for the CAD programs. Also, after just 2 years of normal use the trackball mouse started to have issues with the left click, so no more trackball mouses for me.

To use hand tool just press the middle button. Use the Logitech options to set the buttons as you wish

Great work; it really helps answer my question for my next purchase. Thanks a lot.
Me too. Thanks 👍🏼
Glad to help!
